Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 21
Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 21
Relentlessly this season’s FPL schedule hurtles us straight into GW21 with Everton v Newcastle at Goodison on Saturday lunchtime – just 28 and a half hours after Liverpool dusted off Spurs to round out GW20.
Following on Saturday we have three games kicking off simultaneously in what is becoming a bit of a throwback to days when FPL was ‘normal’. At 3pm we have the Blades of Sheffield United looking to slice open the other half of Manchester as they travel to the Etihad to face City and try to secure the Manc’ double and haul themselves closer to safety.
It’s The Eagles v The Wolves at Selhurst Park and West Bromwich Albion v Fulham in a game which will be shown live on the BBC – talk about slim pickings!
Arsenal v United is the teatime offering and then it’s to the south coast, for Southampton v Aston Villa which rounds off the Saturday entertainment.
Sunday sees Chelsea v Burnley at twelve as Tuchel faces Sean Dyche for the first time (someone should warn him he’s not the pitchside security) then Leicester v Leeds follows at 2pm.
To round off the weekend, Thursday’s gladiators make their appearance as Liverpool head to the London Stadium to challenge Top Four rivals West Ham (yep) and Spurs head to the Amex for an appointment, minus Harry Kane (probably), with the Seagulls of Brighton.
The games in full…

For a change, going well for me. 50(-4) with Son, Dallas and Robbo left to play.
Need Robbo on scoresheet
You say that every week.
What do I say every week Smash?
You need a goal from Robbo
Hahaha. Ok. Hope today is the day..
Ha ha Smash
Good stuff. Fortunately nobody in my main ML has managed such a Herculean feat (yet).
Son is my main worry today, in a very minor worry way.
Cheers Kralin. I hope the opposite though.
Well indeed. Though seeing regulars do well is painless as it has no consequence at all on one’s own ML(s). One can take constant vicarious pleasure (and not a little pride) in our own happy fantasy family.
Just one of those weeks Kralin. Lot to come still though.
I know. I never really get overly excited until the dust settles. The OR I have now is not the OR I’ll have tomorrow morning (and really the only important OR is the one after GW38). We all know what last minute goals can do to our scores.
It’s completely relentless at the moment. I knew there were 5 GW in Feb but hadn’t realised the next GW starts in a couple of days.
Personally I’m just trying to hang on in there, keep up with the average, and hope to attack the DGW and get a few points there. Shucks, I may even try to roll my transfer this week. Have barely had chance to even do that this year.
I am planning to hold my FT too Kralin. Being patient, is not one of my virtues. But, I’ve planned on keeping my hands tight on the transfers in the later half of the season, or else I might not even make top 1m, leave 100k.
Having said that, I was disappointed to see Saka marked as injured so I may have to move him on if it looks serious. A deep bench is needed at the moment with the inevitability of rotation, given the volume of games.
Not having any Villa asset hurts every GW. Although shouldn’t complain with 6.5k OR. Expect a small green arrow. Fine..
Can’t be hurting much with that rank
I’m very sorry to hear about the Villa travails.
I’ll organise a whip-round later and we’ll try to scrape together a few quid for you.
Condolences.
Some nice news.
Young William started GW19 with a rank of 2.99mln.
He then posted 145pts in GW19, 74pts in GW20, is currently on 33pts this week with Wilson (13) and Holding (8) coming off his bench for Saka and Stones.
I can’t wait to see his rank following this GW.
Am so pleased for him.
I’m taking all the credit obviously.
Some not so good news:
I won’t get Wilson’s points should Soucek and Son play, which they surely will. William’s fault.
That’s momentum for you. Can all change very quickly
I’m sure none of it would have hapened but for your expert mentoring (though maybe he’s just going down the opposite route of whatever you’re telling him, as the younger generation is (wisely) wont to do).
He’s got this game sussed :good: ! I too live through my child’s victories – makes me feel alive 😎 !
Morning all.
Twitter chatter about Mane being injured, anyone on here seen anything?
Morning Eric.
No (though admittedly I go nowhere near social media); depressing if true considering the way he played the other night.
You managed to scoop the entire world though with that postponement news so will be keeping an eye open.
Maybe you can bring me sunshine later and tell me it’s not true.
Ha ha, I don’t use Twitter at all but apparently there’s rumours.
Also Robertson took Mane out of his Fantasy team before deadline and apparently the last time he did that, Mane was benched.
I’ve never really checked out that angle but it’s an interesting angle. Whether or not they captain themselves, etc. It’s a more interesting angle to me than the leaked team-sheets, though mercifully that’s died a death now.
Mane may well get a breather today, or for 60 mins (unless of course he’s injured, which given your pedigree he probably is).
I saw that. Looked to me he was funding DCL so not convinced: I’ve seen rumours
Yeah dropped Mane to Son and Bamford up to DCL
But then why would you take Mane out so must be a major doubt
Teams
Thanks
Alonso is back!
Avg age of that Chelsea backline is ~30-31years, feels somewhat unsustainable. But what do I know…. Seems to be very different from Frank’s style
Think he’s trying to be more solid and build from that. Problem under Lamps was we were quite open at times. It’s whether we can create enough playing like this
Not sure I would count Alonso as solid, but interesting to see him back.
Alonso is a decent LWB he’s a shocking LB.
Looks like a 3-4-3 with CHO and Alonso to step up and generate a lot of the play. Doesn’t seem like a bad idea to me, I’ve always looked a Alonso being more of a midfielder type player
It’s also 5 at the back. It’s not Alonso in a back four
CHO as RWB then?
Yeah I think so
1-0 at half-time thanks to an Azpi goal (CHO assist). I don’t own him anymore, but Werner’s had 2 very tame shots saved comfortably by Pope. Timo can run but his finishing needs work!
Not watching, but it seems Burnley hasn’t had a single chance all game – not even a corner…
Looks pretty solid . Not sure Chelsea will score loads of goals though
