Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 18

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 18. The silly season officially begins here. We have no less than 40 games spanning the next 14 days taking in 4 GW’s in total. We can but recommend you stick close to both our Fixture Tracker and our on-site Countdown Timer to keep track of when each GW begins, but as a helpful little ditty to perhaps take a ‘snap of’, the deadlines are as follows (all times are GMT) –

GW18 Friday 21st December 7PM
GW19 Wednesday 26th December 11.30AM
GW20 Saturday 29th December 3PM
GW21 Tuesday 1st January 11.30AM

As for this GW we begin on Friday and end on Sunday with the majority of the games on Saturday for a pleasant change. Wolves and Liverpool kick us off this evening as the current league leaders look to put the pressure on their chasers by extending their overnight lead to 4 points over Man City.

Saturday begins with many an FPL manager sweating over the Arsenal line-up as they play host to an ever increasingly tight Burnley side. Six 3PM kick-offs follow with Bournemouth and Brighton both looking to regain some sort of form, Chelsea hoping to continue their own pursuit against Leicester, Huddersfield look to stop the new beer flowing against the Saints, Man City probably playing catch up against Palace, Newcastle hoping Mitro doesn’t come back to haunt them and West Ham look for 5 wins in a row for who knows how long as they host Watford.

Saturday evening could be intriguing as Cardiff look to take 3 points off fellow strugglers Man United.

Our only game on a barren Sunday is Everton vs Spurs. Harry Kane may not know it but this could be his final rehearsal for many FPL managers, especially if Kun shows up on Saturday.

The games in full…

  1. Morning

    Which do you prefer:

    A. Laca & wilson to PEA & Ings
    B. Laca & wilson to kun & Ings
    C. Laca and Torreria to Ings & pogba

Or I do scrap the above and just to do what it takes to get in salah?

    • C) sounds smart!

    • Msrtial instead of Pogba ?

      • *Martial

      • Wow I thought pogba would have been the preferred

        • I’ve gone Pog if it helps. I figure most will go Martial (as shown above), but fancied the differential.

        • Pog is marginal favourite for me; I’m thinking nailedness as well as other things. Also not sure how long Lukaku and Sanchez are out, etc.

Will be having a ponder between the three later.

        • Pogba is your favorite marginal is that it?

        • I’m also thinking about Spurs’ midfielders. Or just sticking with Sane (who is the one I need to move on for the Pog or whoever). So no real favourites yet.

Am more interested at the moment in seeing how this afternoon’s game plays out. Good opportunity for Spurs.

    • Thank you for the comments!

I have a lot to to think about! Whatever I do I hope it gets my season back on track!

  2. If Kane does something today then it will soften the blow but I am out of the cup unless Kane gets a hat trick.

Rather then hitting the panic button I am would about TAA.

But Klopp says he will be back soon. So keeping him till my next FT in game week 20 is wise?

    • Kuma, why don’t you link your team? Go to your team history, copy the URL and paste it in your profile.

      • ah i didn’t realise i could link my team here.

Sorry where in profile do you copy the URL.

        • Nevermind I got it working thanks.

Anyways you can all see my team now laugh.

    • Kuma, yes – keep TAA and roll the FT. Your other defenders (apart from Pereira) have easy next fixtures, so no big problem if TAA misses the Newcastle game. Your squad’s sound overall, and much of the reason for your weaker position this season is all those hits you’ve taken. You’ve also got decent team value so should do strongly in the 2nd half of the season.

      • Yeah maybe you are right. Those hits are starting to up.

Anyways yeah I will save that FT for the next game week. Think it’s time for a calm head.

    • An hattrick and an assist is what I need from him to progress. Not going to happen…

  3. As almost all of us have Anderson I was wondering are we happy with him. The guy blows hot and cold and maybe is time to think for alternatives. Next is away to Southampton who are starting to look a better team since the arrival of the new manager.

