Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 5
Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 5. We can but hope that this article doesn’t come as a surprise to you on a Friday evening and that you aren’t currently sat there thinking “either they’ve made a big mistake, or I’ve made an even bigger one!”. Well, we haven’t, and we are really sorry if you did!
The game-week begins with yet another uninspiring televised clash, as Bournemouth host Brighton on Friday night. Not one that many people will be hurriedly cancelling Friday night plans for then. If you do feel so compelled though you can always rearrange those plans for about 12:30pm on Saturday to coincide with the next woeful TV offering – Crystal palace vs Southampton. Seriously, we pay good money for this stuff. Add those to last week’s run of Burnley vs Palace / Swansea vs Newcastle / West Ham vs Huddersfield, and with the greatest of respect to the teams involved there can anyone ever recall a worse run of 5 televised games?!
Deep breaths.
Onto Saturday’s 3pm fare then, and we have five games, many of which will hold a fantasy football interest –
Huddersfield will hope to improve on their poor showing on Monday night as they host Leicester.
Liverpool, sans Mane, have a potentially plum home game with a Burnley team who traditionally don’t travel that well.
Newcastle and Stoke may hold more interest in the handshake shenanigans than any on the field activities.
Watford, having had a strong start, will look to test a potentially vulnerable Man City back line in what may be a very entertaining fixture, perhaps not so much if you own defenders from either side.
West Brom and West Ham may have the antidote to the above though, just in case you get over excited.
Saturday evening returns us to the television and at least this time there is some semi entertainment as Spurs will be looking for a first PL win at Wembley against an ailing Swansea
Sunday does finally bring some strong games back to the big screen. Arsenal host Chelsea in the early one and then Man United play Everton in the late one to bring our game-week to a close.
THE GAMES IN FULL –

Evening. Just woken up – what have I missed?
Just go back to sleep!
Cool, night then
I’ve known tortoise who spend more hours awake per day! You’re in your 40’s not your 70’s mate
I just have a nap either side of dinner – you should try it. In a few years
Morning, everybody well ?
Yes thanks Ellie. How are you? Off to the game later?
Morning Cookie how you doing mate looking fwd to the matches today. 😉
Morning Silvers pal, yes very much so – taking the boy to Monaco vs Strasbourg later.
Sounds good Gookie enjoy your day with your boy , hope Spurs do the business today 😉
Cheers Chief, yeah let’s hope Kane goes ballistic, helped by Erik and Davies of course!
What are you up to mate?
Going round daughters later try &!fix her door then in town to watch the footy have a good one mate 😉
Want to come down and fix my shutters?!
I’m off to the zoo with the little fella this morning. The Mrs & daughter are going away until tomorrow so will be able to follow the football
May do similar this morning Kop, though I hope your zoo is bigger than ours!
It’s a pretty decent zoo. They’ve improved it drastically over the years.
Hey Kop
I’m off to the sealife centre in brum, actually quite excited probably more than the little ones!
The main reason I’m going is to burn some energy off the little fella
I was but the Mrs is ill so i’ve got the little fella.
Morning Elle missed you there , you going to the game today 😉
Red arrows again! Down to 1.9m (lowest ever rank) apart from that im great FFS!!
Oh Mitro, we’re one game in and that game was between two of the most ineffectual FPL teams ever! Relax man!
I’m hoping I have a good GW or I will have a meltdown
1.9m? Pfft!
I was about 2.3 at GW6/7 last season and finished around 15k!
Chin up Mitro
Too early to look at overall rank. Luck plays a big part at the beginning it’s a long slog
Haha it’s bad when you get a red and you’ve had no players yet! I’m the same mate! I’m sure by tomorrow we’ll be happy bunnies!
Morning gentlemen.
7 points from a Friday night isn’t bad at all.
Nice start.
Morning GP,
Nice start mate (don’t tell Mitro!) – good to see you GroBBing those points
Morning GP that’s a solid start. 3 points from 2 players so far for me so not so good. Hopefully my big hitters make up for it
I’m on -4 so I suspect I’m on another red arrow.
Me and you in the H2H this week GP. I need Kane, Lukaku & Firmino to blank… asking a bit much?! 😉
*lights cigar*
2/3rds of the way there Banjo.
0 Points ( no players in that game) and still a green arrow
Morning all!
Is this a stupid squad overhaul?
I have a strong squad at the moment, but the more I look at it the more I want to fit in the likes of Kane, Davies, Jesus and Mendy… they’re just all so attacking! It will come at the cost of losing Lukaku and Eriksen though…
What do you think – stick or twist?
You have a strong squad. Yeah they are all good players but you have good players yourself
I think it’s a case of…
– do I think Kane and Jesus will outscore Lukaku and Firmino? probably.
– Will Salah match Eriksen for points? perhaps not.
– Would I rather have Davies than Tripper? YES!
– would gaining Mendy make up for losing De Bruyne? Maybe.
I think the only thing holding me back is the fear of losing Lukaku.
Would love to hear others’ thoughts on this?
Would love to hear others’ thoughts on this..!
Absolutely no need to wildcard that team Ian and I definitely wouldn’t be losing Eriksen.
Absolutely this ^^ Ian.
I’m crying because I don’t have Eriksen.
Morning guys! Hope you’re all well! It feels like a wonderful day for football! I’m off to the match later and I’ll be trying to resist the urge to check my FPL team at half time!
If anyone has any of our lot I hope they deliver, if anyone has a stoke player I’m hoping they don’t!
Go El Choupo!
I’ll be keeping a close eye on him, I’ll feedback tonight! Hope he does nothing or at least less than us!!
I’ll happily accept an El Choupo hatty and a Toon win!
Put Ritchie in this week so a goal from him please !!
