Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 5

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 5. We can but hope that this article doesn’t come as a surprise to you on a Friday evening and that you aren’t currently sat there thinking “either they’ve made a big mistake, or I’ve made an even bigger one!”. Well, we haven’t, and we are really sorry if you did!

The game-week begins with yet another uninspiring televised clash, as Bournemouth host Brighton on Friday night. Not one that many people will be hurriedly cancelling Friday night plans for then. If you do feel so compelled though you can always rearrange those plans for about 12:30pm on Saturday to coincide with the next woeful TV offering – Crystal palace vs Southampton. Seriously, we pay good money for this stuff. Add those to last week’s run of Burnley vs Palace / Swansea vs Newcastle / West Ham vs Huddersfield, and with the greatest of respect to the teams involved there can anyone ever recall a worse run of 5 televised games?!

Deep breaths.

Onto Saturday’s 3pm fare then, and we have five games, many of which will hold a fantasy football interest –

Huddersfield will hope to improve on their poor showing on Monday night as they host Leicester.

Liverpool, sans Mane, have a potentially plum home game with a Burnley team who traditionally don’t travel that well.

Newcastle and Stoke may hold more interest in the handshake shenanigans than any on the field activities.

Watford, having had a strong start, will look to test a potentially vulnerable Man City back line in what may be a very entertaining fixture, perhaps not so much if you own defenders from either side.

West Brom and West Ham may have the antidote to the above though, just in case you get over excited.

Saturday evening returns us to the television and at least this time there is some semi entertainment as Spurs will be looking for a first PL win at Wembley against an ailing Swansea

Sunday does finally bring some strong games back to the big screen. Arsenal host Chelsea in the early one and then Man United play Everton in the late one to bring our game-week to a close.

I punched myself in the throat when I forgot to transfer Pogba out for Sigurdsson before the deadline. I didn’t feel too bad when I ended this round with 47 points and figuring Siggy’s 2 points weren’t going to be much help in my H2H match.

Then I saw my opponent also ended the round with 47 points.

So I punched myself in the face this time.

Bit disappointed with my Firminho captain pick. Can’t believe they only scored once from 30+ shots. Still escaped with a pretty decent score anyway. How did everyone else get on?

73 for me. Right i have 5.0 mill for a defender, who ? He will go with Davies, Suttner, Cedric and Rangel.

Any suggestions who to get in place of Sane? I thought he’d play this week after his 2 goal cameo last time out. Had enough of him now. 0.0ITB

    evening lads,

had an OK GW despite not having Kun. now i’m thinking to save a transfer.. what do you think?
i would swap Mahrez for Silva or Miki but both are under rotation risk. Abraham is an other issue but with no money in the bank my hands are tied..
    thanks for your thoughts

    Evening all,

Managed to scrape 75 this week sinks to big rom. Now I’m stupidly doing point chasing to try to get kun in!

Which of these 2 do you think is best?

    Cheers

Should add that on the 2nd one I don’t have to take a hit to bring otemendi in too. I can do that in the next week if I wanted to

      SAFs_hairdryer says:

Tough call. Probably the second but I’d be wary of having no Spurs attack in there. And why get Otamendi instead of using that cash more in midfield?

      • hammers says:

Can’t really see any more value in midfield tbh. If I stick witn a 4.5 defender instead of otemendi I can get a 7.2 mid instead of Richie but can’t see one I like. Any suggestions?

Only put him in as I was just thinking of getting a premium defender in to play 4 at the back

        • inittowinit says:

Agree on the defender thing hammers. No point splashing it on a punty mid who may get a goal or assist every 10 games when you can go more solid with a defender likely to get a CS every other game or so. Plus any add ons.

        • hammers says:

          Cheers init,

So do you think team 2 and go 4 at the back then?

Could have either mustafi or Montreal instead of otemendi. Just picked him coz they have palace up next.

        • inittowinit says:

Just looking at it more closely now. It means losing Alli this ‘plan 2’ doesn’t it? I’m not sure I like that in relation to plan 1 if it simply means that defensive upgrade. Not to to contradict what I said earlier! It’s just that I looked at 2 in terms of you saying that you it wasn’t mutually inclusive and the hit could be saved. Hence, if it was to be 2 I was thinking the hit wasn’t necessary this week looking at your other defenders. And wasn’t sure if the move was even required beyond that. Without complicating it further I think I’d prefer to keep Alli and go for plan 1.

        • hammers says:

Yes it does mean losing Ali. So you prefer 3 big mids and 2 cheapos along with the weaker defence then?

The way I was looking at it was that I wasn’t keen on the double pool cover, and still wanted to retain some Chelsea so option 2 would let me keep morata. Couldn’t see any reason to sell him tbh

        • Brookyboy says:

But then have to play Cork or Carrol every week ! Who are you taking out for Cork and Aguero ?

        • Brookyboy says:

Ahhh forget that,Brady and Morata. Can you do Mikki to Ritchie Morata to Aguero ?

        • hammers says:

Yes Brooky option 1 would mean playing either cork or Carroll every week with the weaker defence, hence why I think I’m less keen on that idea.

Not sure I’d want to ditch miki tbh. Would rather lose Ali than him as in option 2
