Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 18

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 18. The silly season officially begins here. We have no less than 40 games spanning the next 14 days taking in 4 GW’s in total. We can but recommend you stick close to both our Fixture Tracker and our on-site Countdown Timer to keep track of when each GW begins, but as a helpful little ditty to perhaps take a ‘snap of’, the deadlines are as follows (all times are GMT) –

GW18 Friday 21st December 7PM
GW19 Wednesday 26th December 11.30AM
GW20 Saturday 29th December 3PM
GW21 Tuesday 1st January 11.30AM

As for this GW we begin on Friday and end on Sunday with the majority of the games on Saturday for a pleasant change. Wolves and Liverpool kick us off this evening as the current league leaders look to put the pressure on their chasers by extending their overnight lead to 4 points over Man City.

Saturday begins with many an FPL manager sweating over the Arsenal line-up as they play host to an ever increasingly tight Burnley side. Six 3PM kick-offs follow with Bournemouth and Brighton both looking to regain some sort of form, Chelsea hoping to continue their own pursuit against Leicester, Huddersfield look to stop the new beer flowing against the Saints, Man City probably playing catch up against Palace, Newcastle hoping Mitro doesn’t come back to haunt them and West Ham look for 5 wins in a row for who knows how long as they host Watford.

Saturday evening could be intriguing as Cardiff look to take 3 points off fellow strugglers Man United.

Our only game on a barren Sunday is Everton vs Spurs. Harry Kane may not know it but this could be his final rehearsal for many FPL managers, especially if Kun shows up on Saturday.

The games in full…

Having a tinker with my team! How does this sound? Laporte, Alonso and Camarasa out for Digne, Shaw and Martial. It would give me a headache regarding the front 8 but that can only be a good thing going into a huge rotational period right?

      Smash says:

No for me because of benching headache

      • igy4 says:

Would it be such a headache over the festive period though? It’s highly unlikely that my starting 11 will start or play every game, so having a decent front 8 means someone else will possibly come in?

        • Smash says:

That’s if they don’t play at all though. When there is rotation they tend to come off the bench like Fraser. By having a strong 8 yeah you might use it but you will also have to use two free transfers later to change it back. You have WB and Bennett anyway which are good back ups.

        • Mr Go says:

Desipte the rotation you could still be kicking yourself for bencing the wrong player, Wilson does have some tough fixtures so you coukd go with him.

        • igy4 says:

Thanks Smash and and Mr Go! I guess I’m looking at a way of getting a Utd att/mid in there without changing too much of the midfield as I quite like who I have at the moment! Sane is a huge rotation risk but he has been in good form and is currently my only City attacking player so don’t want to lose him.

        • Smash says:

I’d prefer Wilson or Jimenez to Kamara to get Martial. So change to 3-5-2

        • igy4 says:

Just 0.3 short of that move Smash. Could do Wilson to Rashford but would need to raise 0.1 elsewhere so Camarasa to either Gunnarsson or Masuaka or switch Laporte to someone cheaper!

      gkw says:

Don’t make all of those moves at once – avoid the hit. I’d keep Alonso, trade Laporte for Doherty and upgrade Camarasa to one of the in-form midfielders who costs slightly more.

    Hi guys.
I’m thinking of Sané to Martial for a bit of Utd cover as I already have Sterling. Any thoughts please?

    Floydeth says:

    Morning all.

‪I was going to hold off getting Salah in until gw22 but now thinking he is the best capo pick this week. Can also get him without a hit but would need to sell Sterling?‬

Anyone else thinking similar or is it too ‘knee-jerky’?

    • 123.1
      Smash says:

I’d prefer Salah to Sterling that’s pretty evident as I’ve not had Sterling all season. There’s no guarantee Salah starts if he’s going to rotate this is the game he will miss

      • Floydeth says:

Cheers Smash. Yea I prefer Salah over Sterling. I only sold Salah 3 weeks ago to fit Kane/Auba in so may as well correct the mistake and get him back in for this plum fixture

      • Brookyboy says:

Liverpool have a good rest period between games.5 days,3 days then another 5 days so i wouldnt be suprised to see Salah start all 3 games but maybe come off early against Newcastle once the job is done.

