Fantasy football Trends From The Top – GW37

Welcome to this week’s edition of Trends From the Top. What have the leaders been up to and what will our leaders being doing as we edge towards the end of the season and head into Gameweek 37 which is in fact a DGW for 8 teams? Let’s take a look and see what trends if any ensued.

Who were the most popular players chosen by the top ten for Gameweek 36?
Goalkeepers:
This week our top managers selected 7 different goalkeepers. Gomes, De Gea and Darlow were the most popular picks which each having an ownership rate of 20%. Kudos to those who advantageously selected Darlow and brought home 15 points. Robles, Cech, Hart and Schmeicel rounded off the selections for goalie as they each had 10% ownership.

Defenders:
As usual, we saw a plethora of defenders played by the top ten; a total of 12 different players. Bellerin was the most popular picks as 9 of the 10 managers selected him. Van aanholt came in at 40% ownership while Cresswell and Moreno each had 30%. Gabriel, Rojo, Rose, Simpson and Morgan each had 20% ownership while the remaining defenders all came in with 10% ownership: Alderweireld, Ogbonna, and Smalling.

Midfielders:
When you look at midfielders, the top 10 managers had 12 different picks with several getting only 10% of the vote such as Antonio, Lennon, Barkley, Noble, Counthino and Firmino. 100% of managers selected Sanchez followed by Payet and Mahrez with 80%, Townsend with 50%, Iwobi with 30%, and DeBruyne with 20%.

Forwards:
This week, the front line consisted of 8 picks among the top managers. 70% had Aguero yet out of those 7 managers, none of them gave Aguero the armband and considering the fact that he didn’t play, this wasn’t a bad idea. Kane was the next popular pick with 60% ownership followed by Sturridge with 50%, Defoe with 30%, Deeney and Carroll with 20% and Rashford and Lukaku with 10%

In summation, the ‘Must-Haves’ for top managers for Gameweek 36 were Bellerin, Sanchez, Payet, Mahrez,Townsend, Kane, Sturridge and Aguero as they all had an ownership rate of 50% or higher.

• 7 of the top 10 selected Sanchez as their captain (6 points) while our #2 leader selected Deeney and accumulated 26 points. Sturridge and Payet were the remaining two captain picks.

• Yeah Troyyy Deeney, currently in the 4th position is a strong contender for a most excellent finish. For the 2014/2015 season, he finished #318.

• Most of the leaders have deployed all of their chips. Moreover, most used their wildcard in GW 33 and used their Triple Captain during gameweek 34.

• The average total of weeks these (new) leaders have been in the Top Ten is only 3.8 weeks.

Hope this was useful!

I wonder… if folks still have a Bench Boost or a Triple Captain, can Gameweek 37 boost them past these current leaders?

Best of luck in Gameweek 37!

    Gents,

What do you reckon to this team for GW37:

Kane to Carroll for a -4
I have already done bellerin to cresswell, also tempted to bring in hazard but don’t know who for – any suggestions

this is a possible draft. How many DGW players is enough for this GW?

I still have trip skipper chip left, I am ranked 130K in the world and chasing my mini league by 40 points.

Is a 12 point hit worth it though.

I have dropped Sakho, Koscielny, Kun and Kane for Cresswell, Azpi, Carrol and Costa

Hi charl, 40’s a fairly big gap so you may as well go for it and chase it down with some hits and see what happens. You just never know your luck.

I think I might just wing it, I am in a H2H semi this week with R7000 up for grabs in our mini league so have to play nice but I have trip captain chip and my opponent has non

Morning all not impressed NIN you have knocked Matt & I off the top off the Doubles league a shrewd move putting Haz in , thk you are in slightly better position than us You should be able to field 11 DGW players for 1 hit we can only field 8 but we still have are TC could go down to the last day. 😉

Captain Dicky and His C Men says:

Good to go? Kun on the bench, am I crazy? I could play AOA and save TC for the last game week?

      inittowinit says:

Hi Captain, I’d keep the TC in this one and then it’s a straight choice between Kun and Sanchez for the bench spot. I’d probably bench Sanchez just because City are at home. I’d defo rather chance the TC over 2 guys than one though. You can still cap Sanchez in 38, just in the normal way!

Captain Dicky and His C Men says:

Sturridge is a tough call, he might well play 180 mins and score really well but you never know with Klopp. I’m keeping him but its anyone’s guess. United have 2 tough fixtures, both away, against a side fighting for survival and a very good West Ham side. Kane to Carroll seems a good move, and defiantly Hazard over Willian, I’m so tempted to triple captain him.
