Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 5

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 5. We can but hope that this article doesn’t come as a surprise to you on a Friday evening and that you aren’t currently sat there thinking “either they’ve made a big mistake, or I’ve made an even bigger one!”. Well, we haven’t, and we are really sorry if you did!

The game-week begins with yet another uninspiring televised clash, as Bournemouth host Brighton on Friday night. Not one that many people will be hurriedly cancelling Friday night plans for then. If you do feel so compelled though you can always rearrange those plans for about 12:30pm on Saturday to coincide with the next woeful TV offering – Crystal palace vs Southampton. Seriously, we pay good money for this stuff. Add those to last week’s run of Burnley vs Palace / Swansea vs Newcastle / West Ham vs Huddersfield, and with the greatest of respect to the teams involved there can anyone ever recall a worse run of 5 televised games?!

Deep breaths.

Onto Saturday’s 3pm fare then, and we have five games, many of which will hold a fantasy football interest –

Huddersfield will hope to improve on their poor showing on Monday night as they host Leicester.

Liverpool, sans Mane, have a potentially plum home game with a Burnley team who traditionally don’t travel that well.

Newcastle and Stoke may hold more interest in the handshake shenanigans than any on the field activities.

Watford, having had a strong start, will look to test a potentially vulnerable Man City back line in what may be a very entertaining fixture, perhaps not so much if you own defenders from either side.

West Brom and West Ham may have the antidote to the above though, just in case you get over excited.

Saturday evening returns us to the television and at least this time there is some semi entertainment as Spurs will be looking for a first PL win at Wembley against an ailing Swansea

Sunday does finally bring some strong games back to the big screen. Arsenal host Chelsea in the early one and then Man United play Everton in the late one to bring our game-week to a close.

THE GAMES IN FULL –

Good luck to absolutely everyone for GW5 from all at FF247!

  1. So this GroB lad looks like a decent economical midfielder. Which midfielder should I sell to get him?

    RLC or Carroll?

    Tough decision. :hippo:

    • B

Check if RLC features (and where) today.

Groß was tipped by me in preseason. I also benched him last week so current relationship status:

      ‘It’s complicated’

Played him last night at least.

    • He has looked good. Everything decent Brighton do going forward involves him. He might be injured though as hobbled off and Brighton won’t score many goals. See how RLC gets on today I think

    • RLC is probably the better and more attack minded player but he’s now being managed by Woy ‘useless’ Hodgson!

  2. Southampton XI: Forster; Cédric Soares, Yoshida, Hoedt, Bertrand; Oriol Romeu, Lemina; Tadic, Davis(C), Redmond; Long. #CRYSOU

Crystal Palace XI: Hennessey; Ward, Fosu-Mensah, Dann, Schlupp; McArthur, Cabaye, Puncheon(C); Townsend, Benteke, Loftus-Cheek. #CRYSOU

    • No Stephens or Gabbi for Saints Rlc starts for Palace !

    • Time for me to sell Stephens

      • Hoped I’d get this week out of him,but he is deffo gone next week !

        • I was the same Brooky. Didn’t want to sell him ahead of Palace!
          Hopefully Saints concede smile

      • Kop

        Me too likely.

You sticking with Saints if they keep a clean sheet today? One look at their fixtures from GW7 to GW11 makes me want to back them (providing they don’t completely collapse in the next two).

        • GP,

My current plan is to WC around GW7/8 so I’ll probably just play the fixtures until then.

    • Wow good thing I sold Stephens for Davies yesterday for the same reason.

  3. Stephens to Jones is the next transfer. I know Uniteds schedule isn’t the best, but Jones and MU have a solid defense. Or should have. Hehe.

    • Think Ill prefer Arsenal/City defender to Jones for the coming GWs as a new buyer. As a holder, Ill probably have to just hold and wait.

    • Everton’s fixtures look a lot better now maybe Williams

      • Not having watched them play!

        • Burnley, Bournemouth and Brighton though

        • Do you play the form or fixtures?!

        • I am more guilty at looking at fixtures. However Everton have had a really tough start and do you believe Everton won’t beat those teams.

        • I know they’ve had a poor start but they’ve been very disappointing. There’s no pace in the team so they will struggle to break other teams down and this in turn will create pressure on their own defence.

        • I’m kind of seeing it like they don’t have a striker so will need to be solid at the back because they won’t score many goals.

        • I’ll want to see evidence first. Their defending against Atalanta was shambolic.

      • Its a shame I got no space in defence with Alonso, Jones and Davies standing tall. Next 3 GWs are very solid for Everton.

  4. Transferred out both Stephens and Gabbi, and played RLC.

    Great things about to happen!

    • Improvement before they have even played then there

      • Yeah. Cant believe I was about to give Gabbi a go against Palace this GW, until some joker on this forum told me to ship him out for a budget striker.

That has worked until now I guess.

  5. Stephens price likely to drop tonight….thinking Keane or Cedric atm. Everton’s fixtures start to look favourable from next week. Can afford up to 5.7m.

    Current back 5:

Davies Jones Mee Stephens and Mbemba

Probably over the next two weeks transfer in Cedric for Stephens (tonight) and upgrade Simpson from Mbemba.

    Any other suggestions?

    • Monreal could be a good option.

      • Seen that he had a price drop….just don’t trust Arsenal at all!

Thinking Maguire possibly as another option

    • Stephens isn’t due a drop for at least 2 days so no need then jump into anything today!

      • Plus there’s a lot of midweek football

        • I read the fplstatistics cite wrong. My bad! Be interesting to see where RLC plays today

      • Stephens was due to drop last night on FPL statsistics and didnt.
Suttner has been due to drop every night since Wednesday and still hasnt dropped.
Who do people think is the best price drop site this season?

        • I use Fix, but I’ve never used anything else so can’t compare!

  6. RLC looking really good. Almost scored twice in the last 5 minutes. B, I’m looking in your direction smile

    • Fingers are crossed mate. Played him for 3 points. Now I want more! B)

    • He’s on my bench. I played Suttner and Francis above him so not sure what to think
