Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 4

After two bumper game-weeks, perhaps GW3 was merely a reality check. It matters not though as GW4 is upon us already, with fresh promise. It’s quite the condensed affair too, beginning on Saturday and ending on Sunday. Almost old school. Almost.

It begins with Leicester hosting Liverpool in the early game, giving many a Salah captainer a weekend long headache should he fail to produce. Five 3pm games follow in quick succession. Brighton will attempt to keep the Mitro show at bay. Bournemouth will hope to somehow halt Alonso’s inevitable march in to everybody’s fantasy team once again. Zaha will be looking to put one more nail in Hughes’ coffin. Wally will attempt to make amends for Richarlison’s stupidity. And Arnie will make a last ditch attempt to stop Pellegrini being fed to the Wolves.

The evening game should pique some interest as Man City play host to Ashley’s mercenaries. A classic case of an evening captain over an early one once again, in reverse? Perhaps!

Sunday sees us out with three away games for Arsenal, Man United and Spurs, going to Cardiff, Burnley and Watford respectively.

  1. What’s everyone planning ahead of the international break? Saving or activating the WC? I’m unsure whether to or not, having a play around this is one option against my original squad, do people think it’s worth it or could tweak with a transfer or two?

    • No need for a WC there. Your most pressing wants I’m guessing are Mane & Hazard, who are a straight swap for Salah & Bilva, and then tinker the rest into place.

      • Thanks Red. I’m finding it really difficult to give up on Salah but Mane is looking too good to miss out on. Would you see it as a necessity to get both in or one over the other?

        • I’m looking at doing them at the same time as I have 2FT, but Hazard in would be my priority move with 1 FT.

        • Sorry Red, I meant both as in Mane and Salah!

    • Not for me igy, a few tweaks over a few weeks and you’ve got what you ‘want’, right now. But of course that’ll alter anyway, and you may well want to be back at square one anyway come then. If it does indeed look remarkedly different at that point then perhaps then that’s the time to do it, in a few weeks.

    • Not worth it. Son returning will eventually put moura’s spot at risk. You can do Richarlison after he has missed his final match. I’d say hold on all of those, then you can do a double next week if needed

  2. Should I use my Wildcard? 2FT and 1.5 ITB.
    Patricio Foster
    Mendy Alonso Stephens Diop Wan
Mkhi B Silva Salah Pedro Cairny
    Augero Zaha Tosun

    • Cairney didn’t play this week. Billing at £4.5 looks like a better option

      • I have a few concers, not just Cairney, should I use my Wildcard?

        • Not enough concerns to warrant the WC for me. You have 2FT and money ITB – I can’t see more than a -4 being needed to give you a very strong team

        • Cheers, who do you think I should prioritise?

      • That depends who your priorities are to get rid off.

        • Unsure, Stephens hasn’t played the last 2 game. Tosun, Zaha and BSilva are all failong to convince me. Cairny is injured as well.

        • Cairney and Zaha are likely to be back after the IB I reckon, so B Silva, Stephens, Tosun in that order. Who do you have your eye on to bring in? Plenty of players are within reach financially for you.

        • Mitrovic Richarlison and Robertson are affordable, but would make a very template team.

        • It’s template for a reason…

I wouldn’t be buying Robertson now though with those fixtures ahead.

        • Any suggestions on alternatives?

        • You could think about Bellerin, assuming you have Alonso and Mendy.

If wildcarding I’d be looking in a Boly of Wolves direction as well.

        • Yeah have both Mendy and Alonso, looking at Bellerin or Trippier.

  3. What’s the thinking on Spurs defence LONG TERM, Trippier worth the investment perhaps?

    • Rotation always a concern, but with 22 points in two games he is definitely worth considering.

      • I’m tempted to make him my 5th Premium defender, so rotation wouldn’t be an issue.

        • Looks good mate!

        • It’s not the rotation that’s the issue if h doesn’t play, but when he comes on for the last few minutes for a point… That’s bad…

        • Epic defence. I bet you have some cheap midfielders…

        • Can’t have everything, I just did Mo>Hazard, the rest is unchanged.

  4. Hi folks ,

    0.5 ITB with 1FT.

    Anything I should do?

    • Strong team, I’d save the FT.

    • With those fixtures I’d hold. Looking forward, I’d go Salah/Luiz>Hazard/Alonso, then when fit I’d go HAZ>KDB and get the top striker of the moment, or keep HAZ/KDB and downgrade to whichever cheapo striker is flavor of the month.

  5. Morning! So has the Salah exodus begun? Think I regret bringing in Walcott for Richarlson.

    • I’m planning to assess the Walcott impact, if any, after their Arsenal game. I’m sure he’ll bounce back.

My mid has done me proud so far this week:

      Salah/Walcott/B Silva/Mkhi/bench

The only one who could change after the break is B Silva to D Silva. But I have Alonso to get in and King, probably, to move on.

    • I did rich to wally too. And I think that’s the right move 4 out of 5 times… This was the fifth time….

      • I was out yesterday afternoon and when I got back and saw what had happened, just chuckled grimly. It was one of those things. I have no doubt at all Moura will score today. I hope he does.

        • Pedro scored too smile It’s one of those things, you go for Wally for the security of starts, Pedro comes from the bench and scores… Rich still on my bench though, rather happy with that at the moment

        • Yeah I wish I just benched Richarlson. Thought he would have gone down more than he actually has. Kind of just want to transfer them back.

        • It’s always good to get instant gratification from a player – a brace from Walcott would have been nice yesterday – but you have to give them a run in the side. Play the long game. I’m not too crestfallen. You have to see the funny side of things.

        • “but you have to give them a run in the side. Play the long game. I’m not too crestfallen. You have to see the funny side of things”

Exactly the reason I kept Richarlison and didn’t buy Walcott 😉

        • Ha ha yep he will get another week and then probably go back to Richarlson. I have nothing really too pressing anyway depending on what problems the international break brings

  6. Morning all…how your teams doing? Just 40 points for me so far and just Miki left! Suffered the inevitable trolling from Wally, Obi-Wan replaces Zaha with 0 points and Bilva’s 1 pt cameo didn’t help much either sad

Not rushing into anything with the IB but always looking ahead and think my next moves are gonna be:

    Salah/Bilva > Mane/Hazard

    What do you all reckon?

    • Hi RedKev I’m considering the exact same transfers, which I can do so long as there are no price rises/falls. The risks of not having Salah have been discussed in detail on this site. However Salah and Bilva got me 3 this week and 8 last week whereas if I’d had Mané and Hazard they would have got me 21 this week and 11 last week.

      • Hi GentleBen! Yeah same here…if prices change I won’t be able to do it! Thing is at Bilva’s price there’s not a lot of strong options so if he’s benched a lot there’s no quick and easy fix! Mane/Haz are both nailed so feels a lot safer…thinking it’s better to have 2 strong players than 1 very strong + 1 weak …plus Mane seems to pick up bonus a lot more than Salah!
Have you watched much Liverpool….know who’s getting in the better positions/taking more shots etc?

        • RedKev I think at BSilva price Pedro is better however despite his scores I’m worried about his minutes played (25 this week, 68 last week) particularly when thinking about long term.

I’ve not seen much of the Liverpool games however I’m told by people who have that there are chances aplenty for all of Salah/Mane/Firmino and others in that team, and it is pure luck that the points have tended to migrate towards Mané.

    • 52 with Mkhi to play.
