Fantasy Premier League Set Piece Takers 2014-15

Tips Ok then so we saw quite a few requests for an updated ‘Set-Piece takers’ list on the comments recently and it jogged our memory that we hadn’t done one and as ever we took notice and decided to take action. We had a quick look around the offices of FF247 and found Eddy and Flingy slumped in the corner playing cards and a light bulb came on! So suddenly Eddy became our roving reporter and was whisked around the world to see all of the pre-season friendlies he could manage in order to bring you the latest set-piece table, while we locked Flingy in a darkened room, with Google as his only friend, to bring you the stats on last seasons set-piece specialists. Enjoy…

Please find below the FF247 Set Piece Takers List for 2014/15. This list is a guide that we hope will help you select players that have the potential to bring in goals and crucial assist points. The table is based on information gathered from last season’s games, Opta stats, pre-season friendlies and FF247 community input.

The article itself is archived under the tab at the top of the page entitled Tips/News and is linked under the drop down box ‘FPL SET-PIECE TAKERS 2014-15’ so you can refer back to it at any time, as are many of our other articles and helpful tools such as Fixture Tracker and Weekly Tips.

Please be aware that this list is subject to change due to player injuries, drop in form, suspensions, manager whims, etc. The list will be updated throughout the season and as ever we welcome anybody in our community to inform us if you are aware of any updated roles or indeed anything you think we have got wildly inaccurate! You’re not perfect and neither are we 😉

Players are listed in order of priority for each particular role –

So while Eddy was jet setting around the globe, Flingy was busy squirreling away to bring us the highlights of last season’s set-piece stats which are below for your perusal. The first deals with the players who had the ‘Most’ in each section. The second examines the teams themselves. We hope you find these both informative and helpful. There are obviously some players in there who are no longer with us (gone abroad, not died) and there are new players at some clubs who will take over some of these duties.

Not yet. His stats at Benfica weren’t amazing or anything, he’s still 7,5m and are we certain he will start every game?

      Silverback,

Liverpool attack is too congested. If all are fit I’d say only Sturridge and Sterling, you could put your shirt on.

      • Silverback says:

Hi GP would you spend 20m on someone to sit on the bench ?

        • Silverback,

Me? No I’d spend £10M on a lesser player and keep the other £10M to myself smile

My point is, that I think you will see a lot of rotation in the Liverpool team especially in the attacking side. They also have Champion’s League to contend with now and I think anyone other than Sturridge or Sterling is an unnecessary risk to select from a fantasy prospective unless you have a suitable sub to take his place.

        • Silverback says:

thanks GP Just trying to fit Sanchez in my team

      Silverback,
Not sure i agree with TGP.
I think at least until lallana is back, Markovic should be almost guarenteed a start on the left wing. Rodgers has been raving about him and i think he’s looked pretty good so far.
I can’t speak of his stats at his previous club but seems to like taking players on and then going for the 18 yard box. If the fixtures were better, i’d consider him.

      • chins,

You may well be right pal. Rodgers speaks very well about all his players though, including the man who he mentioned was the teams “brain”, Philippe Coutinho.

Seems he has been playing Gerrard, Henderson, and Allen (or Lucas) with an attacking three made up of Sturridge (Lambert), Sterling, Ibe, Markovic and Coutinho. Which brings me back to my point, it is a very crowded area of the field for Liverpool.

Best 4.5 defenders. ATM I’ve got Ferdinand and Mariappa

    Silverback says:

Any one think Remy will start 1st game

    Opinion anyone?.

      Raziel says:

If Luis doesn’t start you’re doomed. Young could do well but I have Mata. Not sold on Lukaku, that’s 9m? Money which could be used elsewhere. Also, don’t Everton have really hard fixtures to start with?

      • Ant0800 says:

Lukaku will score 15+ goals, how isn’t he worth 9.0m.

        • Raziel says:

Arsenal and Chelsea in gameweek 2 and 3. Plus he wasn’t impressive at worldcup. But yeah, he could do well.

        • bihom17 says:

To be fair lukaku did really well against the top teams last season. It was against the smaller teams that he frustrated by not doing as well as you would expect

        • Andy says:

I’d at least like to see him in a few pre season games before forking out 9m on him, question marks over fitness and tough fixtures are putting me off.

    Raziel says:

Memphis Depay seems to be on his way to Spurs. Uncertain if that’s a wise move. Sighs.

  6. 54
    Colriles says:

Torn between these two options….care to vote?

    1- Sanchez – Silva – Mata – Siggy – Henderson
    Rooney – Costa – Zamora or…..
    2- Sanchez – Nasri – Sterling – Siggy – Puncheon
    Rooney – Costa – Bojan
