Fantasy Premier League Ramblings 2018/19
Sometimes I have thoughts and on occasion I am allowed to express them on here. Not sure where this article is headed, but let us just type away and see what comes of it.
There has been some mention of Keita on the site recently and he has started to appear on some of the teams managers have been posting. I have been particularly interested in him and have been trying to monitor the commentary on top of whatever I can watch of him. His previous numbers tend to reveal that 10 goals and 10 assists is not a huge ask for this season, assuming he gets between 2800-3000 minutes. In fact, an uptick on assists is very possible, since when we look at his previous assist tallies we are not looking at FPL assists, which are a bit different.
On paper, it feels like he could be a bonus point magnet, but it is hard work winning them bonus points with the kind of players he will have alongside him. So he can have many a standout game and fall short in bonus points because the front three combined for four goals. Plus, there is also yellow cards. Keita doesn’t mind picking one up which will also cut into his chances at bonus points. Despite those things though, he is still likely to get his fair share. He should make a key pass or two per game and on this team, it could be more. Plus if he carries on like he did in the Bundesliga he will be elite at completing dribbles which the BPS system loves. Add his capacity for recovering balls and if he does get about 10 and 10 on goals and assists, he should be near 20 bonus points for the season.
My biggest reservation about having Keita is not his price (that’s perfect) it is that he takes up a LFC spot and when there is a huge interest in having a defender of theirs and possibly Salah and Firmino, tough decisions have to be made. There feels like there is similar value and similarly priced players, where we wouldn’t have to take a coveted LFC player spot up with Keita. Ramsey and Mkhi, Pogba and Lingard, Groß and some a bit cheaper that could also pan out. So why tie up the spot when we could just go somewhere else for similar results?
I am asking you! Wait…you are waiting on me to answer that?
The thing is, do any of us know, I am sure we all have an opinion, but there is a lot of guesswork to this. Here is my guess, Keita will outperform just about everyone in his price bracket, which we will call the 6-8 million bracket. I do think Pogba will finally score well in FPL, but that’s a topic for a different day. So that means that if I set up my team right this minute, he be in. Who would I sacrifice? Probably my LFC defender, if I decide I want Firmino from the start. Yeah, Salah is definitely in, he is the most terrifying player since Suarez to watch play when you don’t own. Well that went a bit long, I wanted to write a paragraph on Keita and move on.
So instead of making some long winded opinions on other topics like I just did with Naby, let me offer some quick takes. Some of these will be familiar to people who frequent the board if you have seen any of my comments over the last couple of days.
– Zaha creates a lot of penalties for his team, second only to Sterling last season. Milivojevic is unlikely to replicate the goals from last season anyway, but if Zaha leaves there is no chance he will.
– City play the three newly promoted teams and the three promoted teams from last season right after Arsenal. So make sure you have some nice City coverage for GW’s 2-7 or it will likely lead to lots of misery.
– I did a set piece takers list HERE so don’t forget to check that out. Be aware though, don’t get too excited about who takes direct free kicks for a team. There was only 17 goals scored from said shots last season and two of those were scored by Coutinho. Having said that, every little bit helps and I still prefer whoever I own to be on them if possible.
– #DaveSaves I get it, set and forget. There is a lot of nice in not having to ever worry about that position, no transfers, no hits. I will say one thing, that might be considered negative. What is more likely, that he has another FPL season of 172 points or that he returns closer to what he averaged (136 by the way) the previous four seasons?
– I was going to make a point or two about Ralls from Cardiff, but that Cookie wrote an article on it, so just go check that out. HERE > Cookie loves Cardiff
– Besides Azpilicueta and maybe Alonso, there seems to be little to no interest in Chelsea on RMTs. However, I would advise to keep a closer eye on them. In particular if Hazard and Willian leave, there could be some real bargains in there. Pedro scored in their first game under Sarri in a 1-0 win and Fabregas was sitting higher then we have been accustomed to, in Cesc’s case he might get decent minutes even if the Belgian and Brazilian stay.

PRE-SEASON FRIENDLIES
Usually we run an article and ask people to get involved and cover the friendlies with any info they can gather. And it’s usually fun but in all honesty it’s usually also a bit messy and difficult to refer back to. This season we have one link that you will need need for all such info, courtesy of Mito –
Here you will find all the pre-season info you could ever wish for in one place – line-ups, scorers, assists, match info, sarcastic comments….

