Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 23

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 23. We’ve gone from feast to famine in terms of a hectic Christmas and NY period to the lull of FA Cup weekend. However we return to normality this week – a 3-day gameweek! We kick off with six 3pm matches – Danny Drinkwater gets a chance to show his old employers how far he has come as he watches Chelsea host Leicester. From the bench presumably. Palace welcome Burnley, West Ham go to Huddersfield, basement dwellers Swansea travel to Newcastle, Watford and Saints meet at Vicarage Road and Lord Pardew looks to continue West Brom’s brilliant run as they host Brighton. The evening match sees bus driver Big Sam drive down to Spurs.

Sunday sees two matches – first up is Wilshere’s journey back to his best days as Arsenal go to Bournemouth before the highlight of the gameweek as Raheem is another to make a return as Man City take the short trip across to Liverpool.

Our gameweek concludes with a Monday night special as under fire Mark Hughes continues the themes of returns as he takes his relegation threatened Stoke lot to Man United.

  1. Whats everyones thoughts on Christensen’s game time now?

    • I weren’t worried about him generally until today. Not sure why he did not play. If Cahill is injured think I’ll just leave him

      • hi Smash – Cahill is listed at 75% is the problem though and Luiz is also now available I believe. Similar to you, wasnt worried until today but now I could downgrade and use the cash.

        • I don’t think Luiz is a problem he seems very out of favour. I see no massive reason to keep him though as he’s been very frustrating since I bought him

        • I bought him the week he got sick Smash

        • Same as me

    • Seems Conte rested him because he played midweek.Chelsea play midweek again but Cahill is now injured so who knows. Its the 3rd time now hes been benched while ive had him and i think Chelsea have got a cleanie every time !! Very frustrating so as ive got Alonso anyway i think im gonna swap him for Jones.Defence has been letting me down for weeks now.

      • I’m a little heavy at the back already with Vertoghen, Ota, Alonso and DDG.

        • Vert’ price is tough to justify vs their schedule.
Ota doesn’t go so much forward now as he used to.

You might wanna lose one of them (Vert if u ask me) and use the funds elsewhere…

        • hey HL – how goes it? In theory, I plan to lose Vertoghen after the next gw before his tough schedule. In theory. Could have other problems. I plan to keep Ota I think.

  2. Some fantastic scores in here, well done fellas. I’m on 66 with 4 to play, best part is nobody in my ML has Son or Arnie. Kapow!!

    • Hey Red – you are having a good season. What’s your Morata plan? Keeping or binning?

      • Thanks Dreamers, made some silly mistakes this season or I’d be much better off, but I’m hanging in there.

I can’t get rid of Morata fast enough, he’s sh!te. Original plan was Son and Morata out for Albrighton and Aguero with my 2FT, leaving enough to get Alonso next. Would really like to keep Son for one more gw though, so I’m not so sure now! What are you thinking?

        • Hey Red

Thinking I need to get back in either Salah or KDB for Ali. So its probably one of Christensen, Vertoghen or Morata to go. Ideally I’d keep Vertoghen another week.

        • Of those three I’d dump Morata first and keep Vert for Southampton away next week. If Cahill is out for a bit that’s gotta be good for Christensen’s game time, even with Luiz sniffing around.

        • not huge choice in downgrading Morata other than Firmino and Vardy though. Half keeping an eye on Tosun but Allardyce talking about going defensive and were shit today

        • Yeah, there aren’t many decent options up front. How about upgrading him instead of downgrading? Aguero has two sweet home fixtures next and Jesus is crocked, could be some big points there. The (only) nice thing about Morata is he allows a pretty easy upgrade to Aguero. You just need to find £1.2 under the sofa cushions somewhere!

        • I can find that (I think), the question is – which one of Ageuro, Salah or KDB would you have? In the short term, I think only one is possible.

        • Salah on form, fixtures, and no possibility of a blank in GW28

        • hey Mr. Bean

          How you getting on?

Who is at risk of blanking gw28?

        • Yeah, that’s a tough choice. If Aguero starts the next two he could really smash it, but going without Salah hurts when he puts points up with his ownership so high. I’d watch tomorrow’s match and see what happens, maybe the path will be clearer after that. Could be suspensions, injuries, etc.

        • 5 at the back experiment is going well now that i’m cheating and playing 4 at the back 😉

City, Arsenal, United and Chelsea could all potentially blank GW 28 depending on Carabao cup results in a week and a half (amongst other things).

        • “5 at the back experiment is going well now that i’m cheating and playing 4 at the back” Lol, that made my laugh Mr Bean laugh

        • Big score there Bean. Brave call not having Kane but its working for you

  3. Ready for next week?

  4. OR has updated, average was 30. Yeehaw!

  5. Evening all,
I cant keep Christensen any longer especially seeing as my ML leader has both alonso and azpi.
So I can replace him with either Azpi or Alonso but which one?
    1ft 1.9itb

    • I think Hazard to Salah is a better move this week personally.

      • Thats a good shout Mr Bean, Ive decided to definately do that once all tje games have been played. What do you think of Hegazi to Azpi as well for a hit and leave Depoitre on the bench?

        • Only because I still think Christensen plays next weekend (don’t hold me to that :winksmile. Probably good to wait till midweek cup fixtures before deciding that though.

I don’t think Azpi pays you back immediately with a -4 and Depotire vs Stoke could be a great differential.

How far behind are you in the ML?

        • About a hundred points and im in 2nd! Hes used his free hit though and my team value is higher so with some smart moves during the dgws i can make it up but him having 2 chelsea at the back and christensen not benefitting from cs is partly why that gap is so big now

        • It’d be 96 if he had laugh

        • Yeh your right, Christensen very well might come good. Just very frustrated with the game time. I’ll wait if I can and try to keep the transfer rage at bay smile

        • Lol laugh every point counts

        • db – 96 at this point is nothing.

A hit for a defender rarely pays off. Everton are not exactly in a good run.

        • + if i played Hegazi over Depoitre it would have been 91 laugh (someone advised me against that, cant remember who that was now! smile

        • Yeh your right dreamers just concerned with his double chelsea defense and Christensen not offering the points Alonso and Azpi are getting. I’ll give him more time, 1 more gw I think.

  6. So I ended the day with 61 points and I have Kun, Firminho, Ota and Jones left to play. Decent week. laugh
