Who are you? Who are you? Fantasy manager profiles Part 5

Here at FF247 towers we’ve often wondered what driving forces hide behind a comment or a rate my team reply, do we really know the mindset and the persona of the people we are conversing with?! To find the answers to these questions we have lured some regulars from out of their caves and got them to endure a simple Q&A session.
Hopefully this will help us to uncover whether each member can be viewed as a ‘fellow sports enthusiast’, ‘colleague’, ‘fantasy friend’, ‘internet troll’ or indeed ‘sociopath’! Let’s take a look inside the minds of our latest two ‘victims’ then and see whether, hiding behind the cute monkey gravatars, lurks a sadistic, megalomaniacal, psychotic keyboard warrior. Or just a normal guy or gal who likes to play fantasy football…
We will add a disclaimer here – we have resolved to not edit what is sent in at all. What you see is what you (we) get. And no Bench, we aren’t just saying that because it’s your turn 😉
Next up to the examination table are Bench and Monty(Caz Daz).

Is the general consensus that Costa is a must for next Gw?

    NIN says:

Bye bye FMLS. Thanks for all the help throughout the season folks, it’s much appreciated

      NIN

I had a very disappointing final week and my first below average score in about three months!

Left on a bit of a downer but I’l be back next year.

      • NIN says:

Same here, disappointing end to the season. I was in 144th as recently as gwk 28 but slipped to 287th as end rank. Still, decent for a first effort i suppose. I’m buzzing for next season already laugh

Right i’m off to bring the pooch for a walk. Catch you later mate.

        • NIN

          That is a great rank.

Congratulations, you’ve set a high standard for yourself for next season.

        • Shadow says:

Unfortunately what with going on holiday and then moving house I never had chance to do the MLS from about round 21 onwards.

Hopefully be back on it next season with an actual broadband connection!

        • I finished 3711 overall, don’t think i’ll play next year, its absolute crap, the amount of times i had players not playing and no auto subs was ridiculous, they need to change the rules. Idiotic americans.

        • nice one lads.. I finished 348 overall so really pleased with it… But, you know… It just doesn’t quite feel the same..

Getting a whopping score and being top 100 (as I was for a time) feels… kinda….. empty… As in comparison to FPL. Know what I mean ?? Or not

        • Sorry, 356.. But who’s splitting hairs hey

        • NIN says:

Good stuff lads, the FF247 league was pretty damn good considering how many first time players there were. Kudos to all

Now, back to business, FPL, Mangala needs to go but who to replace him with? I’m thinking Coleman, squad is linked. Ta.

        • Demsie

          Great ranking well done.

And elle I agree. It is a system i don’t like at all. Should be autosub definitely. Like I’m up at 3 or 4 in the morning checking line ups in America!

        • Shadow says:

Thinking of doubling up with Baines?

What about Cahill? Chelsea’s fixtures are pretty appealing

        • NIN says:

Shadow – Cahill isn’t really justifying the price tag so far. Coleman is three points ahead of him having played four less games.

        • Calvin Clyne says:

Yeah Shadow, I’ve had Ivanovic for a good few GWs now and he’s done nothing. I’m reluctant to ship as I just know as soon as I do he will start raking it in again, but I am strongly considering a Baines + Coleman combo instead.

        • Shadow says:

Fair point, just think there’s plenty of clean sheet opportunities coming.

Saying that I have Terry and probably going to get rid of him for Baines this week even though they have QPR at home!

        • NIN says:

F**k it. I’m doing it now. Mangala -> Coleman. I’ll only end up changing my mind again and doing a less profitable transfer. Lets go Seamus 😉 Little dixie.

        • Calvin Clyne says:

After that great debut Mangala hasn’t really looked up to much has he, unlucky NIN. And not sure if I’m having a brain fart but that is how you spell debut right?? It’s got a red squiggly line underneath it for some reason..

        • NIN says:

Weird, that’s definitely the right spelling. Yeah Mangala/City just aren’t doing it defensively. Even big Vinny has been a bit ropey so far. I’m disgusted Coleman got injured a few weeks ago, would have caught the double mega haul vs Villa. Drat.

    Pippin says:

Morning/afternoon all of you! Hope there were good (or at least above average!) scores all around. I ended on 43, with Coloccini coming off the bench tonight. Snuck up a few places I think.

