Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 26

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 26. And we are back already! We hope the midweek games treated you kindly but if not, don’t worry, we are straight into another GW so it can all be forgotten. And then probably all repeated again, just in case you forgot already!

We begin with Burnley hoping that their bus is big enough to contain Man City’s juggernaut. It won’t be.

We then have five 3pm games and all are much a muchness in terms of calling a winner with perhaps the exception of Man Utd hosting Huddersfield but try calling the others and you’ll be lucky to get 1 right.

Saturday evening will surely see Theo stick one up Arsene as the Gunners pay tribute to one of their most prolific players of recent times in terms of goals and assists but whom of Wenger decided it was better to play the likes of Iwobi and Xhaka instead of. More fool him, as per usual these days.

And then onto Super Sunday…. Crystal Palace vs Newcastle. Hmmmm. Ok. The less said the better!

It should all liven up a bit later on though as Liverpool play host to Spurs.

Our game-week then concludes on Monday with Watford at home to Chelsea. Watford are on a horrible run of form and Chelsea have just been spanked at home by… Bournemouth. As you do. Second guess this one at your peril.

Bmac – check the hot comments, Mr. Bean has broken in down in a very clear way.

The comment isn’t extensive but covers the likely GW31 fixtures. Will provide an update after the replays in midweek if needed, though wouldn’t expect anything to change.

I’ve been mulling on this actualy this afternoon and I can tell you that this is all very clear and very muddy at the same time. We are going to have one more week (27) before FA cup’s 5th round is played. However, it looks odds on that Leicester, Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City, Spurs and one from WBA or Southampton are going through to the next round, which will be played in March on the weekend of gw31. If that happens we are left with a maximum of 4 games that can actualy be 3 if Brighton also goes through the facup 5th round. The conundrum is that all the games, bar Liverpool’s (vs Watford), involve bottom half of the table teams, meaning two things:
      1) you don’t want to buy too many from those teams ‘just’ to field XI on gw31
      2) As a consequence, you’ll be lured to play the FreeHit chip if you have it.
The problem then with option 2 is that FA cup’s next round (the semis) will coincide with the weekend of gw35, meaning that we go again in terms of many top teams likely to miss out on that gw. You’d probably want your FH for that one too, but the odds are better imo in terms of existing/canceled games for gw35. The draw for that round is key for us to anticipate how many big teams will or not have a game in 35.
I have all my chips intact and what I’ll do here is go with a wait and see approach, that is, proceed as normal in 27 and then check the FA cup situation before gw28. We need to see the draw for the next round (the one to be played in gw31) in order to assess gw35’s prospects. I hope some of it makes sense. Cheers

Brilliant mate. Lay it out in terms of actual fixtures then and we’re done. I’m sure B. Cretin already has but I’ve blocked him on twitter so no idea smile

        • DMC says:

          No idea who he is.

          You mean for 31?

For gw 31 the ones that are surely going to happen are:

          Stoke-Everton
          Liverpool-Watford

All the other may or not happen, but with very different odds:

Swansea-Southampton will be a game if
          1) Swansea lose 4th round replay vs Nots County (this next week)
          OR
          2) Swansea lose to Wednesday on the 5th round
          AND
          3) Southampton lose to WBA on the 5th round

B’Mouth-WBA will be a game if WBA lose to Southampton on the 5th round.

Huddersfield-Palace will be a game if:
          1) Huddersfield loses to Birmingham on FA Cup’s 4th round replay (this next week)
          OR
          2) Huddersfield lose to Utd on the 5th round.

If ‘2)’ happens then WestHam vs Utd is also on for 31.

          Spurs-Newcastle
          Burnley-Chelsea
          Leicester-Arsenal
          City-Brighton
          WestHam-Utd * (see above)

are very unlikely to happen so let’s just assume those won’t.

          That help?

      • Mr Bean says:

Something which I think adds to the appeal of saving the FH is how ‘poor’ the fixtures are for most of the big teams from GW 28 onwards, especially if you factor in the potential blanks, with Spurs excluded from that.

Liverpool, Everton, Bournemouth and West Brom all have decent fixtures from now so making early moves for GW31 shouldn’t affect your points too much.

Already own Salah, Firminio, Milivojevic and Quaner, and would be looking to Mane, Wilson, Ake, Dawson, Walcott to probably field 9 with no points hits, and a decent team to revert to in GW32 as well.
