Fantasy World Cup Live Match Chat Day 6
Ok, so today could be interesting! Group stage 1 ends and Group stage 2 begins. If only it were that simple… Just so we are all perfectly clear here there are three games today. The first and the last ones are in stage 1, the Brazil game in the middle is actually the start of stage 2. Now how McDonald’s choose to handle this quirk could be anybody’s guess and judging by the way they have handled the whole fiasco so far we are not holding our breath on this being a smooth transition! Please keep us updated throughout the day if anyone notices anything to indicate that Group stage 2 is open on their site.
As for the games themselves we begin at 5pm with Belgium vs Algeria. This could be a game with plenty of fantasy interest, some intentional and perhaps some not! Hazard, De Bruyne, Lukaku and the Belgian defence all proved popular choices prior to the tournament so it will be interesting to see if they can deliver on that promise. The Algerians inadvertently attracted equal attention due to their plethora of £1m squad fillers. Judging by the amount of botched formation changes though, a lot of people could be cheering on the Algerians!
It’s then back to the hosts Brazil as they and Mexico face off for their second games of the tournament at 8pm. Last time out Neymar and Oscar delighted while Fred frustrated but can the golden boys shine again against a Mexico side who also began the tournament with a decent victory over Cameroon.
We round the evening off and indeed stage 1 at 11pm as Russia and South Korea take their tournament bows. It’s difficult to think of two countries who have courted as much political controversy as of late so whether this encounter will provide some light relief for their fans we shall see but one things for certain, whatever the outcome, the Koreans will be informed with glee of their glorious 5 – 0 victory.
Just changed formation, successfully. Worked perfect.
No removal of the player on the right now then etc etc?
nope – it worked perfectly. Changed 3-4-3 to 4-4-2. Took out my striker, changed formation, added my defender. Easiest thing I’ve ever done, bar that night in Romford when I met a nurse……
What formation did she want to play?
She wasn’t very defensive and tended to be heavily weighted up front, which was fun – the problems arose when I tried to make a substitution just after I’d scored the winner.
The player he removed must already have been the striker furthest to the right then I’m guessing. I really recommend that people don’t remove a player before changing formation as from what I have gathered it doesn’t give two hoots about that and you could find yourself with 2 guys removed afterwards.
Just to clarify, was this in your round 2 team?
I just tried to change 4-4-2 to 3-4-3 and I removed a defender first but it still proceeded to them remove another defender when I changed formation.
See my post above yours! Don’t remove anyone before changing formation!
I changed formation 1st + it still took out 2 players, shite site.
did you really Elle? you never mentioned it…..
If the leagues positions have updated then I’m leading Group E even with the mishap of Oscar being removed from my team and with KDB/Vertonghen/Bentaleb and Lukaku left to play
Think the author of this article is confusing South Korea with North Korea
it’s a bit late to ask maybe, but can we transfer player in or out during this group stage?
because the countdown on transfer windows says it will be open in 9 days and in the rules page it said Number of transfers = 0. really, no transfer at all in 3 group stage match?
No transfers untill the last 16 i’m afraid, you are stuck with your 23. You can change your players now for gameweek 2 tho.
That sounds like i’ve contradicted myself, you can move your 23 man squad around for gameweek 2.
thanks for confirmed it, i’m doomed then :whacky:
i got it wrong, my strategy is to buy a player with easy fixture, take some hits, then i’ll be fine. which is why i avoid the likes of ronaldo, robben, rvp (hard fixture). but if holland keep their form and ronaldo turn into beast mode, my loss.
Pretty pleased with my start; 117 points from stage 1! Big haul from Germany and Brazil
Still got Kevin De Bruyne to play too
That’s great going Cliffy
Cheers mate! How are you getting on with it? Big score?
Nah mate, I’m struggling – got a few playing tonight including my capo so it may improve but I’m not that bullish!
Predict my pretties.
