Fantasy football Trends From The Top – GW37
Welcome to this week’s edition of Trends From the Top. What have the leaders been up to and what will our leaders being doing as we edge towards the end of the season and head into Gameweek 37 which is in fact a DGW for 8 teams? Let’s take a look and see what trends if any ensued.
Who were the most popular players chosen by the top ten for Gameweek 36?
Goalkeepers:
This week our top managers selected 7 different goalkeepers. Gomes, De Gea and Darlow were the most popular picks which each having an ownership rate of 20%. Kudos to those who advantageously selected Darlow and brought home 15 points. Robles, Cech, Hart and Schmeicel rounded off the selections for goalie as they each had 10% ownership.
Defenders:
As usual, we saw a plethora of defenders played by the top ten; a total of 12 different players. Bellerin was the most popular picks as 9 of the 10 managers selected him. Van aanholt came in at 40% ownership while Cresswell and Moreno each had 30%. Gabriel, Rojo, Rose, Simpson and Morgan each had 20% ownership while the remaining defenders all came in with 10% ownership: Alderweireld, Ogbonna, and Smalling.
Midfielders:
When you look at midfielders, the top 10 managers had 12 different picks with several getting only 10% of the vote such as Antonio, Lennon, Barkley, Noble, Counthino and Firmino. 100% of managers selected Sanchez followed by Payet and Mahrez with 80%, Townsend with 50%, Iwobi with 30%, and DeBruyne with 20%.
Forwards:
This week, the front line consisted of 8 picks among the top managers. 70% had Aguero yet out of those 7 managers, none of them gave Aguero the armband and considering the fact that he didn’t play, this wasn’t a bad idea. Kane was the next popular pick with 60% ownership followed by Sturridge with 50%, Defoe with 30%, Deeney and Carroll with 20% and Rashford and Lukaku with 10%
In summation, the ‘Must-Haves’ for top managers for Gameweek 36 were Bellerin, Sanchez, Payet, Mahrez,Townsend, Kane, Sturridge and Aguero as they all had an ownership rate of 50% or higher.

Terrible week as I only had 30 points with everyone benched. I’m still chasing 23 pts, both of us have TC to play
I already sold KDB for Payet.
A. Firmino, Rose, Alli to Hazard, PVA, Noble for -12
B. Alli, Rose, Sakho to William, PVA, Cresswell for -12
Note that my opponent is likely to TC Payet and so I should be TCing Sanchez on 38. I’m leaning towards A as I think he will bring in Cresswell this week and I wanna be diff. Thanks very much for all your help, I really wanna win this ML
DDG, Robles
Bellerin, Rose, Sakho, Delaney, Fuchs
Payet, Sanchez, Firmino, Iwobi Alli
Kun Sturridge Carroll
Neo
23 points can be done don’t overthink it.
I would advise TCing this week yourself. Sanchez in the last match I have gone off personally. Much better to have a player playing two matches that mean something. West Ham immediately spring to mind. If you are certain he is on for Payet, why don’t you go Carroll?
I prefer option A there as well. Whether you give yourself another 12 to make up is your call. Personally I would hope Hazard and Noble could make that up for you across their two games.
I’m leaning towards A but does Hazard play 90 mins nowadays? He does seem on form that’s for sure!
How about option B but Townsend for Alli ? I know he doesn’t have a dgw but Newcastle play villa away in a must win game and he is one of their most attacking threats.I’d have him over Willian and he will be a great differential for you.
Thanks for the advice as always. My opponent has
Gomes Robles
Dann Bellerin Lovren Simpson Gab
Townsend Sanchez Payet Mahrez Lingard
Kun Sturridge Carroll
I can’t bring Townsend in because he already has it already! Any suggestions on how I can make up 23 points? My opponent is probably going with Payet TC
Or C) Aguero, Alli, Sakho for Costa, Hazard, Kirchoff for -12?
