Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 28
Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 28.
And then there were 8…
If you’re arriving here wondering what on earth the above title is about then you either haven’t been paying attention or you are in for a big shock; basically Arsenal, Aston Villa, Man City and Sheffield United aren’t with us this week due to the Milk Cup final on Sunday.
We do still have a relatively full GW which spans 3 days though and it begins on Friday evening with Leicester licking their lips at the prospect of facing a now notoriously leaky Norwich.
We have the usual Saturday structure beginning with a lunchtime KO between Brighton and Palace before Bournemouth welcome Chelsea, Burnley go to Newcastle and West Ham host the Saints, all at 3pm. Watford and Liverpool see us out in the late game.
Sunday has just the 2 games, both at 2pm due to the aforementioned, and now traditional, trouncing of insert any team name (Villa) by City at Wembley. For the record the games are Everton hosting Man United and Wolves visting Spurs.
The games in full…

How have Leicester looked tonight?
Soy, Maddi and Vardy owner
Shame they’re not in the league cup final, really.
But onwards.
Looks like the bubble has burst. I wonder if they’ll make the top 4
Oh definitely (burst). Should the league survive the virus then the race for the CL places should be fascinating.
Maybe they were a bit unlucky versus City – not that I saw the game – but there’s no excuse really for tonight. I’m not sure if I want to hang around for much longer (with their players). Having said that, the disadvantage this week of having so many away players is that next week I pretty much field a side of home players and of course on paper Leicester v Villa looks as good as – well, Leicester v Norwich. Cool-headedly keeping their players may be the best move but we have most of the GW plus the FA Cup to navigate first.
Rather bad
Glad I bought Harvey Barnes
While it’s nice when a new signing clicks immediately I try to suspend disbelief until 3 weeks has passed us by. I’ve no doubt Barnesey’ll be back to his best next GW (he sobs).
I’m not patient enough to wait three weeks before threatening the guillotiné!
You well mate?
Fine thanks, though anxiously fingering my neck.
I saw a real guillotine the other day (in a museum, I hasten to add) – it was much smaller than I imagined it would be. I read somewhere that initially crowds were disappointed at the speed and efficiency of that form of execution – they were used to messier, infinitely more fun breakages on the wheel type fare.
I guess, now I think about it, they don’t need to be large contraptions, unless the prisoner/victim has a massive head. of course.
It’s probably not a bad way to go, in terms of time.
Not bad at all and a real advance on being broken on the wheel.
I also read somewhere that prisoners who were reprieved at the last moment often slept the true sleep of the dead afterwards- an incredibly deep sleep.
As am I!
Imagine if it came out everyone on this site was in reality sat on death-row.
May explain the abrupt departures (and the amount of time people seem to have for this pastime).
Some of us have been sitting on death-row for quite a while …
Do they make a larger size for the Steve Bruce’s of the world?
I am not sure why people have been piling on Leicester players, Barnes, Maddi and Vardy all went up in price last night, I can only think people put them in after the GW deadline?
I dropped Barnes out today, their games coming up are turning against them after the next couple of GW’s.
Almost took a hit to bring in Barnes… Glad I didn’t… :big_boss:
Nor me, that one was for free. The other 2 were the hits
Given that your link is to a grim video of a gerbil being simultaneously poisoned and deafened (I didn’t stick around for the finale) it’s hard to gauge the veracity of your pronouncements.
As I said before the deadline, tough to say what to do these days… Nothing seems to go
Very early in the GW, Zed.
People may be whooping and high-fiving their good fortune with each other this time tomorrow.
It all feels a bit phoney-war to me at the moment. BGW and DGWs slowly starting to appear through the haze. The future yield of points and green arrows.
I was referring to the making transfers in general, and in getting or not getting Barnes in particular…
I’d never read anything from you Zed as a cry for help. More of a looser commentary, an on-going treatise even, on the essential meaninglessness of season 2019/20.
Or the meaninglessness of FPL for that matter, it’s just a silly game… Or, one might wonder, is it?
There’s a good early PKD novel where a character thinks he’s playing – and winning – a newspaper game called ‘where will the little green man be next?’ It turns out – well, that would be telling.
I often wonder sometimes.
We are at that time of the season when one looks at one’s FPL team points and declares that the work to date is careful planning for the future. Roll on next season, there is no hope left for this one.
There’s always the predictor league to look forward to Leprechaun :laugh2:
It’s not been the easiest of seasons, especially (personally speaking) compared to last year. However there are a lot of points still to be had, L. I was amused to see I had a green arrow this morning despite Leicester annoyingly losing a CS yesterday. All points count at this stage of the season.
Never worth obsessing over opponents’ teams but I bet if you checked how yours had prepared for this week your spirits would rise.
Agree on the “strange season” point. Nothing usual or ‘according to the book’ seem to be working this season.
At 41k you seem to be doing alright though Kralin so it can’t be all bad
It’s no 10k I know, but then again it could also be 400k’ish or worse :wink2:
Yes this has been a challenging season. I just checked my average GW score this season and last. Last season I averaged 65pts/GW, this season 56pts/GW. I’m giving up nearly 10pts every week.
Didn’t expect CS from Hanley
Fair play to anyone with him it’s been a long wait coming. His total points tally is quite staggering considering the amount of minutes he’s played
Perfect bench fodder and last night he seized the moment, true understudy style.
I have some faint optimism Traore will do the same for me.
Morning everyone, it’s my birthday today and I am 12, so I am going to go out and get drunk and do some dancing. Hope you all have a great day with green arrows galore! :yahoo:
I’d love to be getting drunk today
Happy birthday!
Thank you
Many happy returns Carolyn. What an absolutely wonderful date to have a birthday on.
And here’s hoping you push deep into the top 10k.
I’m hoping your nervelessly captaining TAA augurs a Liverpool CS and loads of assisted goals.
Thank you Kralin, the top 10k and a birthday in the same weekend would be wonderful!
Happy Birthday Carolyn. Enjoy your day and GW. :drinks:

Happy b-day! Hope you have a splendid day with a heap (leap?) of fun!

Tomorrow I will be 48 and lay in the recovery position :jumpy:

Oooh wasn’t being cynical… I like drinking with friends. Doesn’t matter if they don’t but it’s fun to share a drink. :drinks:
I’m sure something got lost in translation there Raz but that does make you sound like a serial killer  #rohypnol
Lol Init. If I’d be a serial killer I’d be like Dexter… :butcher:
Though… I think I might be eating chicken tonight. Saw one walking around in Everton gear. :butcher:
:big-lol:
Happy birthday Carolyn
Thank you
Happy Birthday Carolyn!!
I wish you all the best and many more successful seasons like this.
You are top in the FF1st Alumni league and I doubt anyone can catch you :locked:
Thank you Ivan, it has been a really good season for me this year! I have relied on gut feeling a lot.
Once again, well done, I think that is the best way to go with. I can’t wait this season to be over, it has been a disaster for me
Happy Birthday Carolyn!
Not sure about the legality of getting drunk as a 12 year old
On the non-leap years which day do you choose to celebrate?
Thank you, on the 28th, keeps it simple, last day of February.
Happy birthday, Carolyn :drinks:
So who has a gamewwek in 31 so far? Just trying to do a little planning
Burnley v Watford
Wolves v Bournemouth
Thank you
