Fantasy football Trends From The Top – GW36
Welcome to this week’s edition of Trends From the Top. Gameweeks 34 and 35 were certainly game changers for our leaders and for those who follow this article week after week, you’ll know that many of the leaders (prior to GW 33) held top spots for many, many weeks.
For the first time this season, the game has significantly changed.
This week the only player to have a spot in the top ten for more than 2 weeks is our current leader Dimitris Gavles who has held a top position for ONLY 3 weeks.
ALL of our (ex)leaders…all of the players we have been watching and tracking for nearly the entire season, are now below the top ten ranking.
It is really no secret how these new contenders climbed to the top. Nine of the Top Ten used their Triple Captain Chip for GW 34 while the remaining leader is using his triple captain this week with Kane as his selection. Six of our leaders also deployed their Wildcard in GW 33 thus setting them up for strategic success.
With GW 37 showing more potential opportunities, it will be interesting to see if the leaders change once again. Until then, let’s look at what our new leaders are doing.
Who was the most captained player by the top ten for Gameweek 35?
This week, 50% of top managers selected Aguero as their captain pick while another 20% selected Kane. The remaining three managers chose Sanchez, Firmino and Sturridge.

Who were the most popular players chosen by the top ten for Gameweek 35?
Goalkeepers: 20% of the top 10 played either de Gea, Hart or Mignolet while the remaining managers selected Schmeichel, Darlow, Forster and Cech.
Defenders: For Gameweek 35, 15 defenders made the cut. Bellerin was the most popular as 8 of the 10 managers selected him. Bellerin was followed by Simpson (50%), Morgan (30%), Gabriel, Moreno, Alderweireld and Sakho (20% ownership). The remaining defenders were the following all with 10% ownership: Clichy, Fuchs, Rose, Williams, Azpilicueta, Huth, van Aanholt, and Otamendi.
Midfielders: When you look at midfielders, the top 10 managers had 8 different picks. Sanchez was the most popular pick with 90% ownership. 70% of managers
selected Mahrez, while 60% selected Alli, and 50% Iwobi. Coutinho was selected by 40% followed by DeBruyne & Firmino with 30% ownership. And finally, Milner wrapped up the group with 10% ownership.
Forwards: This week, the front line consisted of only 5 picks among the top managers. 80% had Aguero while another 50% had Kane. Sturridge came in with an ownership rate of 40% while Defoe and Long each had 10% ownership.

In summation, the Must-Haves for top managers for Gameweek 35 were Bellerin, Simpson, Sanchez, Alli, Mahrez, Iwobi, Kane and Aguero as they all had an ownership rate of 50% or higher.
Other interesting facts:
* The average score for Gameweek 35 among the top 10 is currently 45 points which is 16 points above average for the week.
* Again, the longest reign of any of the leaders in the top ten is now only 3 weeks.
* England is dominating! 7 of the top ten are currently from England while the remaining leaders are from Sweden, Mongolia and Bulgaria.
* 60 points separates 1st from 10th. Our leader is currently at 2290 points.
* The average team value is £106.3.

Ok guys 1 more hit before the seasons over , my 1 wk wonder Pelle out , going to gamble on Luk might sound mad but there you go to do this I have to let KDB go so who can I have already have 3 Pool players so thinking Mata a leap of faith needed with both of these. Change my mind please
Morning Silvers….ok let’s start with Lukaku. Did you own him in DGW34?
Yes I did Cookie morning mate & he was a waste of space but who else is there could have Carroll , Martial or Dofoe for the double GW but Eve on paper have the easier games who do you thk ?????
Silvers, I like Everton’s matches in 36 & 38, but I think they struggle in DGW37. Personally I’d prefer Carroll, possibly Rashford for budget, potentially Defoe or Deeney. Sturridge is dependant on Europa, staying fit and of course Klopp’s rotation!

I’ve also played my WC this week for BB GW37 and struggling to decide whether to go with Sturridge, Costa (gamble) or downgrade to Rashford and get in KDB. I’m staying away from Lukaku!
It’s interesting to see the leader board completely change since DGW, it just shows that holding fire and planning does pay off.
My WC team currently:
Cech, Manonne
Alder, PVA, Francis, Cresswell, Simpson
Payet, Sanchez, Mahrez, Lingard, Alli (possible ban?)
Aguero, Kane, Sturridge.
Hi niknak, looks in good shape so far that. I’m not a WC myself but looking at next week I’m struggling to justify holding both Kane and Kun over the other DGW options. Seems that there are so many forwards for this one – Sturridge, Rashford, Carroll, Defoe, even the Watford boys. I’d be tempted to lose one, add DGW’er and use the excess funds to buy another DGW midfielder. That may have to be for Alli as it turns out!
I agree init. There are too many options to choose. I’m currently holding a slender lead in my ML so I could just be a little bit boring and cover 2nd places big hitters. But where’s the fun in that?
If Alli does get a ban then I’ll bring in Lanzini and upgrade Francis to a DGW player.
I’m all for covering mate and seeing out the win. I’d play safe then in that case and just do the other small bits of tinkering.
So I’ll leave the Costa punt out of it then. Although going for Sturridge is also one given is minutes on the pitch risk.
It looks like I’ll be taking Alli out this week then…
