Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 5
Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 5. We can but hope that this article doesn’t come as a surprise to you on a Friday evening and that you aren’t currently sat there thinking “either they’ve made a big mistake, or I’ve made an even bigger one!”. Well, we haven’t, and we are really sorry if you did!
The game-week begins with yet another uninspiring televised clash, as Bournemouth host Brighton on Friday night. Not one that many people will be hurriedly cancelling Friday night plans for then. If you do feel so compelled though you can always rearrange those plans for about 12:30pm on Saturday to coincide with the next woeful TV offering – Crystal palace vs Southampton. Seriously, we pay good money for this stuff. Add those to last week’s run of Burnley vs Palace / Swansea vs Newcastle / West Ham vs Huddersfield, and with the greatest of respect to the teams involved there can anyone ever recall a worse run of 5 televised games?!
Deep breaths.
Onto Saturday’s 3pm fare then, and we have five games, many of which will hold a fantasy football interest –
Huddersfield will hope to improve on their poor showing on Monday night as they host Leicester.
Liverpool, sans Mane, have a potentially plum home game with a Burnley team who traditionally don’t travel that well.
Newcastle and Stoke may hold more interest in the handshake shenanigans than any on the field activities.
Watford, having had a strong start, will look to test a potentially vulnerable Man City back line in what may be a very entertaining fixture, perhaps not so much if you own defenders from either side.
West Brom and West Ham may have the antidote to the above though, just in case you get over excited.
Saturday evening returns us to the television and at least this time there is some semi entertainment as Spurs will be looking for a first PL win at Wembley against an ailing Swansea
Sunday does finally bring some strong games back to the big screen. Arsenal host Chelsea in the early one and then Man United play Everton in the late one to bring our game-week to a close.

Would anybody care to talk me out of hitting the WC option?
Love it
Current team.
Where do Hazard and Sanchez come into the equation?
I’m comfortable with Morata as my Chelsea cover. And Arsenal are rubbish!
As nice as the WC team is, isn’t it a bit rash to be playing it now?!
Is it me but I find them both really expensive. Sanchez would be ok if he was playing up top like he was last season but this season he will be off the front.
This WC team leaves me 0.0 ITB, so if I’m gonna do it I have to do it tonight.
Is there anyone sensible out there to tell me what to do?!!
I don’t mind your current team. Just need a downgrade somewhere to upgrade Hernandez
Yea before I starting thinking about WC’ing I was looking at Richarlison & Chica to Gross & Rooney/Welbeck. What d’ya reckon?
Quite liked what I saw of Gross last night. Not sure on Welbeck/Rooney. Rooney might be worth a punt because of fixtures but not form and Welbeck not sure if he gets in Arsensls starting 11
Yep, totally get your concerns there. It seems like there’s not much value in budget strikers this year, yet there are a few options in midfield. Which turns me back towards the WC team?!!!!
Doesn’t justify a WC to me that.
That is certainly the sensible standpoint. I’m just very scared not owning any of Kane, Lukaku & Kun. Is there not an arguement for fixing that early on in the season, knowing that I’ll get another WC in January?! I won’t be able to afford that team after tonight.
Looks. Like you’ve done it regardless!
The temptation was just far too much! I think I got lucky this week to be honest. I wouldn’t have been able to rely on big hitters blanking all the time. I’ve gone for a big 3 up top, as there seems to be more value in budget mids over strikers this year. And I’ll just be hoping I don’t get ravaged by injury before January!
Hey Mitro, hows this for a -4 ? Alonso/Luk/Chico out, Lascelles/ Kun/Jesus in.
It certainly looks nice in light of today’s result! Personally, I’d rather spread the love a little. Perhaps Morata in there for Jesus?
Guys thinking of willian and firminho to obiang and kun. Any other ideas. Should I do it tonight before he goes up in price?
I forgot to include this.
Cash ? I’m not a fan of those moves to be honest. What returns is Obiang going to get you realistically ? What about Willian to Gross or Ritchie and Morata to Aguero if you really want him ? Though I wouldn’t be doing anything till the midweek games are out of the way !
Is Obiang bench fodder or being rotated? I wouldn’t be a fan of playing him every week.
Would you mind sparing 2 moment to look at my WC dilemma above (comment 79). If I don’t hit it tonight I can’t afford that team!
Ah that helps! Similar to my potential WC team! I think your moves could work in the short term, and then maybe consider downgrading Alonso to turn Obiang/Carroll into Gross or similar?
Hey Banjo, that wildcats team looks very strong. I’d be very tempted to be honest. You seem to have every angle covered there. I could rotate obiang with Carroll on my team.
Well you’d certainly have a tasty strike force! And the defense stays good. And you’ve got good balance throughout. The only concern is a fairly weak rotating pair, but you could easily make those points up with Kun!!!!
With my team, I don’t really dislike it, and it’s certainly not in need of urgent repair, but I hate not owning any of Kun, Lukaku & Kane. If I hit it tonight, before price rises, I can secure a very solid team… I think I’m talking myself in to it!!!!
Go with your gut. I think I’ll do the same.
init, if you’re around – we are pitted against each other this week in the banterbury league.
i need 3 points off mkhitaryan and alonso to win.
still fancy a comeback?
Can’t say I’ve looked but if that’s all you need then congrats on your win!
Have 2 FT, Stephens has to go but who are you all bringing in. Yoshida / Laccelles perhaps? I know Kane blanked today but I can’t see that happening all that often – I could see the Kun train growing.
Stephens to Jones?
I didn’t consider him actually Banjo. Lacacelles on great form and cheap as chips was my thinking.
Surely he won’t keep scoring though. I’d much rather united defensive cover myself.
Went with Jones, thanks Banjo!
Aguero n Jones in for Lukaku and Stephens. Should have asked opinions first
No need. Good moves.
I’ve hit the WC button. Here’s where I’m at…
Looks good Banjo.
A few minor ones to consider are Davies and Otamendi. Is Stones a better threat?
Davies place should be fairly safe shouldn’t it? Well as safe as a Poch fullback can be. Hopefully he learns a lesson about resting them today! I actually thought Otamendi posed more of an attacking threat? He goes up for a lot of set pieces. And he picks up bonus points.
