Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 24

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 24. We all love a good old midweek schedule. Especially the ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ kind when we have two nights of fixtures that all begin and finish within a couple of hours of intense action. And then we have to take stock, count up our points / injuries and leap / limp onto another new game-week beginning on Saturday.

And it looks like a fairly good spread over both nights in terms of fantasy interest, none of this 4 mid-table clashes on a Saturday afternoon nonsense, as all the interesting ones play out on TV elsewhere. Tuesday sees us with no less than 6 games as Arsenal (and Aubayeyang owners particularly) will be hoping for a spanking of Cardiff, Fulham desperately need a result against a Brighton team who don’t particularly need one themselves, but usually prove to frustrate those who do, Huddersfield look to add another nail to Marco Silva’s Everton coffin, which he seems quite content on constructing himself, Wolves and West Ham battle to see which one will be Jekyll and which one Hyde this week, Ole continues his live job interview at home to Burnley, and Newcastle look to frustrate Pep, probably in vain.

Wednesday is equally intriguing as Sarri takes a fractured / newly motivated* team (*delete as you see applicable) to Bournemouth, Saints and Palace hope to put more / some daylight between each other, Liverpool look to continue their title charge against Leicester and Spurs hope they can field 11 fit players against Watford.

The games in full…

Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.

Good luck to absolutely everyone for Gameweek 24 from all at FF247!

Well I was thinking Hazard>Sterling after tomorrow’s match and contingent on Hazard’s performance. Now Digne is an issue. And needs to be dealt with tonight likely. So I currently have enough to do Digne>Laporte today and still get Sterling for Hazard tomorrow. Should I consider some other defender? Currently I have no city coverage anywhere as you can see. Pereya is a concern as well as it appears his price is about to drop on me yet again.

Digne is not exactly my most favourite person right now. Left him out 2 weeks ago and had him in the side the last 2 weeks. An unceremonial boot is called for.

Last 2 weeks I sold Alonso and bought Digne. Been blessed with scores of -1 and -2. Now I need to find a replacement.

If it’s any consolation I kept the faltering Alonso, who has scored 2 and 1 in the last fortnight. Not as impressive as Digne, admittedly, but not that far behind.

Hi folks sold Jimenez for Rashford for a hit and got in digne 2 weeks ago. The gods that keep giving keeps on giving

Bad luck, LSD. But Rashford will bring you plenty of points before the season’s end, I would have thought.

Both Digne and Rashford looked sound purchases at the time. But Jimenez had great form and fixtures, so there was no reason to sell him. Rashford still looks sound, so there’s no point in switching him back to Jimenez now.

    EBC says:

The bonus points are really getting beyond a joke now.

Laporte basically gets 9 points for his goal despite conceding 2 goals. Pickford had only 2 saves and gets 2 bonus points but Richarlison scored the winner and got nothing.

      *Lindelof, not Laporte

Pickford’s passing may have had something to do with it.

I sometimes reply to these posts and say, but do you understand the way they calculate the metrics? I think unless you have a handle on that then criticism of it is fairly pointless. But I know it’s frustrating.

      • EBC says:

That’s partly the point. They say it’s all done to various stats but it very often comes down to one moment. It’s a nonsense.

Heaton doesn’t make that first save so Lindelof doesn’t get the rebound. Suddenly he goes from best player to not in the top 10?

        • Rosco says:

I don’t think we should have qualms about the keepers and defenders picking up bonus, but the key issue is attackers who are essentially punished for being attacking (taking lots of shots), hence why Salah rarely picks up bonus.

        • EBC says:

The margins are just too fine for me. Defenders could be 3-0 up and set for 3 bonus points. They concede a last minute goal through no fault of their own, it has no bearing on the game, and they lose 7 points.

        • Zed Leppelin says:

I agree with EBC here, the metrics are ridiculous! It’s the same for everyone though, and in the end it’s a game of luck anyway, captaincy choice is a lot more frustrating to me than the bonus points in FPL for instance.

      gkw says:

I vaguely recall that back in the early days of FPL the original idea of bonus points was to reward players such as defensive midfielders who make important contributions to the team without getting many goals or assists. Obviously it didn’t work out that way, and – on the contrary – bonus points often just go to players who’ve already scored the most points from CS/assists/goals. But just occasionally you do still get times when a player scores the only goal in a match but doesn’t get any BPs. Basically I think the game would be better if they just did away with BPs, but in the end they’re just one random factor amongst many.