    • I think we are playing the form game with him and he’s still on a decent 5.7
Watford are sometimes a tough team to break so I’m going to give him at least the Saints game.

      • That is true DMC. After that is Burnley (A) and Brighton (H) before the fixtures start to get iffy.

      • Yes. Until yesterday Anderson was on my shopping list. As it is, I’d now say he’s one to hold onto if you have him but not worth transferring in. West Ham were unlucky not to score yesterday but I wouldn’t say he was one of the biggest dangers.

        • Good feedback there gwk as I haven’t watched that game or highlight. Does that apply to Javier Hernandez?

        • Hernandez (Chicharito) missed several half-chances, which would’ve been annoying for me against any other team… I’m holding him for now, but I wouldn’t buy him. So my short answer is Yes smile

        • Fair enough. Any shinning prospects from your lot?

        • Deulofeu and Pereyra are the two best bets, I reckon. Though if you really want a “shinning” player then perhaps Okaka would be the one to go for smile

    • Will keep him longer but now that I will definitely keep Deulofeu and Martial I am looking at Anderson instead for Haz/Salah

  4. What are the chances of Lingard, Pogba and Rashford going up 0.2? They are United players after all

    • That’s what I was thinking about in my post above Smash. I am bringing Rashford for Mitro today and planning to get Lingard for Anderson. Already have Martial. It’s not because United is my team but I seriously think that is a revival time and the upcoming fixtures will help a lot.

    • The next GW comes so fast, I’d say none of those will rise twice…

      • Zed, why your team is not linked again? Have you moved to some secret society 😉

        • I have no idea mate, perhaps the magic of Christmas, ehem, my cellar! 😆

  5. Time for Laporte to go.
    Ain’t worth his value
    Who’s best replacement?
    Have Robertson awb Doherty Balbuena

    • TAA. But wait for his (TAA’s) price to drop, hopefully tonight.

    • Digne, Everton have a nice run of fixtures and he has a share of set pieces.

      • But Everton have kept only 4 CSs (compared with Liverpool’s 11). And three of those four were easy home matches. The only easy home match they have left is Burnley, in May.

    • I’d buy someone in the same price bracket (Virgil?) to keep the flexibility for Mendy when the time comes. I know it’s tooo far away but you get Virgil’s points in the process and don’t have to deal with possible hits do then do such move.

      • I agree with your underlying thinking, DMC, but would expect TAA to get more attacking points than VVD.

        • Quite possible, if he was to play the same minutes, which he isn’t. Also, it’s not really about TTA vs VVD; it’s more about team estructure. That is something I’m prioritizing more each year, instead of moving premium spots for the cheap-ish flavour of the month etc. I have a spot for the 5.0 defender and that’s Doherty’s for the moment and I’ll resist moving from that estructure of two premium defenders. Just a thought though.

        • Given Gomez’s injury, there seems a fair chance of TAA playing all the matches at least till late January. In that case, and assuming his injury doesn’t linger, he could be considered a 6m defender who’s underpriced. But yes I agree with you that VVD’s a safer bet.

    • Digne or Shaw

  6. I noticed lingard took a penalty. Is he the penalty taker now? I’m finding it hard to decide between pogba martial and lingard who to bring in. I didn’t watch the match so have no eye test to go on.

    • Pogba let Lingard take it. Though Lingard did not give him a lot of choice in the matter. Young told Lingard off but Pogba was ok with it

      • I thought it could be a case of whoever earns it takes it, but will be interesting to see in a more tight match, it was at 1-3 after all…

        • Well that’s why Lingard wanted it

        • Yeah, so we have to assume Pogba is still on pens..

        • I guess. We may need to revisit that when Lukaku is back because he used to take them and it was a bit of a managerial thing to switch it to Pogba, who isn’t great at it mind.

        • Yeah, impossible to know what Solskjär thinks for now… It doesn’t really affect my decision-making though as I already have Martial so sticking with him smile
