Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 18. The silly season officially begins here. We have no less than 40 games spanning the next 14 days taking in 4 GW’s in total. We can but recommend you stick close to both our Fixture Tracker and our on-site Countdown Timer to keep track of when each GW begins, but as a helpful little ditty to perhaps take a ‘snap of’, the deadlines are as follows (all times are GMT) –

GW18 Friday 21st December 7PM
GW19 Wednesday 26th December 11.30AM
GW20 Saturday 29th December 3PM
GW21 Tuesday 1st January 11.30AM

As for this GW we begin on Friday and end on Sunday with the majority of the games on Saturday for a pleasant change. Wolves and Liverpool kick us off this evening as the current league leaders look to put the pressure on their chasers by extending their overnight lead to 4 points over Man City.

Saturday begins with many an FPL manager sweating over the Arsenal line-up as they play host to an ever increasingly tight Burnley side. Six 3PM kick-offs follow with Bournemouth and Brighton both looking to regain some sort of form, Chelsea hoping to continue their own pursuit against Leicester, Huddersfield look to stop the new beer flowing against the Saints, Man City probably playing catch up against Palace, Newcastle hoping Mitro doesn’t come back to haunt them and West Ham look for 5 wins in a row for who knows how long as they host Watford.

Saturday evening could be intriguing as Cardiff look to take 3 points off fellow strugglers Man United.

Our only game on a barren Sunday is Everton vs Spurs. Harry Kane may not know it but this could be his final rehearsal for many FPL managers, especially if Kun shows up on Saturday.

If you enter and win a prize you have to have commented on the site at least 5 times for 8 consecutive months between August 2018 and March 2019 or you will not be considered for a prize. That’s basically 1 comment a week all season, we think that’s a reasonable ask to be considered a ‘regular’.

  1. Time to get rid of Laporte! I can’t believe his price is still higher than when it was in GW13 when I bought him to replace Mendy. After getting a CS on his debut for me, all he’s managed since is 1s and 2s.
    OK, rant over. Who should replace him? I want someone premium and could afford anyone, but why spend on VVD when I could get TAA or even Lovren for less? Does any team apart from Liverpool look like keeping regular CSs? Chelsea have an easy run of upcoming fixtures, but that doesn’t help if they keep leaking goals like in the past 2 GWs.
    Difficult for me to see beyond TAA because of his attacking returns. Hopefully his price will drop soon too, so I’ll wait.

    • Shaw is pretty cheap if you fancy Utd and their fixtures! They looked great attacking today but I’m not sure whether the magic can work on their defence but they do have easy fixtures!

      • Thanks for the suggestion, igy. The thing is, although I don’t operate a strict ABU rule, I’m generally averse to Man U and avoid them unless they’re complete must-haves.

      • Need to start moving money from the defence I think starting with Laporte. Think im sick of Alonso

        • Thx Smash. But premium defenders are (generally) where the best value is! I’m satisfied with my midfielders – 43pts this GW from 4 of them, despite captaining the wrong one, and with Richarlison still to play. In attack I just plan to tinker with my two cheap options, as I can’t afford to make the big step up to another 11m+ striker without severely weakening elsewhere.

        • I disagree. I think there is value in Lovren, TAA, Doherty, Shaw, Digne, over Laporte and Alonso. Robertson is getting the points though and Alonso has not since GW3

        • Have you considered DDG as your wildcard goalie? I was having vague thoughts about him last night (looking at those fixtures).

          I fancy a bit of Shaw myself.

        • Nah he’s too expensive. I think Shaw could be good United full backs were really high up the field yesterday. Need to decide today whether to hit the button

  2. Rashford and Ings in for Wilson and Jimenez? Think I’d prefer Martial but not sure I want to mess with the midfield and it would require downgrading Alonso to a cheap defender to upgrade Camarasa.

    • Jiminez has Fulham next and has been getting regular returns..

    • Ings goes straight from this week to City and Chelsea.

