Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 23

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 23. We’ve gone from feast to famine in terms of a hectic Christmas and NY period to the lull of FA Cup weekend. However we return to normality this week – a 3-day gameweek! We kick off with six 3pm matches – Danny Drinkwater gets a chance to show his old employers how far he has come as he watches Chelsea host Leicester. From the bench presumably. Palace welcome Burnley, West Ham go to Huddersfield, basement dwellers Swansea travel to Newcastle, Watford and Saints meet at Vicarage Road and Lord Pardew looks to continue West Brom’s brilliant run as they host Brighton. The evening match sees bus driver Big Sam drive down to Spurs.

Sunday sees two matches – first up is Wilshere’s journey back to his best days as Arsenal go to Bournemouth before the highlight of the gameweek as Raheem is another to make a return as Man City take the short trip across to Liverpool.

Our gameweek concludes with a Monday night special as under fire Mark Hughes continues the themes of returns as he takes his relegation threatened Stoke lot to Man United.

  1. Is this worth it for a -4? Would be taking out Son, Richarlison and DCL for Pogba Arnie and Ayew.

    • Can’t fault those moves. It’s a yes from me.

    • Ayew had pool next. With vvd starting I don’t see a goal fest maybe 1 or 2 tops for the team.

  2. It feels like a long time with no Kane – the man that has kept my point total to the level that a blind fantasy football novice could muster by randomly throwing darts at a wall of Prem photos!
But there is a slither of hope that I might achieve the dizzy heights of 2nd from bottom of my league with this reckless move!
No wild cards, no Free hit, no triple captain and no idea of how I manage to stumble through an average day without some kind of mental aid!

…… Thoughts? ……. about the team!

    • I would consider Maguire instead of Stones – no European ties so won’t get rotated, and has a lot more attacking threat. Leicester have a decent run-in for the season – only 3 games against the “big 6” to play, whereas City have 4. They both have the same points per game for the season so far.

No Kane is a quandary – I sold him immediately before his pair of hat-tricks, but have gone up 200K places since then – though I’ll admit it is squeaky bum time every time Spurs play!

      • Cheers Red. Maguire has been in most of my drafts but nobody has Stones.
        Quandary zone

        • I take it you mean the rest of your mini-league have Maguire?

If you fancied a bit of a punt, Luke Shaw has started the last four for Utd and would free up some funds to upgrade Martina to Kenny!

        • Cheers Red

          What about this instead?

        • Or this …

        • I prefer the one with Courtois in goal, but not a great deal in it. In the other one I would pick Otamendi above Walker unless that is a differential from your ML.

        • Courtois is my preferred one too. More balanced.
Want Alonso but can’t have everything

  3. Have no idea whether I should be ripping my team up to get Aguero in. He actually hasn’t been doing much over the last block of fixtures, but his fixtures maybe warrant it. It would mean binning Son or Sterling though.

Anyone think Sterling won’t start next week? He was naff!

    • I have him and am happy I do. He had 3 very good chances against pool. Don’t see Newcastle holding him out. I’d be over the moon if he got a brace. Don’t see much more then that, have him 50/50 cap with salah or maybe kane

      • My issue is it would almost certainly be for a hit, and Kane, Firmino and Vardy all have fairly good fixtures. If Kane were to make way it wouldn’t be before Soton, I don’t think.

    • It might hurt not having Kun but Sterling has been way more consistent this season, and selling Vardy (home vs Watford) or Firmino (away to Swansea) could hurt you even more. Can’t see it being worth it beyond the next 2 GW’s, if that.

      • Cheers Robbo. Hope you’re right! In which case, I have 2FTs to throw away 😉

      • Sane used to outscore Sterling when they both played so I’m hoping Pep keeps the faith as he’s played the last 3
