Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 2

None of that Friday night nonsense this week. Our game-week kicks off at lunchtime on Saturday with Cardiff hosting Newcastle, a game that has relegation 6 pointer written all over it. We then have four games at the traditional kick off time of 3pm. Everton entertain Southampton. It’s a battle of the animals at The King Power stadium as the Foxes host Wolves. It’s an all London affair with Spurs playing host to Fulham, while Bournemouth travel to West Ham. Saturday is brought to a conclusion with the game of the weekend when Chelsea host Arsenal at 5:30pm.

Sunday brings us another three games. Burnley host Watford in a game that is unlikely to cure any hangovers. Huddersfield will be hoping to improve on their opening day result but that’s unlikely as they entertain Manchester City. If you’re still hungover come 4pm you might as well switch off the TV as Brighton host Jose and his merry men.

Our game-week is brought to an end with the first Monday Night Football of the season and it has the potential to be a cracker as Liverpool travel to London to face Crystal Palace.

I apologise to all the sensible fantasy football managers, but I’ve just gone and used my 2FTs before GW2 has ended. If any of my three Pool players get injured tomorrow, I’ll get what I deserve, and you may say “I told you so”, but fingers crossed that doesn’t happen!

My excuse is, I have been really disappointed with Davies and King and I wasn’t going to suffer the further humility of getting hit by their price drops tonight (or at least, FFFix says they’re going down tonight). Also, I really wanted Alonso and he’s meant to go up in price tonight. Finally, I think Ings is looking really good and at £5.5m I think he’s potentially great value for money.

Looks good GentleBen. Alonso thinks he’s playing up top.
Wish I could squeeze him in

No need to apologise Ben, you play the game how you see it. Team looks great as a result.

Thanks Horse and Init. Your comments have comforted me enough that I can now go to bed. Night night! smile

      Kralin says:

I was thinking more Zaha as a swap than Ings; was it cashflow that made you go for Ings?

King (who miraculously didn’t drop in price last night, though I’m sure it’ll happen soon) has been a low point so far for me, too. But I was thinking one more game, especially as they’re at home in what should be an open game this weekend.

But as the week progresses Zaha I’m sure will become more appealing as a swap.

      • GentleBenAKA says:

Kralin – yes cash flow was one of my considerations. I now have £2.0m to invest elsewhere (next week – I’m not keen on taking hits!) and this will either be to upgrade/swap one of my GKs (Fab and Pat are both underwhelming me), Ralls (he’s doing nothing) or Peltier (he’s not playing) or a mixture of those (it really depends on GW3 performances).

The other main consideration was that I think Ings may be a reliable third striker, maybe even more so than Zaha.

        • GentleBenAKA says:

The way I got to this conclusion was thus: Ings scores when he plays. He hasn’t been playing. But now he is. His value recognises last season, not this one. Also, he’s now at his local club. The fans love him. It’s all set up well for him.

The first game he was eased in late on, hence why he scored low. But these are the comments from BBC Sport:

“But the hosts came back into the game when new signings Danny Ings and Mohamed Elyounoussi were introduced”

“With Burnley still dominant, Saints manager Mark Hughes opted to introduce Ings in the second half and the 26-year-old was welcomed by a standing ovation from the home fans. His arrival appeared to give the rest of the team a lift and the striker was quickly in the action. With the hosts beginning to build momentum, Ings arrived right on cue to meet a corner ahead of his marker, but his fierce effort flew over the bar.

As well as posing a threat to the opposition’s goal, Ings also showed signs of creativity as his well-weighted pass to the back post created the chance for Stephens that Hart saved.

Hughes spoke very highly of Ings upon his return to the south coast, saying he had “admired” the former Bournemouth forward for some time.

And based on Sunday’s 40-minute showing, the Saints manager has lots to be optimistic about.“

        • Kralin says:

Another reason for me to keep King will be I’ll have three weeks’ worth of striker data to look at before choosing a replacement (if it comes to that).

Ings’ figures aren’t bad at all so far.

I know what you mean about the goalie situation.

        • Kralin says:

          That’s a really good argument.

Earlier I had a look at the data a bit and it looked excellent for a 5.5m striker.

My main temptation is Zaha, based on CP’s very nice run of fixtures, but Ings’ price can free things up elsewhere.

But this is something I’ll be looking at more next week.

          Cheers.

        • GentleBenAKA says:

I agree three weeks data is significantly better than two. And as you say, King price didn’t drop. And neither did Davies! So the basis for my transfers was flawed…

Looks good to me. Also did Bavies to Alonso

GentleBen, your team is the exact same as mine except I have Mkhitaryan instead of Ralls! Hoping this team sets us up nicely moving forward!

    Final plea for help!!
1-Shaw/Firmino to Alonso/Arnautovic …leaves £1m itb for Pickford to DDG after Spurs!
    Or…
    2-Peltier/Firmino to Alonso/Arnautovic …leaves 0itb!
3-A -4 to do Hudson-Odei to Westwood (or another 4.5 mid) before price drop!? Yes or no??
    Cheers

    makeya says:

Hello lads. Have a bit of a headache at the moment as I’m running too many scenarios in my head as to what I could do with my team.

    Here are some ideas –
    Jota + Firmino – Mkhi + Morata
    Jota + Firmino – Hazard + Ings
    Jota + Firmino + Shaw – Mkhi + Arnautovic + Alonso (-4 hit)

What are your thoughts on these? Cheers!

      DMC says:

Hi Makeya – my thoughts are you wait and see what Firmino does tonight before selling him.

      • makeya says:

Oh 100%. I’m mainly worried about Jota and to get him out for a decent player, I’d have to sacrifice Firmino. With Mane and Salah in my team, I think it’s justifiable.

        • billisBob says:

I can respect that, but yeah, defo wait and watch Firmino tomorrow! Remeber there’s a reason he’s in your team and his consistency is a big part of that.

I like the Hazard pick due to how outside the box it is, and he will be class under Sari for sure, but it is a risk. Ings will be good too.

I’m a bit of an Arnie fan but his fixtures aren’t great but I’d consider him too if I were you. He seems the focal point of West Ham at the mo.

          Good luck!

        • makeya says:

Cheers for the feedback lads. Unfortunately Jota just dropped in price so those moves can’t happen. Any chance Firmino could rise?

    • 294.2
      RedKev says:

3rd one imo but can you do it without the hit or use Mee/Chambers instead of Shaw?

      • makeya says:

I could leave out Mkhi but I want to swap out Jota after his minimal contribution to the last game. I’m happy to take a hit if it means getting in a player before a rise. And yes, Mee can go instead of Shaw.
