Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 20

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 20. We hope that you are showing signs of life again after a few hectic days of festivities. GW19 came and went with haste and we’ve even had a day off to take stock and consider our transfers. It’s a lazy approach into GW20 too with a late 2pm deadline, the only downside being that it is on a Saturday so your pesky ML rivals may actually remember to check their teams this week.

Much like its predecessor this one is squeezed into two days and we begin with five 3pm games but outside of Spurs featuring, and perhaps Richarlison, and maybe the odd budget defender, there may be sporadic fantasy interest, certainly from any big hitters anyway. There should be more in the early evening game as Liverpool host Arsenal at 5.30pm.

Sunday sees Chelsea visit Palace for starters at 12pm, Burnley vs West Ham and Saints vs Man City provide the mains at 2.15pm before the dessert at 4.15pm in the shape of Man United vs Bournemouth.

The games in full…

Stick close to both our Fixture Tracker and our on-site Countdown Timer to keep track of when each GW begins in this hectic festive period, the one remaining deadline is as follows (all times are GMT) –

GW21 Tuesday 1st January 11.30AM

Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.

Good luck to absolutely everyone for Gameweek 20 from all at FF247!

Thanks for reading Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 20.

  1. Morning looking ahead. Are these moves a bit mad for a -4. A lot depends how Martial gets on today.
Auba, Højbjerg and Snoddy/Delafeau in for KDB, Martial and Kamara?

    • Not really a fan of those moves. Why not just Kdb to Anderson ?

    • Very mad, no need for that. I think you can hold that midfield, which is a good midfield, and just assess Martial (who could and maybe should become Pogba). Lovren to TAA if you’ve 2FT and an itch to scratch.

Or just shout at Kamara for a bit.

    • Thanks more normal move is KDB to prob Sane. Hopefully Sane drops again then I can afford TAA in for Lovren. Anderson is also an option

    • Apparently KDB hasn’t made the squad for today’s game against saints, don’t you like Anderson or pogba?

I’ve liked the look of deulefeo, I would avoid Kamara after yesterday’s shenanigans

      • Nah I have Jimenez to come in so I’m happy about that. Just think City will be back to winning ways today. I like Anderson not convinced by Pogba though will see how United get on today

  2. 39 pts from 4 players yesterday! Happy with that start smile

    • Great score, hopefully you will double that today.

      • Cheers Mitro, fingers crossed.

On another point, why are so many people transferring Auba out? He’s got Fulham at home next game! I’ll be putting the armband on him. Do you think people are just trying to free up funds for Mo?

        • Yes, all the other premium players are losing ownership due to Mo Rage smile

        • Lol smile Form is temporary, Mo is permanent!

  3. Despite salah i managed to get 33 points.

So i haven’t done too bad and i still got a green arrow and have a chance to climb in my friends league to 10.

Things are still on the up. Right now i am planning..my next move..most likely after mid week.

    • The way i see it its going to be down to KBD or Salah or Hazard or Kane.

At the moment i can only keep 3/4 of the guys.

Kane i am happy with him, Hazard is on fire at the moment. So Sane / KBD have show what they can do in the next 2 games.

  4. Some thoughts for those thinking of bringing back Salah:
    1. Obviously a player who scores 12 pts/GW (like Salah has done over the past 5 GWs) will improve your team. There’s no question about that.
    2. But those points have been scored, and you won’t get them by signing him now. Looking forward, on average you can’t expect a player to score more than about 8 pts/GW (which is slightly more than Salah averaged either last season or in the first half of this season).
    3. How much does it really affect your ranking not to have a player who’s scoring 8 pts/GW? That depends who you’ve signed instead. Taking the example of the site team, it obviously hurt to miss out on that GW16 hattrick. That would hurt any team. But, after that (when Salah scored 2 and then 12), the site team held onto its ranking of around 80k because it had chosen good enough replacements. Since then it benefited from re-signing Salah after which he scored 12 and 12. But he’s not going to do that every week.
    4. Conclusion: Buying Salah at this point isn’t necessarily a bad idea, but neither is it guaranteed to move you up the rankings. It depends on who you’re losing in order to afford him.

    • #bringbacksalah smile

    • Yeah apart from this week when he’s at City you are going to want Salah back

      • The way he is playing I can see him getting another double digit

    • Those are really good points and thanks for bringing that to the discussion. It’s refreshing to see well-written and informed pieces, with good examples to back up the points.

I wouldn’t disagree with any of that (but would state I am a Salah owner, so am less jittery about him). However I suppose that contextually a few managers may be seeing Salah owners breaking away in their mini-leagues, which adds another layer to things.

    • I agree. I don’t have Salah and I captained Sterling for 2pters in the last 2 weeks and I still managed to get green arrows. 20k overall rn.

      • I was going to add but forgot to – was that I was moving between him (Salah) and Sterling for a bit. I covered Liverpool with Shaq for a while, and just about got away with it. I got lucky with the Sterling to Salah timing. Nobody anticipated the City drop in form. Something I suspect we’ll see end later today.

    • One thing to factor in is Captains. Whilst you may get 2 mid-priced players instead of Salah and a cheap’un you’re far more likely to captain Salah than any other. A good captain showing is what makes a good game week.

      https://www.gargatron.com

I found this very informative. I could have scored over 200 extra points by simply picking the right captain each week.

      • It’s already factored in. Practically every team has a couple of premium players (whether Salah or others such as Kane or Hazard), and most people choose one of them to captain. I’ve got Salah but plan to captain Auba next GW because Ful (h) is easier than Man C (a).

      • SAF, I’ve been using gargatron for years.Captain selection is very important but the most scary bit is: Total score of unused subs.
Mine stands on 220 points so far :noshake:

        • Mine is at 149 but I’ve lost almost 250 points on poor captain choices!

      • SAF, I have 162 less than the highest possible. I doubt many have achieved the top marks.
What would be yours if had you swapped all C / VC?

        • Not much in it. Only an extra 30 so I’m happy with that

    • A very obvious post with no real conclusion.

      • It may be obvious to you, B, but you’re a more successful manager than most of us! And several on here seem desperate to bring him in even if it means uprooting a sound squad.

    • Decent points, but as somebody pointed out the premium assets come down to captain potential and value for money.Liverpool are currently the best team in the league with great form scoring loads of goals and Salah is their main point scorer. He looks back to his best and is arguably the most consistent point scorer in the game right now which makes him the best captain option most weeks. In fact there is an argument to just perma captain him right now ! Of course it depends on who you remove from your team and would have to be another premium upper priced player.Nailing that bit is the hardest bit !

  5. Will Balbuena play? Have Doherty first on bench.

    • Nah doubt he plays

    • I tend to get on the blower to managers and ask them. It’s quicker. Sometimes I get lucky and bump into them at the supermarket. They’re often quite open about these things. I advised Pellegrini once about the difference between basic and normal baked beans.

      Pellegrini loves a chat.

  6. Crystal Palace: Guiata; Wan-Bissaka, Tomkins, Sakho, Van Aanholt; McArthur, Milivojevic, Kouyate, Schlupp; Townsend, Zaha. Subs: Hennessey, Ward, Dann, Meyer, Puncheon, Wickham, Ayew.

Chelsea: Kepa; Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Rudiger, Alonso; Jorginho, Kante, Barkley; Willian, Giroud, Hazard. Subs: Caballero, Emerson, Zappacosta, Christensen, Ampadu, Kovacic, Morata.
