Fantasy Premier League Set Piece Takers 2014-15
Ok then so we saw quite a few requests for an updated ‘Set-Piece takers’ list on the comments recently and it jogged our memory that we hadn’t done one and as ever we took notice and decided to take action. We had a quick look around the offices of FF247 and found Eddy and Flingy slumped in the corner playing cards and a light bulb came on! So suddenly Eddy became our roving reporter and was whisked around the world to see all of the pre-season friendlies he could manage in order to bring you the latest set-piece table, while we locked Flingy in a darkened room, with Google as his only friend, to bring you the stats on last seasons set-piece specialists. Enjoy…
Please find below the FF247 Set Piece Takers List for 2014/15. This list is a guide that we hope will help you select players that have the potential to bring in goals and crucial assist points. The table is based on information gathered from last season’s games, Opta stats, pre-season friendlies and FF247 community input.
The article itself is archived under the tab at the top of the page entitled Tips/News and is linked under the drop down box ‘FPL SET-PIECE TAKERS 2014-15’ so you can refer back to it at any time, as are many of our other articles and helpful tools such as Fixture Tracker and Weekly Tips.
Please be aware that this list is subject to change due to player injuries, drop in form, suspensions, manager whims, etc. The list will be updated throughout the season and as ever we welcome anybody in our community to inform us if you are aware of any updated roles or indeed anything you think we have got wildly inaccurate! You’re not perfect and neither are we 😉
Players are listed in order of priority for each particular role –

So while Eddy was jet setting around the globe, Flingy was busy squirreling away to bring us the highlights of last season’s set-piece stats which are below for your perusal. The first deals with the players who had the ‘Most’ in each section. The second examines the teams themselves. We hope you find these both informative and helpful. There are obviously some players in there who are no longer with us (gone abroad, not died) and there are new players at some clubs who will take over some of these duties.

Thanks for reading Fantasy Premier League Set Piece Takers 2014-15. These tips were brought to you by Eddy and Flingy.
Has any one looked @Markovic he should start opinions
Not yet. His stats at Benfica weren’t amazing or anything, he’s still 7,5m and are we certain he will start every game?
Silverback,
Liverpool attack is too congested. If all are fit I’d say only Sturridge and Sterling, you could put your shirt on.
Hi GP would you spend 20m on someone to sit on the bench ?
Silverback,
Me? No I’d spend £10M on a lesser player and keep the other £10M to myself
My point is, that I think you will see a lot of rotation in the Liverpool team especially in the attacking side. They also have Champion’s League to contend with now and I think anyone other than Sturridge or Sterling is an unnecessary risk to select from a fantasy prospective unless you have a suitable sub to take his place.
thanks GP Just trying to fit Sanchez in my team
Silverback,
Not sure i agree with TGP.
I think at least until lallana is back, Markovic should be almost guarenteed a start on the left wing. Rodgers has been raving about him and i think he’s looked pretty good so far.
I can’t speak of his stats at his previous club but seems to like taking players on and then going for the 18 yard box. If the fixtures were better, i’d consider him.
chins,
You may well be right pal. Rodgers speaks very well about all his players though, including the man who he mentioned was the teams “brain”, Philippe Coutinho.
Seems he has been playing Gerrard, Henderson, and Allen (or Lucas) with an attacking three made up of Sturridge (Lambert), Sterling, Ibe, Markovic and Coutinho. Which brings me back to my point, it is a very crowded area of the field for Liverpool.
Best 4.5 defenders. ATM I’ve got Ferdinand and Mariappa
Mighty
Colocinni, van Aanholt, Taylor.
Actually some good choices at that price, it’s the 4.0M range that is very tough to call.
Who do you have as 4.5 defenders Gallant?
Mighty
Current draft has Shackell (Burnley) and Taylor (Swansea).
Why Shackell? Surely there’s better options?
Mighty,
For Burnley do you mean or on the whole?
Well if it is for Burnley then not really – I can’t afford the extra 0.5M to upgrade to Trippier.
If you meant in general, then Burnley rotate in nicely with Taylor of Swansea and Huth or Pieters (still not sure) of Stoke.
Fair enough. I meant in general. Why not go for Duff (0.5 cheaper)
Mighty, im not sure how much game time the 36 yr old Duff will get mate, Dyche is still very active in his attempts to get Craig Dawson from the Baggies. I suppose just keep an eye on the market mate.
Mighty,
Shackell is club captain so I know he is assured of his place. Duff is 36 years old and I’m not sure he will be up to playing in the Premier League each week.
They are also trying to sign Craig Dwason from WBA so I think Dyche is looking at
Trippier Shackell Dawson Mee
eddy
Well said ed !
You hanging outside my window watching me type?
How are you pal?
Lol, nice one TGP, a joint English/Scottish reply. Long gone are the days of Culloden and Bannockburn mate. Slàinte mhath
eddy,
Slainte Mhath to you always mate.
TGP, your team sorted yet mate? Ive just a couple of 4.0m defenders to keep an eye on over the next 10 days, hoping that Jos Hooiveld cements his starting berth at Saints.
Any one think Remy will start 1st game
He should start. You never know with these players though.
Opinion anyone?.
If Luis doesn’t start you’re doomed. Young could do well but I have Mata. Not sold on Lukaku, that’s 9m? Money which could be used elsewhere. Also, don’t Everton have really hard fixtures to start with?
Lukaku will score 15+ goals, how isn’t he worth 9.0m.
Arsenal and Chelsea in gameweek 2 and 3. Plus he wasn’t impressive at worldcup. But yeah, he could do well.
To be fair lukaku did really well against the top teams last season. It was against the smaller teams that he frustrated by not doing as well as you would expect
I’d at least like to see him in a few pre season games before forking out 9m on him, question marks over fitness and tough fixtures are putting me off.
Memphis Depay seems to be on his way to Spurs. Uncertain if that’s a wise move. Sighs.
Torn between these two options….care to vote?
1- Sanchez – Silva – Mata – Siggy – Henderson
Rooney – Costa – Zamora or…..
2- Sanchez – Nasri – Sterling – Siggy – Puncheon
Rooney – Costa – Bojan
Colriles,
I like 2 better – I’m considering Mr Bojan myself today. (I’ve previously had Zamora in a draft but I think that it’s a waste of time).
Thanks GP. Had Sterling in many drafts then swapped to Hendo to free up cash. After watching last night, really thinking Id like to hang on to Sterling this season.
Colriles,
Yeah he won the penalty so that would have been an assist in FPL terms. I just think he is such a good player who creates so much and carries such a threat. He is the best way in to take advantage of Liverpool’s superb style of attacking football.
Definitely option 2 for the long haul.
Having mata and shrek in option 1 might be better for the start though.
Cheers GP & Chins – now how the hell do I manage Sanchez-Nasri-Sterling-Mata-Siggy??!! :cuss:
That’s where Zamora Austin and sanago cone to your rescue!
Come.
Chins, started on your team yet?
Hi Calvin,
No, not yet mate.
And to make matters worse, i’m now completely hooked on Fantasy NFL. So much lovely stats and planning to wade through! I don’t know how i’m ever going to find the time to get a real job. This sh*t is full time!!
And we’ve got a doubles team to pick! I’ll get on my contribution to that tonight. Right after i rank all of the NFL wide receivers 1 to 100!!
Option 2, but instead of Sterling and Nasri why not Eriksen and Mata?
