Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 2

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 2. After the excitement of GW1 and a fresh squad to play with we move onwards into the weekly slog and trying to find the right balance between keeping what you have and adding in fresh faces / the latest bandwagon without taking too many unnecessary hits along the way. Let us all know what you did and whether it was worth it on our weekly Live Match Chat forum. As for the games themselves Swansea host Man United to begin our week at lunchtime on Saturday. This is followed by five 3pm games and then Stoke host Arsenal in the late one. Pulis will be sat at home rubbing his thighs in anticipation.

Sunday begins wit a clash of the promoted teams as Huddersfield host Newcastle befoe a couple of the more established teams meet at 4pm as Spurs host Chelsea.

We then have our first Monday evening game of the season as Man City face Everton.

  1. Hey guys,

    Pretty horrid Saturday of FPL footy for me. On 30 points with Davies, Willian, Alli, KDB and Jesus to play. I’ve got 0 ITB and 2FT.

    Option 1 – Willian & firmino (rotation risk with euro game & tough fixtures – I know they ‘usually’ do well but they may not) to chica & pogba

    Option 2 – JWP & firmino to 7m mid & chica? A few option in that price range but don’t who yet…

    Any other suggestion?

      I like the idea of bringing Pogba (or Mkhitaryan) in. But i would hold on to Firmino in truth. So unless you did Willian and JWP out to Pogba and Chalobah or similar?

        I could something similar to that. Why would you been so keen to keep firmino? I personally can see him playing against hoff meaning he’s started every game so far and then being benched whilst sturridge starts against arsenal?

    Erickson and Kun swop frees up some cash

  3. Okay guys throw some FPL League Codes towards me (Regular League Code in particular). Hoping to be regular here for the entire season, unlike last year.

  4. Morning lads. Just catching up on MOTD; Jese looks great value at 6 mill. Fixtures are 1 good 1 bad for the next 6 weeks though hmmm.

    • Yeah easier games are away though so not sure

      • Maybe wait and see then. You got many playing today Smash?

        • I’ve got Ritchie, Ince, Davies and Kane today with Jesus and KDB tomorrow. I’m really starting to need points though as really struggling

    • I watched that myself last night Milburn.

      I expected him to be classified as striker so at 6.0 in midfield, it certainly peaked my interest.

      Did you see the Southampton game? Couldn’t believe how quick Gabbiadini was in running on to the first goal! Lightning.

      • Yeah Gabbi has bags of potential but I’m still scorned off him at the back end of last season. It’s hard not to hold grudges in this game but it’ll be even harder not to get him in if he continues scoring.

  5. Also interested to hear any stats/theories on the “magic trio” dilemma — is it prudent to:

    (1) pick three players from the same team;

    2) if, so, which combo (3 attack or 2 attack+def/gk); and

    3) how many trios is too many?!?

    2) {Kane/Eriksen/Alli/Davies/Lloris};
    3) {Firmino/Mane/Salah};
    4) {Man City)

    5) add a West Brom and perhaps a Southampton defender/gk

    I feel these players will form the backbone of the template team this season…

      I don’t mind tripling at all and United look primed just now so option 1 there night be something I’ll have next weekend. I have DDG and Lukaku just now.

      I wouldn’t triple up twice as that’s more than half of your playing team depending entirely on two results so that’s an unnecessary risk I think.

      My next choice would be City I think.

      • GP – Yeah, right? I agree. I guess budget constraints will come in to play too…. And there’d be a quite a few successful template teams esp. w/ so many promising attacking options this season.

        FYI, top fpl scorer so far has kept the same team from the start (no transfers):

        de Gea
        Hegazi / Davies / Cedric / Fuchs (/ G. Johnson)
        Mane / Eriksen / Pogba / Salah (/Kante)
        Lukaku / Firmino (/ Quaner)

    • Remember the Fuchs/Mahrez/Vardy trio?

      I like the look of Jones/Pogba/Lukaku.

    • Ive got Lukaku,Mikki and Jones and am considering Ali or Erikson to go with Kane and Davies.Tripling up on 2 teams does seem a bit much but if they have the form and fixtures I don’t see why not.

      • Bookyboy — defo tempting! So you reckon tripling up w/ 1FW, 1MF and 1DF is the way to go with e.g. United (as opposed to 1FW + 2Mids)? I’m torn especially with Mikki and Pogba’s prices/value… Wanna go Lukaku/Mikki/Pogba.

    • Not going to care about cash restrictions, and will just put in the essential players:

      Foster
      Jones, Stephens, Davies
      Mane, Pogba
      Lukaku, Kane

      • That sounds about right. Trippier instead of Davies if he’s back today

      • Not too clear on the third striking spot at the moment. I like the look of Jesus, but Morata is auditioning this GW for that place as well.

        • Both Pogba and Mkhitaryan is great atm, but i think Pogba is a more likley to take freekicks and a bigger threat at set pieces ( at the end of corners and such).
          But i might be wrong smile

      Three man u, one of them defender, make your pick(valencia or baily or jones), plus the must lukaku, the other miki or pogba, one more budget or medium defender( saints or wba,foster too) one more premium def from spurs or city, up front one pool( no more) i d choose firminio, never rotation danger on pens two, in midfield, bargains, philips, ince, gro?, or even tadic and willian.Up front one more attacker of city, kevin in middle or jesus as striker.

      Pretty much this is the backbone of a wildcard right now for the first 7-8 gw.

    • As of now, it has to be Pogba/Mhki, Lukaku, Bailey, Erik/Alli, Hegazi, Trippier, Mane/Salah, Aguero/Jesus.. A lot can change after tonight’s game though and tomorrow too.
