Fantasy Premier League Set Piece Takers 2014-15

Tips Ok then so we saw quite a few requests for an updated ‘Set-Piece takers’ list on the comments recently and it jogged our memory that we hadn’t done one and as ever we took notice and decided to take action. We had a quick look around the offices of FF247 and found Eddy and Flingy slumped in the corner playing cards and a light bulb came on! So suddenly Eddy became our roving reporter and was whisked around the world to see all of the pre-season friendlies he could manage in order to bring you the latest set-piece table, while we locked Flingy in a darkened room, with Google as his only friend, to bring you the stats on last seasons set-piece specialists. Enjoy…

Please find below the FF247 Set Piece Takers List for 2014/15. This list is a guide that we hope will help you select players that have the potential to bring in goals and crucial assist points. The table is based on information gathered from last season’s games, Opta stats, pre-season friendlies and FF247 community input.

The article itself is archived under the tab at the top of the page entitled Tips/News and is linked under the drop down box ‘FPL SET-PIECE TAKERS 2014-15’ so you can refer back to it at any time, as are many of our other articles and helpful tools such as Fixture Tracker and Weekly Tips.

Please be aware that this list is subject to change due to player injuries, drop in form, suspensions, manager whims, etc. The list will be updated throughout the season and as ever we welcome anybody in our community to inform us if you are aware of any updated roles or indeed anything you think we have got wildly inaccurate! You’re not perfect and neither are we 😉

Players are listed in order of priority for each particular role –

So while Eddy was jet setting around the globe, Flingy was busy squirreling away to bring us the highlights of last season’s set-piece stats which are below for your perusal. The first deals with the players who had the ‘Most’ in each section. The second examines the teams themselves. We hope you find these both informative and helpful. There are obviously some players in there who are no longer with us (gone abroad, not died) and there are new players at some clubs who will take over some of these duties.

  1. Eddy

    Here we go :

    • Nice one TGP, im also waiting to see who starts for Sunderland in Goal. Solid line up that mate

      • looks good GP smile
eddy- should be pant but keep monitoring it!

      • This is my initial squad TGP.

        • Eddy

          Very strong indeed.

I would love to take the chance on de Jong and May still do but just not in my latest draft.

Bruce would be my only concern for game time. If Wisdom and Hoiveld both play you are laughing.

        • Cheers TGP, im monitoring the Bruce situation, he played in the Europa Tie last week but that means feck all. The defence is the sticking point though.

  2. How many of you lot have Jovetic in your team?

    • yup, looks good in pre season, guess it depends on who pellegrini plays

      • Bold pick, I like it, if their initial fixtures were better I’d probably be on him but not sure who I’d sacrifice!

    • Hi Whites yes Jovetic in mine but still tinkering will see in C/cup who he plays

    • Can’t call it Mighty. Prefer Dzeko to him, but not risking either of them. Almost glad, as I can have Costa instead now.

  3. team currently looks like this.
    a penny for your thoughts?

also, any way i could fit bojan in there without weakening the defence?

  4. 1. Filipe Luis – Ben Davies – Ferdinand – Mariappa – Duff

    2. Filipe Luis – Ferdinand – Mariappa – Van Aanhoult – Coloccini

    • Option 2. Van A and Colocrazyhair rotate well and both offer good attacking potential. I think i’m having them too.

      • Thanks Chins. What’s your defence like?

        • Don’t know yet mate. I’ll not be doing my team proper until the end of next week. I just like what i’ve read about Van A, and crazyhair always gets forward for set pieces and was one of the first bargains i spotted when the prices came out. Plus, they rotate beautifully.

  5. Bojan and sterling
    or
    Jovetic and snodgrass (6miller)

    • Post your team mate. Answer probably depends on what/any other City and Liverpool coverage you have.

      • not much is probably the answer..

        • to get both coverage i guess i could just snoddy—> henderson

        • But you’ve still got the risk over Jovetic and you might have to play albrighton! Aaaarrrggghh! smile

        • I see. Tricky tricky tricky.

On one hand going with Sterling and Bojan gives you more certainty over starters whilst you wait to see what lineup City go with. But then you have the liverpool tricky opening fixtures.

I think i’d go Sterling and Bojan mate. Both in form and should start. Nice team.

        • ok will ponder a while until i can decide which way to go, thanks chins smile

  6. Also, seen lots of teams with both van aanholt aswell as pant/manonne. whys everyone doubling up on a cheap average defence?

    • Sunderland defense won’t be as bad this year in my opinion. Poyet is good at getting his defenses in shape. I won’t be putting any money on that though! smile
