PRE-SEASON HUB 2020/21

Introduction

Gone are the days of Premier League teams jetting off to China, Malaysia, Thailand and Australia for their pre-season preparations – at least for this pre-season. Here’s hoping things in the world are again on the right side of normal this time next season and I for one will never again take the Premier League Asia Trophy for granted.

In this shortened period between the 2019-20 season ending and the 2020-21 season beginning (consider that Manchester United & Manchester City players will not even be through passport control with their families as they head on holiday whilst Everton, Liverpool and Tottenham commence a stretch of their legs with their first pre-season matches), I will again document the ins and outs and ups and downs of all 20 Premier League teams pre-season on this article as we hurtle towards the new season.

Below is a guide to the matches CONFIRMED so far – there will be more. For instance, as you’ll see, there are clubs who have not yet announced any matches. Seeing as all games will be behind closed doors anyway, I would expect the clubs to be transparent about their matches, not least to let their own supporters know what’s going on and I’ll be there to take advantage.

As is the norm – if you feel comfortable in doing so – please record any and all pre-season news here under the relevant team comment. I’ll round up each day with anything missed relating to line-ups, goals, assists, injuries, playing positions etc.

You’ll find a comment relating to each of the 20 teams below.

I thought I would through a few players into the mix. Ings fixtures look decent enough for some time, not seen him in many teams? Alli saves some cash over Son and easier to fit in and keep at the price? Just 2 big hitters in this one, which could swap to Fernandes & KDB.

      Smash says:

I’ve got a lot of them. I’m not even sure where Alli fits into that Spurs team. He’s not really been good for some time. Ings has a great season last year just 8.5 for a Saints striker is too rich for me. I just can’t bring myself to pay that when I can get United’s number 9 for just O.5 more for example or Jimenez for the same price

      • Stone Frog says:

I guess thats part of the point. With Werner, Ings, Jimenez and Martial all a similar price, you may expect at least 2/4 to perform reasonably well, so have 2 at this price point could be worth it. Jimenez first 2 don’t look great and Martial doesn’t play GW1, so Ings and Werner to start.

        • Smash says:

Yeah kind of makes sense. I think there are more options in midfield so one at that price point is fine Kane and Aguero/Jesus are not far from that either

      • Stone Frog says:

Yep Kun is tempting. He’s usually eased in for the first couple of games, maybe a 30minute and 60minute and then usually explodes with a hatty early in the season.

      Stone Frog says:

I,m not sure on Mitrovic to be honest with the fixtures, but with 14m for a striker and mid I couldn’t come up with a better combo than Alli and Mitrivuc unless I go for 4 at the back and a facilitator.

      • Smash says:

Yeah can’t expect too much. Think he should do ok if Fulham score it will be him. He was top scorer in Championship last year, he’s on pens, fixtures are decent enough but it is Fulham at the end of the day

Christ did not realise ASM and Armstrong were this low.

Expected goal involvement (xGI) for mids 6.5m or below after project restart from the Premier League

    Foden – 4.05 (537 mins)
    JWP – 3.95 (810)
    Bowen – 3.78 (736)
    Traore – 3.21 (534)
    Soucek – 2.94 (810)
    Trossard – 2.85 (570)

    Armstrong – 1.80 (575)
    ASM – 1.74 (599)

I’m completely messed up time wise. Back in the UK after six months quarantine stint on a rig. Have I missed much 😉

Poor season last year, only just made top 500k. Anyway feel free to RMT

Oh wow yeah bet you are glad to be back. As for the team I think you need to downgrade Schmeichel to upgrade Stephens in midfield as you don’t want to be playing him ever

Here is my latest effort and a gw1 team. Whats your thoughts guys? I was wondering what to do people think on Kieta game time. He has suffered with some injury problems but when he plays he has been showing some great form and could represent an excellent 5.5 mid.
The dilemma will then be trying to get in Bruno and KDB after GW1

    Silvers says:

Really starting to think three expensive def might be worth looking at say two Pool & Doherty at 7.5m or less really good value if they can get 160 – 180 points over the season Means only having two premium MF players going to have a look anyone else thought about it
