Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 26
Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 26. And we are back already! We hope the midweek games treated you kindly but if not, don’t worry, we are straight into another GW so it can all be forgotten. And then probably all repeated again, just in case you forgot already!
We begin with Burnley hoping that their bus is big enough to contain Man City’s juggernaut. It won’t be.
We then have five 3pm games and all are much a muchness in terms of calling a winner with perhaps the exception of Man Utd hosting Huddersfield but try calling the others and you’ll be lucky to get 1 right.
Saturday evening will surely see Theo stick one up Arsene as the Gunners pay tribute to one of their most prolific players of recent times in terms of goals and assists but whom of Wenger decided it was better to play the likes of Iwobi and Xhaka instead of. More fool him, as per usual these days.
And then onto Super Sunday…. Crystal Palace vs Newcastle. Hmmmm. Ok. The less said the better!
It should all liven up a bit later on though as Liverpool play host to Spurs.
Our game-week then concludes on Monday with Watford at home to Chelsea. Watford are on a horrible run of form and Chelsea have just been spanked at home by… Bournemouth. As you do. Second guess this one at your peril.

Morning All,
Not an FPL discussion so feel free to remove if you want, but i just wanted to ask about yesterdays game & specifically the offside bit for the 1st pen.
Surely they have to make some kind of rule change on this, because what the ref decided was that technically Kane was onside because the ball came off Lovren. However, when the ball was played through Kane was offside. Surely his presence means Lovren has to try to clear the ball (which he failed to do) so therefore Kane must be interferring with play & thus be offside?
Does this mean that we could have a striker standing purposefully offside & midfielders trying to kick the ball at the last defender from close range to get a lucky bounce off them rendering the striker onside?
Bit confused by it all
Morning Hammers,
It would take great skill and lots of luck to successfully pull off a deliberate ‘pass’ off the defender to an offside team mate! But I take your point.
It’s a strange rule and I’ll be honest I only saw the highlights late last night. It’s offside for me all day long, but not according to the new rules.
Incidents like this always provoke much debate, particularly from the ‘victim’ club. I have to say I thought Liverpool were unlucky with the first pen but then it was saved so no harm done, fortunately for them. But not Kane owners!
Agree it was a good job he missed it as it did make it kind of irrelavent in the end.
Cant beleive that there is such an important rule in the game that no one actually knows how to impliment 100% correctly with no disputes.
the offside rule has always been contentious but it seems to be being made more confusing not less so……..
…other sports seem to be moving forward in many way, but not football.
Hi hammers
I have seen such vitriol towards the refereeing team on social media which i think is a bit harsh.
They’ve worked together which many people claim doesn’t happen often enough and yet when the assistant does get involved, that’s a fault too.
The law has been applied correctly on the offside one yesterday but whether the law is fair (and i don’t think it is) is the real debate here.
Agree GP, its not a fair rule sometimes & yes they did somehow actually get the decision right by working together so critism of the end result is not justified.
I think what needs to be looked into a bit more is the footage of the Ref & lino saying that they didnt know if Lovren touched the ball or not, but then giving the pen anyway despite not being 100% sure. So they basically guessed & fortunately got it right.
The asking of the 4th official if he saw anything on the TV should be questioned as, although i do agree that going forward they should be using video as help, on this occasion it is not allowed.
I was sure the referee confirmed in that conversation that Lovren touched it.
I wasn’t aware the fourth official was at all involved. Has anyone suggested that?
It was all on MOTD last night. They had the audio of the conversation. The Ref said he didnt know if Lovren touched it, then asked Martin ( the 4th official) if he saw anything on the TV. Then said Im giving the pen
Oliver bond tweeted this earlier
Very interesting.
Haven’t seen MOTD2 yet.
I remember recently the fourth official being involved via television replays. Can’t exactly remember what it was. Anyone?
Mark Clattenburg
(On the first penalty) “This should not have been a penalty because it was offside. At Anfield, because of the atmosphere, it can be difficult to hear each other on the headsets, which is why Moss went over to talk to his assistant Eddie Smart.
“The assistant had said that Harry Kane was in an offside position. The question then is whether Dejan Lovren deliberately played the ball and has Kane, by being in an offside position, impacted Lovren.
“The issue is not whether it touched the defender, but whether he played it deliberately. A professional footballer would not have played it into Kane’s path on purpose. From the way he was facing, if it had been deliberate, the ball would have gone up the field.
“You can make an argument that Lovren would not have made this type of attempt for the ball if Kane was not close to him and, therefore, the impact of his presence plays a part in the decision-making of the referee.
(On the second penalty) “This a tough decision. I believe that there is a suspicion of offside in the build up to the penalty !!!
The ball is touched by Fernando Llorente and into Érik Lamela, who is fractionally offside in my opinion. As we have seen with VAR now, offside is a matter of fact and no benefit is given to the attacking team.
“Therefore, the penalty should not have been allowed. Once the offside is missed, It looks as though Virgil van Dijk goes to kick the ball and then tries to pull away his leg, but there is a still a bit of contact. It is a soft penalty, but not definitely a wrong call.”
Think Clattenburg has summed things up very very well there.
yeah well summed up by clatts there…
Anyone know why Karius didn’t get a yellow card even though? Cuz if that is a penalty by the ref’s judgement, is it not a last man challenge? Definition of a red card? A bit inconsistent, but interesting he gave one but not the other…
I have decided to sacrifice myself for the greater good, from now on I will announce who I will be transferring out (most of the time with a hit) thus allowing you to transfer them in guaranteeing you at least 1 goal.
You are welcome!
……. finally!
Haha…
You can officially join team “Smash” now !!
Yep. I seem to have 2 defenders either injured or suspended or dropped. Currently Kenny and Makusaku. Thank god I captained Salah this GW that’s all I have to say
Guys I’m thinking about getting Robertson and Long in for Kenny and ogbanna for a hit. Any views?
Do you need to hit?
Robertson on his own sounds fair.
Hey GP, yeah I can’t afford him on his own. I could always get Simpson and naughton.
Without seeing the rest, i would just did the Robertson move. Probably for Kenny.
*do
Sorry misread that ‘can’t’ there
What’s the full situation? Team and money etc.
Sorry, 1ft and 0.1 itb.
Can you do Kenny to Naughton?
No bud, I’m 0.1 short.
Federico Fernandez then?
Cheers bud.
I agree with GP, no hit sounds better unless it’s necessary.
Cheers bud, unfortunately I can’t afford him on his own.
Id prefer double WH defense against Watford at home over a hit. A hit for defender rarely has a positive side.
True. Cheers bud.
Hold the FT and wait till the following GW when you will have 2 FT’s to do the move. There’s nothing else pressing in the rest of your squad that I can see
Mornin gang. I’ll leave my disappointment from lat night as a Patriots fan to the side for now…could be worse, could be a Gooner!
I know early in the week, but looking at a couple options for next gw after a red arrow. What do you lot think? 2 FT & 3.2 itb.
1- RLC & Mustafi > Mikhi & Smalling (0 left itb)
2- RLC > Milivojevic & Mustafi > MNU/LIV def (keeping cash for Kun > Kane)
Colriles
Maybe just tidy and carry.
i.e. RLC to Milivojevic and roll one.
Cheers GP.
So logged in to see the scores. Thank god I captained Salah that’s all I have to say.
Im 2pts above the avg and still managed to go down 10k in the OR.
Oh and did I mention I cpt Lingard ?
#facepalm
Particularly slow week I think Smash.
Watford v Chelsea

Goals goals goals galore
