Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 21

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 21. If you made it this far without missing a deadline give yourself a pat on the back. And if you think you’re tired just imagine how the players are feeling! This is the last GW in the marathon Christmas period though, so you them and us all can breathe a sigh of relief and take a break for a week or so to recover.

New Year’s Day itself has a disappointingly low number of fixtures with just three games this year, for some bizarre reason. Everton and Leicester kick us off at lunchtime before Arsenal and Fulham play the solitary ‘traditional’ 3pm game on their lonesome. Cardiff and Spurs bring up the rear at 5.30pm.

We then skip to Wednesday evening for the bulk of this week’s action with 6 games in total. The remaining one is on Thursday night and should in theory be the game of the week, if not the whole Christmas period, or indeed the season. If only they all had any legs left… Oh, it’s Man City vs Liverpool by the way. Cracking time to play what may be a season decider that isn’t it?!

The games in full…

Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.

Good luck to absolutely everyone for Gameweek 21 from all at FF247!

What do guy’s think of this team?

      DMC says:

It misses Salah. Martial looks to slowly (or from next gw on) lose his spot to Sanchez. Does Auba->Arnie, Martial->Salah work?

      • Aarron13 says:

I would want to keep kane though?, 2 Highest goalscorers in the league are Kane and Auba, who would you replace Martial with?

        • inittowinit says:

Salah, judging by what he said laugh

        • Aarron13 says:

Who would you replace Martial with?, think he’ll lose his spot to Alexis

        • Kralin says:

Maybe Pogba as he’s probably more nailed.

Why not try a reach-around and help some other managers? It’s good to give as well as to take.

        • inittowinit says:

          Salah 😉

Joking aside though, depends how much resolve you have in keeping the big 2 up top as opposed to submitting to him. The problem you have with him is his explosiveness and ability to suddenly go nuts at any given point, plus the fact that he will probably be a majority captain on most weeks.

        • Aarron13 says:

Rashford or pogba is a tough choice

        • DMC says:

This. And yes, both have one more goal than him (and one more game) but he still has 20-ish more points than them (with a game in hand). Granted he’s more expensive, but he’s worth every penny. He’s also owned by more players and a viable captain every week.

If you really don’t want him, then perhaps Anderson or Pogba or a Spurs mid if they are in reach.

Is Guaita the regular GK for CRY now? Or is Hennessey expected back soon? Am out of the loop on this one. He would make a decent 2nd GK with Etheridge.

    elcfc says:

Would you transfer Martial out for Pogba?

Fear of rotation being the major factor here, and have no other United cover

    jamesimmo says:

To see Watford score 3 goals away from home to Bournemouth but have both Deulofeu and Pereyra blank? That’s a bitter pill to swallow. Anyway, who needs midfielders, eh? Even if the captaincy decision wasn’t quite right… 😉

      • jamesimmo says:

What can I say? laugh it’s more impressive that you’ve persevered with Fraser for this long! Fair play.

        • DMC says:

Aha yeah I can be stubborn at times. Bought him at 5.5 and won’t be selling him bar any dgw needs etc. Too good value for money. Him and Richarlison by that matter. Pereyra is up there too in terms of value per £ so I’d keep him and sell ‘the other Watford mid’.

        • jamesimmo says:

Sound advice. I don’t have nearly as much value tied up in The Watford Mids, but it’s impressive how consistent Pereyra’s been, you’re right.

I don’t blame you for trusting Fraser at his price: he seems to go 4 or 5 matches without a sniff before delivering another double-digit fat score. ‘The Poundland Hazard’ conundrum!

        • DMC says:

To be fair to him he hasn’t blanked for more than two games in a row this season. And has those 5 two digit hauls. It’s insane. More tough fixtures ahead though, so perhaps keep but not buy.

      inittowinit says:

Who has 2 Watford mids?! Not even GKW has two Watford mids. Well ok, I’ve not actually checked that he doesn’t but I wouldn’t imagine so as he seems like quite a sensible chap smile

      • jamesimmo says:

I was on my Wildcard and I couldn’t decide between the two — surely the dullest dilemma that any manager has ever faced — and, well, you know the rest… 😉

Deulofeu still seems worth owning, based on what I’ve seen, but you’re spot on. No sane man would’ve done this. I’ll persevere for their two remaining ‘nice’ fixtures and then act like this debacle never happened.

      • gkw says:

Indeed, Init, I have only Pereyra. Deulofeu and Doucouré aren’t bad value but there are just too many better higher-value midfield options at other clubs.
Up front I do have Deeney, whom I left on the bench last night (15 points)…

        • Kralin says:

Bad luck. I try to con myself when I leave points on the bench that my skills as a manager means not only do I have a good first XI, but an excellent bench too.

      Aarron13 says:

That’s actually my front 3 now, will Rashford start all the time?

      • jamesimmo says:

Good stuff. It’s a satisfying trio! As for Rashford’s minutes? It’s hard to see him being dropped in his current form, but with the likes of Sanchez and Lukaku waiting on the bench, we probably won’t ever feel completely assured…

        • Aarron13 says:

If it backfires could always switch to Jiminez?, I can’t see Rashford being dropped on current form

    igy4 says:

Thinking a couple of game weeks ahead, how do these moves look? Taking out Son when he leaves for Asian games, Martial, Wilson and Jimenez? All depends on price rises and injuries/suspensions of course!

    chins says:

    Hi all. Happy new year.

Looking some early thoughts on this lot for next gameweek.
    1 FT and 0.4ITB.
Concerned about Rashfords game time now Lukaku and Sanchez are back.
Son has to be gone after one more game.
Feel like I dodged a bullet, not having Hazard this week. I don’t think I want to risk not having him at home to Newcastle.
Alonso might have to go if funds are needed.
    Here’s my current team.
    Thanks all.

      Aarron13 says:

Personally I can’t see Rashford getting dropped he’s in form, any united player who’d get dropped it would be Martial

      • chins says:

Thoughts on squeezing Hazard in here Aaron?

        • Kralin says:

To get Hazard (when presumably you want to keep Kane and Salah) then Alonso to a cheapo or Jiminez to a cheapo, probably a very cheapo, a Peltier like cheapo, may give you sufficient bread to swap Son for the Haz.

        • Aarron13 says:

I’ve got Hazard in my current team, I’d put him in instead of son who’s leaving after the united game you got any spare funds?
