Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 12

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 12. We have a fairly succinct game-week before we all wander off aimlessly into yet another unwanted international break. 10 games over 2 days begins on Saturday at lunch-time as Cardiff host Brighton, sounds like a thriller. We jump then to four 3pm games and we shall be honest here, we aren’t expecting the most action packed Saturday afternoon ever! Huddersfield look to tame Arnie and co, and probably will, to a 0-0 or something similar. Newcastle vs Bournemouth continues the fun, yep that ones got a low score written all over it too. Saints v Watford next, bet against another 0-0 anyone?! Leicester do have what will be sure to be an emotional occasion against Burnley at home, but as a game, again…

Palace host Spurs in the evening game if anyone is still awake, at least there’s the prospect of some goals in this one, we can but hope!

Sunday promises much better though, and just in case there are any stats fans out there the 12 Saturday teams have averaged 12 goals apiece this season, the remaining Sunday bunch of 8 are at 20.75. Liverpool kick us off at home to Fulham in the 12pm game and it could / should be calculators at the ready in this one. Chelsea then take on Everton at 2.15pm before we end our week in strange fashion with two 4.30pm games. Arsenal and Wolves will be largely ignored as the Manchester derby takes centre stage at the same time.

The games in full…

Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.

Good luck to absolutely everyone for Gameweek 12 from all at FF247!

Think this will sum up a lot of people’s day, the highest player today is owned by no one!

I can’t believe this. My Rules team is on 34 points from 4 players with the upcoming BPs. Looks like it will outscore my main team again 😯

This BPS system takes the biscuit .Ings plays 33 minutes and provides an assist and gets 2 bonus points. Holebas scores a goal and plays 90 minutes, gets nothing. Lerma scores a goal and plays 45 minutes and gets 2 bonus points. Trippier played 23 minutes and kept a clean sheet. Should be worth at least 1 point!!

      Kralin says:

I too used to get vexed by the BPS system. I used to think: is this the work of a loner somewhere, someone who doesn’t wash themselves properly, someone who cooks for themselves on a bad stove – and who gets a fanatical satisfaction from exploiting the gullibility of the public.

But then one day I read this – https://www.premierleague.com/news/106533 – and wiped away a couple of tears at how simple it all is.

      • Zed Leppelin says:

It’s just mathematics, it’s not about whether it’s complex or simple, it’s about whether the parameters that go into it are robust or not… Well, they are not robust. But they are what they are…

      • Kruzcampo says:

So a defender gets half the points of a forward for scoring a goal. Who thought that one up? Surely it should be the other way round to reward the defenders who occasionally score a goal. Forwards are doing the job they should do yet are rewarded extravagantly for doing just that. The guys who are fed the chances are skilled at scoring goals but a defender is not.

        • Zed Leppelin says:

Yeah and when they miss they get punished, although that’s what they do, they get loads of chances and are meant to put some away, that’s why Salah never (*rarely) gets bonus… Plus the pass completion should be different for strikers and defenders, strikers are meant to give passes that are going for the goal, hence their pass percentage isn’t that good, whereas all defenders do is make safe passes to teammates… But as I said, it’s mathematics, depends on the parameters… The parameters are incorrect at the moment imo but I can’t see any changes happening anytime soon…

        • Kruzcampo says:

The game is evolving all the time and the BPS system should follow Any idea when the rules were last changed. From memory defenders gained and forwards suffered.

        • Kralin says:

I think periodically they ask for feedback, so you should just keep an eye on that.

Or maybe there’s some formal way already where managers can offer feedback / ask a question / scream for help etc.

I’ve never let the BPS bother me in the slightest. You win some, you lose some. We’re all in the same boat – it’s not as if the top 5% get a different set of points. The game is free. And it’s just a game.

        • Zed Leppelin says:

@Kralinho I do agree that it’s just a game and the bonus points don’t bother me in the slightest either… But I understand why it bothers some folks as it’s so incorrect!

I actually think the BPS is great fun in the game! It’s a great addition to the game, it wouldn’t be as fun without it as you always sweat about who gets the bonus! But I do wish they made the parameters slightly more accurate though, as in reflecting who really plays well and who doesn’t!

        • Chipster says:

Kruzcampo “So a defender gets half the points of a forward for scoring a goal. Who thought that one up? Surely it should be the other way round to reward the defenders who occasionally score a goal.” This aspect is already factored into the points awarded for getting a goal in the first place: 6pts for defenders, 5pts for midfielders and 4pt for a striker.

“Forwards are doing the job they should do yet are rewarded extravagantly for doing just that” Yes, the BPS weighting for scoring goals seems to rewarding strikers for doing their allotted job well, but presumably we don’t object to that when we own the forward who scores and the extravagant BPS help him secure all 3BPs for us.

Some weeks we luck out like that; some weeks we may perceive that we lose out, but it’s all swings and roundabouts in the end.

        • constantine says:

          +1 for Chipster’s reply..

Who shall I get for Maddison?
Richarlison, Filipe Anderson or Lucas Moura? I am short for Martial.

      Kruzcampo says:

I am going for Felipe as he is getting up to speed fitness wise and has good fixtures through to next year after playing city.I have Richarlie and have had Moura who could be the same as Felipe now he has had a few more games, but is more expensive. I am looking at Lamela as another option but he was bleeding from a head wound when taken off tonight.

      • piksi says:

Thanks Kruz, I may wait till tomorrow night as non of these price going up tonight.
Also I have other option to get Paterson and free some money to get Murray for Success.

        • Kruzcampo says:

I am selling tonight as Maddi is dropping and once the rest of the world logs on the price will plummet.

        • inittowinit says:

‘The rest of the world’ may also see that he’s probably going to be fit and available for GW13 and so may not be so hasty?

        • Kruzcampo says:

Still red flagged with an unknown return date unless you have other info. Down 86.4% with 16k sales(now 86.7% & 14k sales) to go before 2am gmt for a – 0.1. But with 2 more weeks before the next game would you gamble that he won’t go down another 0.2 before then? I won’t take that gamble as I want to be certain of the prices I sell at to buy the next player. Injuries happen over the IB and injuries heal over the same period.
Could go for Martial as the fixtures are great after the Derby.

        • inittowinit says:

Kruz, I’m just poking you matey! Stop biting so ferociously smile If you feel it’s important then go ahead.

How’s your season going so far?

        • Smash says:

Seems early to me wait until at least the GW finishes. A long way to go especially as a lot would have sold him already. It’s about points not team value at the end of the day

        • Kruzcampo says:

Hey Init Nah, not ferocious just letting you know the way I play the game different from you.
Seasons alright but dropped over the last couple of weeks due to injuries and 1 pointers.
          68 in the Regulars league and 2068 in the ff247 league. 40k in gw9 but 229k now! 4th in ff247 championship H2h .

Just need to get back on track but with 4 injuries and 1ft I feel a few hits coming on in the next 2 weeks!

        • inittowinit says:

You might be a lot higher than that in the Regs league once I get Elle on the case for some mid-season vetting as I don’t recognise 7 of that top 13 as being ‘regulars’!

      Brookyboy says:

A word of caution.West Ham were very poor today and apart from scoring, after a goal mouth scramble, where the ball should have been dealt with and cleared,Anderson actually did very little. It was a very poor quality game to be honest.

    inittowinit says:

    Averages, for what it’s worth!

  6. 54
    Zed Leppelin says:

Well, I could now (and by now I don’t mean now) sell Salah and Richarlison for Mane and Sterling… I’ll sip a glass of Kralinho’s special brew and let the thought elaborate for a little while…. Or two…
