Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 1. And welcome back indeed, welcome to the start of yet another long season, welcome to another 38 weeks of joy, despair, trials, tribulations and challenges. We hope that you will once again enjoy joining us as we go through all the emotions together, share our thoughts and experiences, rejoice when our players score points, commiserate when they don’t, cry when they come off after 59 minutes and laugh when they concede in the last minute. Or something to that effect anyway.

GW1 sees us kick off with a Friday night game as the Champions of Europe host newly promoted Norwich at home. Doesn’t quite seem fair that does it, somehow? It’ll probably see plenty of Salah captainers get their first taste of the armband for the season anyway.

Champions Man City then get the first Saturday of the season going as they visit West Ham in the early kick off at 12.30pm.

In perhaps a sign of things to come our 3pm games are not only few but are also littered with the already seemingly cast aside ‘less interesting’ teams. Apologies to Bournemouth & Sheffield United, Burnley & Southampton, Palace & Everton and Watford & Brighton but that’s how it seems.

Champions League runners up Spurs host newly promoted Villa at home in the late KO at 5.30pm. Doesn’t quite seem fair that does it, somehow? It’ll probably see plenty of Kane captainers get their first taste of the armband for the season anyway….

Leicester and Wolves begin (share) our first Sunday with an intriguing encounter at 2pm, while Newcastle fans will be protesting against Arsenal at the same time. Well ok, not protesting Arsenal, protesting Ashley, but you know what we mean…

A clash of the old titans sees GW1 out as Chelsea visit Old Trafford at 4pm.

The games in full…

Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.

Good luck to absolutely everyone for Gameweek 1 from all at FF247!

    Morning all,

It looks like some v good scores on here – well done all.

I got a bit lucky, had Salah and Sterling (who I didn’t captain) and was cursing as Kane was blanking – a good last 5 mins, phew. 82 points with Perez to go.

I started with £1mln itb, and hoped to get through first 2 weeks fairly unscathed to allow a mini w/c in wk 3. So far so good, no apparent injuries and hope I can do okayish next week.

Really looking forward to seeing how Arse/Chel/Utd set up today.

I am well pleased with 77 points so far this game week.

Have Salah and sterling of the big three.

Was always captaining Salah so delighted with sterling’s hat trick.

Vertonghen didn’t play so have Greenwood, Perez, Martial and jiminez remaining.

Yes well done to those who captained sterling and are on track for 100+ points.

Shame harry bagged a late brace.

    Mr Bean says:

Made a second team to chase GW1 and then set and forget from GW2 with a wildcard.

Ended up playing the WC last night…on my main account.

    Don’t have two teams kids!

      DMC says:

Well I can’t say I’m sorry for that Bean. I think B teams and C teams and all that nonsense leagues that are flying around shouldn’t be allowed. Their moves and transfers affect the rest of us (or affect the A teams) in an unfair way.

That said, being you a nice bloke I can sympathize with your pain smile

Who knows maybe you can get away with it.

Oh dear… And if you do, double-check everything you do…

      • Mr Bean says:

Lesson learnt, just one team from next year me thinks!

Don’t have the concentration to double check it all…

        • Zed Leppelin says:

Yeah I used to have Zorro’s My Rules team, but rarely checked it and forgot about it for long periods of time… I couldn’t focus on more than one team at a time

Plus I do agree with DMC (to a certain extent) about having B and C teams affecting the market anyway so happy with just one team…

        • Otieno says:

Similar I had a myrules with Zorro but only checked it a few times. I also experimented with a ‘B’ team last year out of curiosity how much TV I could get. But neither were worth the effort. Still got MLS and Mito’s Ashes on the go though

      • Let’s not go there again. Having a second team for fun is a choice. Yes, extra teams affect the overall status in a way but what about those weekly cash prize teams, especially from the middle east? Watch, by Christmas the total players will be 7 million. I think they should be made illegal.

Just realized that my draft with salah, sterling and kane would have got 79 points with zouma and Perez left to play.

My ”real” team without Kane got 84 with Perez left.

      Smash says:

Well my article team would have done a bit better than my current team. Oh well

      • AllanBrallan says:

Its easy to just stare at those 13 points from Kane and cry. But the big picture isn’t at vad as it seems…

        • Smash says:

Yeah it is and you have to base the decisions on the first three weeks at least not just GW1

        • Zed Leppelin says:

Indeed, if thinking about Kane for instance it’s clear than Eriksen is very important for him and Spurs… If he goes then Spurs are in trouble and so is Kane, if he stays then Kane could be good value, easy to just save a transfer now and see GW2 and reassess!

        • AllanBrallan says:

          Not so sure about that.

But it’ll take a few weeks before we know of course,..

        • Smash says:

Exactly we will. My plan was always to see how first two go and then reassess. By that time Chelsea players will be clearer as well

        • DMC says:

There’s Sonny and Alli in there too. And Lo Celso. I think he’ll be fine and he looked sharp too yesterday, so, yeah, I think we’ll all be looking to buy him sooner rather then later. Already a few bargain enablers showing themselves too in McGinn, Buendía, for instance.

        • AllanBrallan says:

He looked sharp for about 4 minutes, but then again, that’s all he needs aparently….

        • Zed Leppelin says:

Nah, this is exactly the reason we need to assess for the first few weeks and not just GW1, these McGinns and Buendias could have just scored in GW1 and then go on to do nothing, the sample size is still way too small. Yeah true that Alli and Lo Celso are there too, but I though Kane looked rather bad before Eriksen came on, the first goal a lucky goal, the second one was very well taken. Wait and see for me as it’s still very much up in the air whether Kane and a McGinn, for instance, will outscore a more balanced pair!

        • DMC says:

All good reasoning and I also agree whit that. I didn’t watch the whole game but it was clear the effect Eriksen had on the team. Kane was there waiting for something to happen and he poked them goals when it did – this the sharpness commentary. We’ll see, of course.

        • Smash says:

Yeah it’s way to early to say those cheaper players are going to do the business each week. McGinn will get odd return but not much more than that. Kane will get points regardless. I think Hudson-Odoi will be the enabler when fit. I definitely prefer Salah and Sterling to Kane that’s for sure after the opening games

        • Zed Leppelin says:

If I had Kane I definitely wouldn’t sell, we all know what he is capable of. Right now I have Salah/Sterling and no Kane and ain’t selling SS so I need to reason whether it’s worth it to include Kane as well, will need one or I think two good enablers to have all three… But we’ll see how it all unfolds! smile
