Hello everyone – just airing my plans for the future (next few GWs, leading up to GW24).
Here is my current team – in fact it should do fairly well, but (And hindsight is a fierce mistress I have to admit!) should have transferred out Alli instead of Richarlison to get in KDB. But that’s life!

Plans to beef up the potential for GW 24 include:
Alli > Richarlison (next GW) then Richo > Felipé Anderson for GW 23
    Soyuncu > Robertson/VVD….or Rashford > Firmino for GW 24

What say you? Too many shuffles? Cut out the Alli>Richo move? Forget Anderson & just get Noble in (for someone like Cantwell?)
I feel that these moves actually maximise potential and in the long run, having 3 Liverpuddlians seems reasonable – although having 3 Hammers indicates madness (over the course of a whole season, but not as a temporary measure!).
Any replies gratefully accepted – compliments doubly so!
    Bye for now! Tootle pip!
    smile

I read a few Spurs’ fans comments last night and they mainly seemed aghast at the way they’re playing; the honeymoon seems over.

But I fear you have too many shuffles in there – the Alli – Rich – Anderson seems over-complicated (just sticking with Richarlison seems fine to me). I may ditch Alli myself.

Given that Liverpool’s start to the season hasn’t been the worst, having three of their players doesn’t seem that bad a position to be in – at any stage. I’ve gone down the two defenders plus midfielder route (I haven’t spotted a side who’ve conceded less goals, but maybe I’ve missed something) but cannot really find fault in any other permutation.

Yes maybe a cheaper WHU option just to have something up your sleeve for the DGW. I’m looking at Fab only for now but I daresay I may squeeze another in somehow.

Thank you Kralin – as I’m oft inclined to say ‘The Voice of Reason’ (along with Initt, you help us keep a steady line!) – although I know you would be reluctant to accept this heavy mantle. Hope the first days of 2020 (what wonderful symmetry it embodies!) have treated you kindly. Many thanks again, AJW smile

        • AJW says:

Perhaps there is a deeper malaise at Tottenham than the simple signing of a modern day Vasco da Gama is capable of redressing? Wonder what Harry Kane thinks of it all? He always looks so reasonable (well his facial expressions give this impression!).

        • Kralin says:

It is a bit of a cliché but I would play your own game as well – nothing’s more satisfying (in this sphere) than when a punt works out. It’s just when chasing a good OR, or being certain of winning a mini-league, that caution tends to rule the way.

On the subject of 2020, the new jazz age, (though we’re pretty much in the wasteland now) I remembered yesterday a book I’d once seen – ‘The Dunces of Paris’ I think it was called. It featured the less than bright members of Hemingway et als entourages – people who went on tours of the WW1 battlefields and got blown up by ignoring minefield signs; people whose poetry could best be described as doggerel.

Listened to a recording of TS Eliot reading (speaking of your references!) of Lovesong of J Alfred Prufrock the other day – sounds like a rather genial old fellow – one of the positive points of that part of the 20th century! Dunno if TS could help solve my OR woes or chronic indecision (and headstrong foolishness!) when faced with transfers! Yes I get your point that at the end of the day, you just have to play your own game, assume your decisions and get on with it (I think Hamlet and I would have been similar FPL players! smile ).
Bye for now – else I’ll start to sound pretentious! I’m really just an ordinary dilettante/procrastinator (AJW – don’t do things like that – you’ll go blind!)/time waster/mug (+ self-critic, hahaha!!!)
          Thanks for your help Kralin!

        • Kralin says:

Reading – or indeed, listening – to that stuff is the perfect antidote to indecision.

          So how should I presume?

I don’t know a lot about Eliot but I think he was extremely highly-strung and running a fantasy side would I’m sure have engendered a couple of nervous breakdowns; and The Four Quartets would probably have become The Two Halves.

          HURRY UP PLEASE ITS TIME

        • AJW says:

And the Wasteland the story of many an FPL player’s season hopes!

Am not an Eliot expert, merely an appreciative sometime reader.

Our references are vast and eclectic like everyone’s, and maybe in there somewhere we can find a gem that helps us deal with which Liverpool player to buy, and whether or not it’s worth picking up Richarlison (again for me, as it will be the 2nd time!) or Anderson! Ancelotti or Moyes anyone? Oh no, never before 11am! Ah idle hands are indeed the devil’s playthings! Keep your hand off that transfer button AJW!

    1ft and 0.0 itb…

Starting to think that Alli should go for someone a little cheaper. Richarlison is a little cheaper, is in ok form and got some nice fixtures ahead. Is it too early to get rid of Alli?

My team and Richarlison’s fixtures below:

Sounds like a plan. Those 0.8 could improve a defender quite a bit…

    Hello all

I have 2 FTs & 0.4 ITB, what do you think to the following?

Kane and Alli to Jimenez and mane?

    Jamie Mc says:

    Hi mitro,

Although there is no news of the severity of kane’s injury, if it is a hamstring injury then I suspect he will be unavailable for a good few game weeks. With the amount of money invested in kane then he is a must for one of your free transfers.

Jimenez has two easier fixtures in Newcastle at home and then Southampton away. After that he has liverpool at home, Manchester United away, Leicester city at home and spurs away in four of next five fixtures. I am not too sure how you treat transfers as a long term based on a run of easy fixtures or short term based on say a fixture or two so absolutely nothing wrong with that transfer.

Dele Alli may become much more relevant in an attacking sense particularly with son now free from suspension. Again nothing wrong with transferring in mane for him.

Is bringing in aguero or Aubameyang an option to consider for kane?
As you have Salah then perhaps richarlson is another possibility. Everton do have a nice run of fixtures in their next five game weeks.

I have two free transfers and nothing itb.

Tottenham’s lack of clean sheets and in particular gazzanigga’s inability to save anything on target has finally made me decide to change my goalkeeper. My other goalkeeper is non playing McGovern.

I also have too much money invested in my fifth midfielder so doucoure needs to go.

That will give me £10.1m to spend on replacements.

What is the best combination of transfers:-
    Pickford and rice.
    Fabianski and snodgrass
    Ryan and noble.

I really like Brighton and Everton upcoming fixtures and with a west ham double game week then feel a west ham player is worth a punt.

    Something else?

    Thanks

    Jamie

I went Fabianski, partly for that reason but also partly because the first thing Moyes was going to fix was the defence. I wouldn’t particularly expect CS’s in the double itself but double points on any saves is always good. I’m not sold on any of their outfield budget options though. That was probably an anomaly.

      • AJW says:

Hey there Initt. Happy NY! What do you think of Felipe Anderson? Read in the paper that he was superb on Wednesday – then again it was only Bournemouth, (but who have surprised on one or 2 occasions remember). Anyway, hope all is well in Initt-land. Apparently the South Africans are proving to be more than worthy opponents over there in the test series.
Speak to you soon and bye for now! smile

        • inittowinit says:

HNY to you too AJW! Not really even considered him or indeed any WHU outfield players. And nor will I unless they suddenly start sticking 4 past everyone, which they won’t.

As for the cricket I’m an odd follower. I tend to leave them be between major tournaments. They all feel like friendly games before the main event, if that makes sense?

        • AJW says:

Sure does – I understand completely. Thanks for the advice. Hope all is well & you’ve recovered from the festive period! smile
