Fantasy football Trends From The Top – GW37

Welcome to this week’s edition of Trends From the Top. What have the leaders been up to and what will our leaders being doing as we edge towards the end of the season and head into Gameweek 37 which is in fact a DGW for 8 teams? Let’s take a look and see what trends if any ensued.

Who were the most popular players chosen by the top ten for Gameweek 36?
Goalkeepers:
This week our top managers selected 7 different goalkeepers. Gomes, De Gea and Darlow were the most popular picks which each having an ownership rate of 20%. Kudos to those who advantageously selected Darlow and brought home 15 points. Robles, Cech, Hart and Schmeicel rounded off the selections for goalie as they each had 10% ownership.

Defenders:
As usual, we saw a plethora of defenders played by the top ten; a total of 12 different players. Bellerin was the most popular picks as 9 of the 10 managers selected him. Van aanholt came in at 40% ownership while Cresswell and Moreno each had 30%. Gabriel, Rojo, Rose, Simpson and Morgan each had 20% ownership while the remaining defenders all came in with 10% ownership: Alderweireld, Ogbonna, and Smalling.

Midfielders:
When you look at midfielders, the top 10 managers had 12 different picks with several getting only 10% of the vote such as Antonio, Lennon, Barkley, Noble, Counthino and Firmino. 100% of managers selected Sanchez followed by Payet and Mahrez with 80%, Townsend with 50%, Iwobi with 30%, and DeBruyne with 20%.

Forwards:
This week, the front line consisted of 8 picks among the top managers. 70% had Aguero yet out of those 7 managers, none of them gave Aguero the armband and considering the fact that he didn’t play, this wasn’t a bad idea. Kane was the next popular pick with 60% ownership followed by Sturridge with 50%, Defoe with 30%, Deeney and Carroll with 20% and Rashford and Lukaku with 10%

In summation, the ‘Must-Haves’ for top managers for Gameweek 36 were Bellerin, Sanchez, Payet, Mahrez,Townsend, Kane, Sturridge and Aguero as they all had an ownership rate of 50% or higher.

Other interesting facts:
•The average score for Gameweek 36 among the top 10 is currently at 45.4 points which was is 19 points above average for the week.

•The average team/club value was £106.4 with £108.9 being the most expensive team and £104.3 being the cheapest team.

• 7 of the top 10 selected Sanchez as their captain (6 points) while our #2 leader selected Deeney and accumulated 26 points. Sturridge and Payet were the remaining two captain picks.

• Yeah Troyyy Deeney, currently in the 4th position is a strong contender for a most excellent finish. For the 2014/2015 season, he finished #318.

• Most of the leaders have deployed all of their chips. Moreover, most used their wildcard in GW 33 and used their Triple Captain during gameweek 34.

• The average total of weeks these (new) leaders have been in the Top Ten is only 3.8 weeks.

• The top three leaders have currently maintained their positions for GW 36.

Hope this was useful!

I wonder… if folks still have a Bench Boost or a Triple Captain, can Gameweek 37 boost them past these current leaders?

Best of luck in Gameweek 37!

Hey guys, I have Payet and Carroll and was assuming I’d throw Cresswell in there for the DGW. Anyone thinking of putting Noble in that 3rd West Ham spot? Can his scoring run continue?

WOW!! The single most incredible sporting achievement is achieved!! Congratulations leicester city!!! The impossible dream is true!!! A win for a team of underdogs, a win for a manager who was repeatedly told he’d never win anything and a win against the big money and the idea that you can buy titles with just money and no passion. What a day for football; I’ll never forget this!!

Hey up Bob! How’s my little mate from across the pond doing these days?! I’ve seen you posting a few times but just never actually caught you at the time. How’s your season been mate?