My plan remains to overhaul my defence (and wish I’d gone Chambers instead of Wisdom this week!). Chambers and Hutton are on my radar for Taylor and Wilson respectively. Taylor will drop I think when Swansea’s fixtures hit, and at 4.6 now he’s a straight swap for Chambers. Colo might do ok if Newcastle’s slow resurgence continues….haha.

Thing is, I’m tempted by Sterling > Alexis this weekend (kneejerk, I know, but Sterling isn’t getting much joy amongst his underwhelming teammates). But maybe I should hold off due to ‘pool playing Newcastle? Also, might be worth holding onto a transfer in case Siggy or Costa doesn’t make it.

Last thing: I am vaguely considering the WC in order to solidify my place high up the rankings. I doubt it’s necessary but I’m just a little frustrated by a few of my team, and there will be others soon whose fixtures deteriorate: Forster will have to go, for example; also Pelle might have a better option coming in. Thoughts on this?

      Pippin says:

And while my team is linked, here’s next week’s lineup as it stands. Thanks all!

      • Raziel says:

Team looks good. Wait with transfers if you can.

WC that team? You’re crazy. Might need it much more later in the season. Also, with a bit of luck we get a few DGW’s in march/april, you can setup teams and receive double points. That’s what I’m planning anyway. Unless I suddenly have 6 players injured.

        • Pippin says:

Thanks Raz. You feeling better today mate?

Mostly I just am annoyed that I might be spending transfers for defenders over a few weeks, not seeing the benefits and then missing out on exciting developments higher up the pitch. But I could probably go with my current front 7 for at least 2-3 more matches (injuries, rests pending of course) and take the time to consider how best to fix the defence. It’s not like many teams are keeping CS consistently either. There’s been a surprising lack of them this season– I feel like the beginning of last season it was par for the course.

        • Raziel says:

Think last season started with a lot of cleansheets but ended with with a very few. Main reason why I’m keeping Baines and I’ll try to add more players like Chambers/Clyne/Wisdom later (atm I’m stuck with Hutton, Dummett, Moore). Put my focus on 1 goalie, 2 class defenders, and 7 class offensive players. It has worked out though Falcao not playing sort of made my butt itch. I read Falcao is the best one with the head at United, all the players say so, just think would could’ve been if it was him instead of … at United? I think a fit Falcao is going to be awesome.

Yeah, doing better. My shite isn’t as liquid as it was yesterday. Penicillin obviously still in my blood though, doc said if it takes a turn for the worse, I’d have to drop by.

        • Pippin says:

Good to hear (thanks for the detailed response….!)

Falcao is a great player- when he clicks you’ll be rolling in the points.

        • Raziel says:

Yeah, the plan was having Falcao/Kun/Drogba. :p

        • Raziel says:

Ummm I mean Falcao/Kun/Costa …. LOL… once Costa is fit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Veer says:

Afternoon all, can i have some help with my team? No idea what transfers to do this week! I was planning to play my WC but that seems really unnecessary now. Thinking of selling Siggy, he has 3 hard fixtures, and has got 3 assists in the last six games (with opposition including Newcastle, as someone said yesterdday), and maybe Shawcross. Thoughts?

    • 29.1
      Pippin says:

Siggy has a great relationship with Bony now and his stats don’t really match how well he’s played. I don’t know if it’s possible to find *chances created* anywhere online? Whoscored.com maybe? I would hesitate to drop him unless he’s confirmed out as injured for a few weeks.

    • 29.2
      Raziel says:

If Siggy is fit I will def. not be selling him. He’s key in everything Swansea does. Isn’t he assisting he’s setting up the goal. Scored 2 wondergoals versus Holland and he can do the same in the EPL. I’m just watching how serious his injury is. Everybody is jumping on the Barkley bandwagon and he didn’t even start the last game. I was also thinking Chadli but he hasn’t done anything the last 3 games, well 1 assist. I only let go of topnotch players if I really have to. And remember, it will be much harder to buy him back. My Costa buy back plan paid off but doubt Siggy will drop 0.4m anytime soon. Oooh yeah, Siggy is playing against big opposition but not the best defenses in the league. 😉

    • 29.3
      Veer says:

Thanks guys! I’ll be keeping Siggy then! Should I do anything about Shawcross?

      • gkw says:

Hi Veer, no need for you to be making so many changes. Stick with Shawcross for now. The players to think about switching are your goalkeepers. Mannone is in danger of losing his starting place, so be on the lookout for a replacement.