Looks good as long as you’re comfortable without Salah!

i like this manu. lets hope mane gets back on the points chart again even though Salah and the defenders are getting the most points for Liverpool lately.

      • Haha, pool are trying to copy the invincible 2003/4 season from Arsenal but still plenty of time to get there 😉

        • waljac7 says:

Hi Ivan. For me, city will win the title, lfc will implode and get third and hopefully as a Gunners fan, we secure 4th and kick tottenham out. Waiting for Kane to get injured around jan/feb.

        • Yes Jack, that is the most likely scenario. If Liverpool keep it up they might sneak in, after all it has been 27 years 😉 Arsenal will be definitely up there. As for United, we have a very slim outside chance to finish in top 4 but only time will tell.

        • waljac7 says:

hey ivan. Liverpool will bottle it in April just like 2008/09 and 2013/14 in this premier league era. The top 4 i predict is : city, chelsea, lfc and arsenal. manu to come 5th and spurs is 6th.

        • Kop Warrior says:

You think Arsenal will finish above Spurs? I suggest you sober up!! smile

        • waljac7 says:

we will see kop warrior laugh . i’ll be pouring myself in champagne if we finish above spurs hehe

      • man u man says:

Thanks guys, think I’ll stick with this now, barring injuries.

      • Haha Jack, that’s very likely but keep it quiet as there is a big army of pool fans around 😉 😆

        • waljac7 says:

thanks for the heads up ivan. i am always up for a good banter. I will be realistic on one thing: we will lose to them next saturday. i predict 3-1 to liverpool as salah picked up his form and shaqiri will play some part. our defence is just miserable with the increasing amount of injuries.

        • Anything could happen Jack. Next Saturday is a long time away from now, first you need to do something on Boxing Day at Brighton who can be tricky at times.
As for the banter, it’s always a great fun. I am relevantly new for this site. There was a site called FF1st which shut down in the end of the last season. Myself and quite a few others found refuge here. We are all very happy and you’ll find many friendly and helpful guys around.

        • waljac7 says:

cheers Ivan. I feel welcomed here already. looking forward to meet more people here in the coming weeks.

I think we should do just fine against brighton. i’d say we would edge it 1-2 but I know its easier said than done after what happened to us there earlier in the season. they will fancy us again with our shaky defence.

        • It will be another round full of surprises. Salah and co will be favorite for captaincy. As I don’t have any of them most likely will go for a Man U asset but Auba can be trusted again, he is in good form. Both City and Chelski will be looking to bounce back after defeats. All we need to see what Spurs are up to this afternoon.

        • waljac7 says:

true ivan. boxing day football will be at its finest. i do welcome some shock results that makes this community go upside down smile should be some good/bad reactions to come

        • Well Jack, top guns like City and Chelsea failed and bitterly disappointed many this week. Maybe Liverpool is next 😉 If that happens, expects riots on here and few suicidal notes handed 😀

        • waljac7 says:

omg Ivan. that is messed up haha. i am starting to think this site has majority liverpool fans? is that a valid statement ?

        • Yes Jack, you are not far from the truth but there are many other different supporters and everyone is equally welcomed.

        • DMC says:

I don’t think we’ve ever had a headcount but I wouldn’t say majority. It (club preference) actualy rarely transpires in your average thread.

        • Smash says:

There’s a lot of Liverpool on here for sure

        • DMC says:

Yeah, a lot. Has therebare Man Utd and Arsenal. There’s only one from Sporting Clube de Portugal though!! smile

      • Elleffcee says:

        Talking of Liverpool, hi Jac.

Hi guys. Got my wildcard to use after next GW. 1ft for this. Thinking Anderson to Martial. Or Laporte and Wilson for Shaw / TAA and Rashford. Any initial thoughts?