    • Hmm back to the drawing board then!

      • Both Wilson and Jimenez look worth keeping. How about replacing Laporte? (Maybe even with Shaw?!)

  3. Bad bad week after two decent ones. 25 points with only Lloris left to play. It was just PEA and Salah vs all. But, am keeping calm. When players like Initt score sub 20 points, you know it was a bad day. Thinking of holding my FT and try to get Salah after tough fixtures.

    • Yeah that’s pretty much it those with those two basically did well.

    • In case it’s any consolation, PEA and Salah didn’t do so well the GW before. (Hope this is the right attachment…)

        Players need to be assessed over a fair period of fixtures.

        Often too many managers are over reactive after one blank.

          Many times I have been burned from this.

          Like selling lac and salah and then they score. Same for Fraser :):

          I just might keep the same team since it’s only 3 days till the next gw.

        • Yes that’s right. This relative slump in City’s form has caught everyone on the hop.

          In addition, this GW isn’t over yet. Maybe another 10ish points to come, if we’re lucky.

      • That’s what my point was GKW. May be next week Hazard/Sterling would score a brace and Salah might be benched. People would try to break their teams to get last week’s scorers.

  4. Hi all, what should I do for Wednesday? I have 2FT and £0 to spend. I was thinking of getting Salah and Rashford. Waiting to see how Kane will do today.

    • Piksi, decide first of all which of your players need replacing. Otherwise you fall into the trap of chasing last GW’s points. I reckon you should switch Ryan to Steele and tinker with your defence.

    • I like that side and that formation actually.

      I own PEA and Kane so I’m not likely to advise you to remove either of those. smile

      Not much needing doing there. Dunk or Ryan replacement maybe? Unless you’re dead set on United cover in which case I would try to swap Fraser for Lingard, Ryan as makeweight.

    • Thanks to both, I am 0.1 short to get Lingard for Fraser and Dunk to 3.8 defender. Would need to go -4 and replace Ryan to cheap keeper.

  5. From now on I will tell you all who I’m about to make captain so you don’t make the same mistake. I pick wrong captain every week! This weekend Sterling C, Auba VC…

    Here’s my team. Got 2FT and 0,1 itb but have no Idea what to do. Might aswell do something since i got 2 FT’s. Lingard in for Maddison?

    • Hey Allan.
      What about changing your GK?
      I think changing Maddison might be a good move. The general issue with getting United players is that Solskjær will rotate his squad a lot, at least in the beginning. Have no idea whether that will have an impact on Lingard though, but I think both Martial and Rashford will likely get more minutes.

  6. Morning all!

    I am going to play my WC after gw 21, and are looking to use my 2 ft’s with a very short term view.
    Considering getting Martial or Rashford in there somewhere.
    Is it worth upgrading Fraser for Martial? Would incur downgrading Alonso to a 6.0 def, or Smalling to a 4.7 def.
    Any other short terms alternatives worth considering?

    • But that’s when you get wildcard no.2

      Use your wildcard before gw 20 and save the second one for the upcoming double gameweeks later on…

    • Short term United look your best bet ahead of a wildcard.

      Smalling – Lindelof.
      Fraser – Lingard?

    • As you say it’s very short-term, you may as well get two Man U players. And Man C have tricky fixtures so you could sell Sterling (together with Stephens) and bring in Martial and Lingard.

      I am definately getting Martial for Fraser.
      That means I can sell Smalling for a 4.7 def or Alonso to a 6.3 def.
      Don´t know how Smalling´s fitness is, but I doubt he will start?

      Not sure I am comfortable selling Sterling for Lingard gkw..

      • You can get Sterling back with your WC. But in the short term he has Leicester (a) which isn’t an easy fixture like Huddersfield (h) would seem to be.

    • Similar situation to me. I’m either going to wildcard this week or bring in Martial and Shaw/Lovren in for Fraser and Alonso. Kind of depends on Kane because I want rid
