Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 5
Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 5. We can but hope that this article doesn’t come as a surprise to you on a Friday evening and that you aren’t currently sat there thinking “either they’ve made a big mistake, or I’ve made an even bigger one!”. Well, we haven’t, and we are really sorry if you did!
The game-week begins with yet another uninspiring televised clash, as Bournemouth host Brighton on Friday night. Not one that many people will be hurriedly cancelling Friday night plans for then. If you do feel so compelled though you can always rearrange those plans for about 12:30pm on Saturday to coincide with the next woeful TV offering – Crystal palace vs Southampton. Seriously, we pay good money for this stuff. Add those to last week’s run of Burnley vs Palace / Swansea vs Newcastle / West Ham vs Huddersfield, and with the greatest of respect to the teams involved there can anyone ever recall a worse run of 5 televised games?!
Deep breaths.
Onto Saturday’s 3pm fare then, and we have five games, many of which will hold a fantasy football interest –
Huddersfield will hope to improve on their poor showing on Monday night as they host Leicester.
Liverpool, sans Mane, have a potentially plum home game with a Burnley team who traditionally don’t travel that well.
Newcastle and Stoke may hold more interest in the handshake shenanigans than any on the field activities.
Watford, having had a strong start, will look to test a potentially vulnerable Man City back line in what may be a very entertaining fixture, perhaps not so much if you own defenders from either side.
West Brom and West Ham may have the antidote to the above though, just in case you get over excited.
Saturday evening returns us to the television and at least this time there is some semi entertainment as Spurs will be looking for a first PL win at Wembley against an ailing Swansea
Sunday does finally bring some strong games back to the big screen. Arsenal host Chelsea in the early one and then Man United play Everton in the late one to bring our game-week to a close.

On a WC and have a few basic questions…
1) Fabianski best 4.5 option in the sticks?
2) Mbemba best defensive option at 4.0?
3) Cork best midfield option at 4.5?
4) Slightly harder one… should I try and crowbar Kolosinac into the team? Probably in place of Otamendi? If so, where do I find 0.5? Ritchie to Atsu? Simpson to another 4.0 defender?
1) Possibly. However Naughton and Fernandez are 4.5 for Swansea defensive coverage.
2) both Mbemba and Rosenior are covering for injuries. So don’t think you can rely on them
3) I prefer RLC was their best player yesterday and Carrol
4) that’s hard. Possibly having Elliot as your only keeper would be way of doing that. All a bit risky as your losing a possible starting player with those options
Cheers Smash…
1) I guess I could swap Simpson for Naughton or Fernandez, but then I need to find an alternative 4.5 keeper. I think Simpson for 4.5 is a decent price.
2) I didn’t realize Mbemba was only covering an injury. Can’t see any other options at 4.0, so will probably stick with him.
3) Good point. RLC did look decent yesterday, and you’d think he’d keep his spot in the team. I’ll probably make that move.
4) Not a fan of Elliott being my only playing keeper. I think Ritchie to Atsu is the only way to keep a playing squad, but not sure whether the toon downgrade is outweighed by Otamendi to Kolosinac?
Yeah both Simpson and Naughton seem good value in that price range. Fabianski is a good keeper. Ritchie to Atsu I think is a big downgrade
Yea Ritchie to Atsu doesn’t quite sit right. I can see Ritchie chipping in with some goals soon too. I just can’t see anywhere else to squeeze 0.5. Maybe I’ll just leave it as is and forget about Kolosinac.
Yeah I’m struggling to find a way to gain the 0.5 needed. I think you might have the right front 3
Any news on Vardy ???
Regarding what Silvers?
Cookie Though he picked up an injury ?
Oh did he? Didn’t see that, though I did fall asleep in MOTD
This is my experimental team I only allowed to change with drunk 😉
Are you drink now 😉
There’s a lesson to be learnt there though!
No but my head is throbbing 😉
I know the gameweek isn’t over and I don’t normally make an early move but wondering whether I need to here! I had Davies and Stephens not playing this week so really think my defence needs looking at, any suggestions? 1FT and 0.3itb.
davies was being rested, so no worries there (i dont think!)
and stephens–> cedric is the obvious move, unless you want jones (5.1) but you have DDG…or lacelles (4.5) but you already have elliot….ohh swansea defence maybe? theres naughton and someone else both at 4.5
personally i just switched to cedric.
Thoughts on this? Panic hit my WC, oh well.
0.2 short, aiming to build some TV over the week, so should be alright… will probably put in eriksen until hazard convinces me
and ofc i put the wrong screenshot up, defence is davis–>tripper, and hezagi–> 4.7/5 depending on how much TV I can gain
Ok lads can we have some thoughts on Kun v Jesus who why wheather its cash or points return ?
At the minute I have Jesus but am wondering if it is worth the upgrade to Kun. From what I have seen this season Kun is an experienced player on good form, whereas Jesus is a player still learning his trade in the Premiership and on good form. I think Kun will score more points overall, but there won’t be a huge margin in it.
On balance, if I was wildcarding (which isn’t ruled out yet this week!) I would bring in Kun, but if no wildcard I’ll stick with Jesus as have other priorities for transfers that a sideways move. It all depends on what your own team’s current situation is for me.
Cheers Constantine & Red just used my WC & took Kun out stupid really 😉
I’m on a wildcard this week and I initially put Jesus in my team, however after a bit of tweaking I’ve managed Aguero and it felt better! I think it may be the case of you getting what you pay for here.
hi Silvers,
very good question. i currently own Jesus and was very painful to see the outcome of the City game yesterday with Kun switching on the God mode.
However I’m reluctant to swap them as Pep can easily ruin everything by benching/withdranwning one of them. Moreover for this swap I would need to take a hit which is not worth it imo.
So I wait one more GW to assess. Or an other option can be to have them both for the Palace game.. it can be interesting.
Silvers
Would you sleep better at night knowing that Kun was in your team?
I have Jesus and I am defo keeping him, alwaya have had Aguero and is my fav FPL player but not worth a sideways move, but if on WC go for Aguero
Cheers all I thk overall Kun will outscore Jesus but won’t be to far away at end of season but both players going to get rested when I look at it another way it gave me 1m to invest elsewhere & enabled me to get the Viking so let’s just hope Jesus can turn it on nk GW 😉
im gonna take aguero until he gets injured, then switch to jesus
