Fantasy football Trends From The Top – GW37

Welcome to this week’s edition of Trends From the Top. What have the leaders been up to and what will our leaders being doing as we edge towards the end of the season and head into Gameweek 37 which is in fact a DGW for 8 teams? Let’s take a look and see what trends if any ensued.

Who were the most popular players chosen by the top ten for Gameweek 36?
Goalkeepers:
This week our top managers selected 7 different goalkeepers. Gomes, De Gea and Darlow were the most popular picks which each having an ownership rate of 20%. Kudos to those who advantageously selected Darlow and brought home 15 points. Robles, Cech, Hart and Schmeicel rounded off the selections for goalie as they each had 10% ownership.

Defenders:
As usual, we saw a plethora of defenders played by the top ten; a total of 12 different players. Bellerin was the most popular picks as 9 of the 10 managers selected him. Van aanholt came in at 40% ownership while Cresswell and Moreno each had 30%. Gabriel, Rojo, Rose, Simpson and Morgan each had 20% ownership while the remaining defenders all came in with 10% ownership: Alderweireld, Ogbonna, and Smalling.

Midfielders:
When you look at midfielders, the top 10 managers had 12 different picks with several getting only 10% of the vote such as Antonio, Lennon, Barkley, Noble, Counthino and Firmino. 100% of managers selected Sanchez followed by Payet and Mahrez with 80%, Townsend with 50%, Iwobi with 30%, and DeBruyne with 20%.

Forwards:
This week, the front line consisted of 8 picks among the top managers. 70% had Aguero yet out of those 7 managers, none of them gave Aguero the armband and considering the fact that he didn’t play, this wasn’t a bad idea. Kane was the next popular pick with 60% ownership followed by Sturridge with 50%, Defoe with 30%, Deeney and Carroll with 20% and Rashford and Lukaku with 10%

In summation, the ‘Must-Haves’ for top managers for Gameweek 36 were Bellerin, Sanchez, Payet, Mahrez,Townsend, Kane, Sturridge and Aguero as they all had an ownership rate of 50% or higher.

Other interesting facts:
•The average score for Gameweek 36 among the top 10 is currently at 45.4 points which was is 19 points above average for the week.

•The average team/club value was £106.4 with £108.9 being the most expensive team and £104.3 being the cheapest team.

• 7 of the top 10 selected Sanchez as their captain (6 points) while our #2 leader selected Deeney and accumulated 26 points. Sturridge and Payet were the remaining two captain picks.

• Yeah Troyyy Deeney, currently in the 4th position is a strong contender for a most excellent finish. For the 2014/2015 season, he finished #318.

• Most of the leaders have deployed all of their chips. Moreover, most used their wildcard in GW 33 and used their Triple Captain during gameweek 34.

• The average total of weeks these (new) leaders have been in the Top Ten is only 3.8 weeks.

• The top three leaders have currently maintained their positions for GW 36.

• England represented 70% the leader board as while the other countries represented were Sweden (10%), Ireland (10%), and Bulgaria (10%).

Hope this was useful!

I wonder… if folks still have a Bench Boost or a Triple Captain, can Gameweek 37 boost them past these current leaders?

Best of luck in Gameweek 37!

So, with my wildcard available, I’ve created something beautiful…

Obviously, with endless choices available, I would like some thoughts from you guys. I can see a few in there that are big risks, and I’m sure I’m missing some certainties. What do you think?

Hell of a team there TJ, I wouldn’t risk Lukaku however – his form has just gone and done a Hazard while Hazard well… you know that story. 😉

      Silvers says:

Morning TJ this looks like a good team but I would say the only teams that have anything to play for our Mun , WHU , Sun & Nor so I thk I would have Carroll & Rasford up front , along with Defoe , possibly a Nor Def over Azip , Haz hitting a bit of form but all to late , & what can I say about Eve 😉

    Thanks for the article Beka!

Gang, I’m putting my team in your hands! What to do? 1 ft, 0.1 itb – open to a -8. Help!

    Migs, Robles
    Simpson, Kirchoff, Cathcart, Gabriel, Delaney
    Sanchez, Mahrez, Coutinho, Payet, Lanzini
    Kun, Kane, Welbeck

      Silvers says:

Hey Colriles how are we thk I would do
Kane , Welbeck & Mahrez to Carroll , Defoe & Firmino if you have enough cash 😉

      The B says:

      Welbeck > Defoe

Coutinho > Firmino (could blow up in your face if Coutinho gets more minutes than Firmino, lets get LFC fans’ opinion on this first)

Sanchez > Hazard (this move will take some balls)

      Colriles says:

Cheers Silvers and B. So I’ve gone with Welbeck > Carroll. So do I go with one of these other moves for a -4 or -8?

      1- Kun/Kane > Defoe (seems a bit insane)
      2- Sanchez > Hazard (tempting…)
      3- Gabriel/Delaney > Rojo/Valencia (too punty?)