      • billisBob says:

haha hey innit!! Not doing too bad considering my first GCSE is tomorrow hahahaha How are you doing? And how has your season been?
oh and I AM NOT FROM ACROSS THE POND how could you say that gosh I’m very English that hurts man lol

but yeah what was a terrible season in truth has really turned around at the help of some chips, some fantastic advice from here as always, and a bit of luck. 5 weeks ago I was really proud to have climbed into the top 200000, yesterday I was astonished to see my rank at 20000!! Up to seccond in my dad’s work money league also so super happy – if i finish there I’ll bag $125 so super happy ahhaha. Do kinda feel bad tho that I’m beating these guys who I’ve only met like twice or something haha but yeah

Good luck for the final two gameweeks!

        • Hey up BobbyBilly, go win that dosh. If i remember correctly you are a Villa fan, tough old season for them mate. Good luck with the exams.

GCSE’s?! Wow, how time flies eh, I remember you posting in the FFC days with your Dad looking over your shoulder, giving you 10 mins a night, and me sat here just hoping nobody (Raz) swore or something when you were on! laugh

Best of luck with those tomorrow mate, and for the rest when they follow.

20k is pretty decent this season, I’d take that right now! Had a fairly torrid one here too and only just recently managed to break into the top 100k which says it all really. Never finished outside the top 50k so this DGW best go well! That and nailing a TC will go a long way to deciding it all. ML hangs on both and I’ve never lost that in 8 seasons but there’s tiny points in it this time. Going to be a nervy few weeks to say the least!

          GL tomorrow.

hey thanks elle and innit! Really appreciate that! Apologies for the lag time, I had to return to revising.

Yeah I mean this season especially I’ve been much less of a Villa fan lol. Basically when I was really small my dad put me in a villa kit and like had everything sorted for me to be a villa fan lol, but one day when i was 5 he brought back the dvd of when Liverpool won the 2005 final and I was totally inspired by not that they won, but the way they did and ever since was a Pool fan really. Torres still is to this day my favourite player. But yeah I still watched Villa with my dad and they were more than firmly my second team, and I said i supported the two equally because I felt bad for him with the yearly relegation scraps on his own lol. But yeah I was very disappointed to see what happened this season; The club’s in turmoil really… Such a shame for such a club, which does hold a special place in my heart still… But yeah last season dad was conceived they were down and declared Leicester as his second team a whole year ago – he certainly didn’t see this coming!!
          anyway life story over lol

but yeah time sure does go fast innit! FFC… Those were the days! Carefree for the most part haha!! Yeah I still remeber that would thing where I wasn’t more than 1 hour of “Screen time” a day ahhahaah! That’s so funny to hear you hoped people didn’t swear laugh I’ll never forget the pride of winning that mini league just 2 years ago… and also the failure that was my first season haha. Whilst it wasn’t a good season, I remember it fondly it still, as it was how I found old FFC and a new passion of mine. Love this place and the game of fpl! It was that first season with about half a of it left when i found FFC and really started to love fpl and the community I found at FFC. As always, thanks to everyone who makes this place what it is.
It has been one hell of a weird season, that’s for sure! fpl and league-wise! You almost had to be either a bad fpl manager or really lucky to do well at this season’s start lol Good luck with the ML and everything, I’m sure you’ll do well! never seen such a consistent ranking year on year from anyone! and yeah, the TC is super important now! I’ve got no idea who to play it on haha So yeah good luck mate!

thanks again for the luck innit and elle! I’d better get back to studying now lol

        • billisBob says:

wow that is a long reply lol

It is! GL tomorrow and stop checking the site and get your revision done! And for God’s sake don’t fcking swear in your answers 😉

Evening, i already have Fabregas, so which one of these would you do ?
    1—KDB—>Hazard.
    2—Kun—>Costa.

+1. Hard not to seriously consider Eden after tonight. Changed the game, looked hungry and most importantly, match sharp!

Captain Dicky and His C Men says:

I’ve just confirmed Begovic, KDB and Coutinio to Payet, Hazard and Mannone. Good moves? Ive done them now, cant think about it anymore but cant risk Liverpool rotation (already have Sturrdige), fancy Mannone to get 1 cs and have triple captain on Payet but seriously tempted to put it on Hazard!
