Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 3

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 3. “It’s time to play the music, It’s time to light the lights…”. With game-weeks 1&2 done & dusted it’s time to sit down and hopefully enjoy GW3, our final game-week before the international break. Our game-week kicks off at lunchtime on Saturday as a pointless Bournemouth take on a City side who have yet to sparkle. This is followed by four 3pm kick-offs, all of which appear to be rather uninspiring. Saturday concludes with free scoring United hosting a Leicester City side who look somewhat rejuvenated this season.

At 1:30pm on Sunday Chelsea will look to build upon their win over Spurs as they face Spurs. At the same time West Brom host Stoke in what is likely to be an enthralling game!! 4pm sees Liverpool host Arsenal in a game that has a history of goals. Also at 4pm those that have sold and those have held onto Harry Kane will be biting their nails as he seeks to break his August duck as Burnley visit Wembley.

    Hi guys,
I know it’s early days as there’s now a two week break but I’ve already missed out from last night’s price changes and so am eager to get the ball rolling. After a disastrous start to the season with an overall rank of around 2 million, I’m hovering over the wildcard button. Need your advice though! Which team below do you prefer?

      Calvin Clyne says:

Swirly, I feel you sir. I am seconds away from just doing Kane to Firmino as I can’t stand the thought of it tormenting me for the next fortnight, and it would also make use of both’s impending price changes.

I do worry about the fact those teams are immediate-form-chasing, and as it’s based on such a short sample of 3 GWs, you may find yourself wanting another do-over soon, especially with Hazard and Sanchez to factor in.

Is the linked team yours? If not could you show me your current 11?

Hi CC, hope you’re keeping well! Forgotten to change the link in my name and I’m having trouble doing it on my phone, so here’s a link: https://fantasy.premierleague.com/a/entry/1269168/history – KDB is one of the players I most want to part ways with!

        • inittowinit says:

I can change it Swirly if you like. I did Cookie’s last night but forgot to tell him!

Cookie I changed your link last night smile

If you don’t mind mate, that’d be great! Cheers!

        • Calvin Clyne says:

All well on the western front thanks mate! In my opinion that team does not need a WC at all, though I understand you wanting to. A -8 is preferable to a WC, and I think one of those would more than see you through.

That said, if you are pretty sure you’ll want to use it during this break then you should activate it now and make use of the price rises as you said, and with that in mind it doesn’t really matter who you bring in initially, as long as they are all rising. Of your two proposed WCs, the first doesn’t warrant it in my opinion as most of the changes are in defence and your front line is left in tact. I do have to say I prefer it over team 2 anyway, and as I said I think it could largely be realised with a hit or two instead of a WC. Just my two cents.

        • theswirly says:

Cheers, mate – I think you’re right on holding fire on the wildcard. Too easy to get sucked into rash decisions so early in the season after such a poor start!

    inittowinit says:

When making a transfer(/s) do you do it with the week ahead in mind solely, a few weeks ahead in mind or a bit of both?

      Calvin Clyne says:

Init, I’ve become somewhat disillusioned with the whole fixtures thing (which surely is the only/main factor in whether or not a transfer is for the week ahead or longer?). Look at Burnley and Watford scoring 3 against Chelsea and Liverpool, and then failing to score against West Brom and Brighton respectively for example. Of course I have just used these as an immediate cherry-picked example, but I feel more and more there are many examples like this now. To make those examples applicable to your question, someone could have brought in Vokes on the back of his display against Chelsea with a few GWs ahead in mind, and he has produced nothing more yet.

You may point towards bigger teams having a favourable run like United do now as a reason to stock up on them, but Kane had 2 great fixtures so far and didn’t get any results… Again, cherry-picked but still valid in my opinion. I’d be interested to do a deep-dive on this and see how all the results correlate.

The only time I really would look specifically ahead for players now would be if they are defenders, as you obviously want them to have the relatively easier games coming up. Other than that, every transfer would in theory be fore a few upcoming GWs, assuming that they would perform well enough to stay in my team. If not then they’re getting the chop, regardless of what the initial plan was when bringing them in.

So I have 2FTs for next gameweek and it’s likely KDB will be leaving my team for Pogba! Do I make the transfer now and bank a little more than in a couple of weeks after any price changes or hold in case of any injuries?

    BennyB says:

59 this week for me, even with Lukaku as (C) sad 197 points in total so pretty happy with my start smile

Got 2FT for the int break, and want to get Bellerin out, any suggestions?

    KI says:

    Init,

Last technical question. I posted earlier, and assumed my proposed team would come up, as it is linked. I’ve obviously missed a step (or two). I’d appreciate any instructions.

      inittowinit says:

Hi Ki, we’ve had this conversation before haven’t we?! Your linked team leads to the one on the pic below, which I believe to be correct for yourself? That’s all the link does though – it takes you to the team, there’s no magic which allows it to pull through onto a RMT or anything.
