Fantasy World Cup Live Match Chat Day 5
Well we’ve had a great start to the World Cup and there has been plenty to talk about from the opening 4 days…the referees are as dodgy as Sepp, Vincente Del Bosque has morphed into David Moyes, United fans are drooling over the imminent arrival of Louis van Gaal and then there’s England who despite playing well succumbed to the Italians.
Today sees the worlds #1 player enter the fray as Cristiano Ronaldo and 10 other Portuguese lads take on Germany at 5pm…do the schedulers not realise that some of us have work?!! We suspect that much of the fantasy focus will be on the aforementioned Ronaldo as well as Germany’s Mesut Ozil, while it will also be interesting to see if Miroslav Klose can equal the all time record for goals scored at the World Cup currently held by the original Ronaldo. This will hopefully be an open, free flowing game of football, so leave work early to ensure you’re home for kick off!
At 8pm we move onto the heavyweight clash between Iran and Nigeria. Ok so it’s not much of a heavyweight clash but I can’t really think of much to say about either team! However due to the fact that a number of the Iranians were priced at £1.0m the vast majority of us will be cheering at least one or two Ayatollah’s! We suspect that there has been little investment in the Nigerian side although they do have a number of representatives from the Premier League so this could generate some interest.
Our final game of the day kicks off at 11pm as Ghana and America meet in Natal and again, this is a game that is unlikely to set the world alight. Those who play fantasy MLS are likely to take a keen interest in this as the Americans will be household names to them, while Chelsea fans will be keeping an eye on Christian Atsu.
do we know when we’ll be able to sort out teams for phase 2 yet then? will it be prior to the brazil match or do we have to wait till phase 1 has ended?
Montazeri CS woohoooo
Howard, Bradley, Besler, Beasley, Dempsey (c), Bedoya, Jones, Beckerman, Altidore, Cameron, Johnson.
Kwarasey, Gyan (c), Opare, Atsu, A. Ayew, Muntari, J. Ayew, Rabiu, Mensah, Asamoah, Boye.
Same lineup that we used against Nigeria.
How do you reckon ye’ll get on Josh?
I’m thinking it’ll be a tight game. We have 3 center mids in again so our midfield should be very solid like it was against Nigeria where they hardly created any chances. I’m thinking a 2-1 win for us.
Who doesn’t love an Iranian clean sheet?!!
Me, left him on the bench. Drat.
Ouch!!
Kop, i had a nigerian defender. Can’t see any clean sheet points yet though. Hope they remember to add them on!
That will leave me with rojo as my lowest scoring defender with 7 points. Would you risk swapping him for either an Algerian or Belgium defender? (I have midfielders on 6 points that i’d rather take out but can’t risk a formation change as lahm is on the far right!)
A Nigerian defender? I think you know a little more than you let on Chins
I think I’d play safe and stick with the 7 points but I’m sure others will suggest you gamble!!
I would play it safe. 7 isn’t too bad.
Haha Kop. Maybe, but it’s all relative. I was going off a very low base! 😉
So have your iran cs points been added? I’m getting worried that i maybe victim of another md balls up.
+1, 7 is my cut-off point for keeping
Yep I have Rojo as well and he’s staying. I took off Manolas though and he still hasn’t been deducted points for conceding 3 goals. Maybe they forgot?
Cheers Josh and Calvin. Guess i’ll stick then.
Last roll of the dice is Lukaku tomorrow. Quite happy so far. (Assuming my captain gets his points back!)
Go Montazeri! Should have captained him!
Relying on De Bruyne, Vertonghen or Dzagoev for captain points now.
Hosseini my Iran defender.
12 points yes 12 points, thankyou so much Jalal.