FIXTURE TRACKER LINK
It’s been a busy summer already with Arsenal, Everton, West Ham and Chelsea appointing new managers, Manchester City adding to their already dominant squad, Man Utd continuing to splash the cash and Liverpool trying to protect Karius by beefing up their midfield. Spurs may even have a new home soon.
And FPL wise, this is the place to discuss strategy, learn about the promoted teams and their players while in the days and weeks to come we’ll have plenty of articles, interviews, player analysis, Bore Offs, Tips, etc, etc.
So be sure to get involved in the discussions, the RMTs and the banter as we look forward to another season of Fantasy fun!
The League Codes for FF247 for the 2018/19 season are as follows –
ok, still struggling to get my best team:
Ederson/Boruc
Daniels/Cecric/Tomkins/Ward/Robertson
Mili/Salah/F.Anderson/Kante/Fernandinho
Arnie/Kane/Firmino
0m ITB
I want to build my team around Salah/Anderson/Arnie/Firmino… thoughts. Richarlison? Kane? Mili?
Is it easier to have the team shown as a jpeg?
Kante/Fernandinho… Surely there are better options than those? Fernandinho takes a precious City slot and Kante won’t do much anyway… Surely the 5.0m mids from the promoted teams are better than Kante, Cairney, Ralls, Costa, etc…
Also Kane is a bit expensive given he’s not 100% to start the season…. He might be in need of a rest…
BOU have signed a new LB so Daniels is in danger plus they can’t defend… (well, at least they couldn’t last season 🙂 )
Why is Anderson so important to you? I know not a lot about him… 🙂
Kante/Fernandinho – couldn’t see much better for the money. Did think about Cairney and Costa.
Who else instead of Kane, taking into account the big hitters do have tough games.
Anderson looks like he could be a good foil for Arnie, as could Yarmolenko. His stats look promising.
Kante/Fernandinho won’t score many points though, feels like a waste of money, I’d at least downgrade Kante to a 4.5m mid, say Ward, and use the 0.5m for something else! Also I’d really want some City attacking cover for the start with their fixtures after Arsenal, GWs 2-7 are just too mouthwatering for me, a City mid would be my bet and at least my strategy at the moment is to start with Mahrez/Sane and then switc to KDB…
Regarding Kane, I think either Kun or Auba are better bets from the start of the season, although if it seems Kane will start then why not.
Felipe is a nice player, could sneak in and get free kicks and some corners.
If Costa looks to start I be on him, if not Ralls also works. One other option and probably the best one long term, Kenedy from Newcastle is a nice player, just hate his fixtures, but he should get you what Fernandinho and Kante will even in his difficult fixtures, with a much higher ceiling in the easier fixtures than the two holding mids.
Yeah, Kenedy is good but I didn’t even mention him because of the horrible fixtures, but I agree he’s better than Kante… West Ham have a tough start to the season too so a double up with Anderson and Arnie seems a bit too much, Zaha has a lot better fixtures for instance for the same price, easy to switch to Arnie later perhaps…
guys, as you know, I am still relatively new here, but does the site have a search facility so I can look for my posts/comments. I spent ages looking for this one to see if there had been any new replies.
hammer, after you make a post, bookmark it mate, then easy to fimd.
Unless there are any more big signings I’m probably going to go with this.
I currently have 11 of those players, so I like it!!
Looks good AnttL!
Hard to find anything wrong with that XI
What’s the opinion between PEA and Kun? See a lot with either one. I currently have Kun
I’ve got Kun as he’s a good captain option in GW2, will switch to Auba in GW3…. maybe!
Are you 100% sure he starts GW2? 🙂 He probably will, but he’s been rotated with Jesus before, I get that they could both start together when Mendy is there perhaps but the risk is still there… It would definitely be Aguero for me and then switch to Auba in GW3 too if it was very likely Aguero would start in GW2, that’s key imo…
Also, I will have either Mahrez or Sane who will become KDB around GW3 too so I am hesitant to plan for too many transfers in advance, could be handy to start with Auba from the start… It’s a tough choice me thinks…
Zed I’m sometimes not even sure my own name! haha Like I said I may yet go with Auba as it saves me a transfer. Given my planned strategy this year its highly likely I will make that switch if I’m totally honest. I also have Mahrez, I’ll likely just stick with him until I WC, at which point I may switch to Sane or KDB if Mahrez isn’t performing.
Looks good. Davies won’t play every game once Trippier is fit right?
Davies plays on the left, Trippier on the right. Rose and Aurier are their respective rotation concerns.
They both play at the opposite flanks..Davies can see challenge from Rose, if any..
Thanks. Davies looks a good option then. He got rotated a lot last season didn’t he?
Thinking about 4-4-2.
Suggestions?
Looks like a great 4-4-2 side to me, only thing I would do at this stage is switch Romeu to Ward who has a lot more higher ceiling for a 4.5m mid!
Also, it seems like Bellerin will be rotated with Lichsteiner so another 5.5m def would be a better bet (unless you’re ok with the rotation of course)…
Is Monreal nailed? I don’t want to double up Everton def with Pickford. I am running out of options.
No, he’s not in my opinion, Kolasinac will pose a threat to him…
I think I have currently got the shakiest defence I’ve ever contemplated starting with hahah. A lot has changed since I was considering five premiums at the back! Aguero, Auba and Salah really do it up the budget. Durr!
2 x 11m forwards seems too much this season cos of Salah’s price unfortunately.
Indeed, gotta be lightweight in either defense or midfield… I thought Robertson was enough and then throw in some 4.5m defs in there, but there also could be some great value in midfield, so now I’m considering Salah+Mahrez with three cheap mids and a decent defense with it too…
Yep that’s what I have …. so far
I have Mahrez too hahah. I’d be happy with my defensive cover if they were nailed on, but they aren’t!
Afternoon all! Your thoughts on these 2 starting line-ups would be greatly appreciated..!
– Salah and Sessegnon, or
– Mane and De Bruyne
Feels like it should be an easier decision than I’m making it!
Here are the lineups…
How about this as an alternative?
De Bruyne probably won’t start the season so I’d go the first option. Plus the 2nd option doesn’t have Salah lol
Trip may not start the season either
S square
Good afternoon chaps. This new season has rolled around quickly with the world cup only just finishing. Think I was on draft 22 of my team this time last year. Anyhow, here’s draft 1 this year for you to tear apart:
I’ll try to be kind here!
Forster – unlikely to start with McCarthy and Gunn expected to be ahead
Daniels – Bournemouth just paid £10.7 for Rica who is a LB
Walker – likely to miss GW1 due to World Cup
Hazard – As above
Rashford – As above and IMO better options at £7.0m
No Salah is also IMO not a good idea!
Hope this helps and wasn’t too brutal!
Harsh but fair I think you can call that
Actually all fixed with little sweat
Rico is suspended for the first 3 games.
Sake. Back to Daniels
B’mouth have new l/back, forget Daniels too, lol
He’s the one that is suspended, Zorro!
Forget that, Rico is the defender ffs, duh
This is a funny thread.

What did I miss! 😉
