Fantasy World Cup Live Match Chat Semi Finals
And then there were four. It’s semi-final time at the World Cup and very much a South America vs Europe affair. We’ve said a sad farewell to Colombia, who received an amazing reception when they returned to Bogota. Also offski are Costa Rica, who played with so much heart and a stubborn defence throughout the tournament, while Belgium and France have also exited stage left.
Our first semi-final sees hosts Brazil take on the World Cup’s Herr Consistent, Germany. Since 1950, the Germans have failed to reach at least the quarter-final stage on just one occasion and will be looking to add to their three stars by going all the way. Brazil, of course, will have home support on their side – unfortunately for them they won’t have influential defender and captain Thiago Silva or their main attacking threat, Neymar, on their side – they are ruled out through suspension and injury respectively. But it’s ok, Germany have Mesut Ozil, which evens things up somewhat. The Germans were back to their robotic best in disposing of France, while Brazil produced their best display of the tournament, certainly in the first half as they fought, literally, past the plucky Colombians.
The second semi brings together Argentina and the Netherlands, both of whom have somewhat stuttered through so far. The Dutch needed penalties to find a way past Costa Rica, which will be an obvious concern for LVG as he attempts to plot a way past the Argentinian defence which has kept two clean sheets in a row. If recent form is anything to go, goals may be at a premium here, so it may just be a moment of magic from Lionel Messi, Arjen Robben, Gonzalo Higuain or RvP which settles the tie. Worth noting that Angel Di Maria has been ruled out with injury, but better news of Sergio Aguero, who is expected to have recovered from (his latest) injury in time for the showdown.
I bet Fred thought things couldn’t get any worse when he lost the Golden Boot at the Confederations Cup last year. To Fernando Torres.
D.Luiz on -5 in the Mirror Game hahaha !!!
lol that’s hilarious Jeet! Never did like the bloke!
They’ve started already!!

Right then. How did we all do?
Guess there is a gap between those who Kroosed and those that didn’t.
87 points for me with Oscar as captain on 18 points.
Stick or twist?
Nice one Chins! 79 here which I’m happy with!
85 here.
And still 5 to play without bringing in any subs.
84 now, Kroos has lost 1 point.
chins
83. Neuer as (C) on 22. Stick or Messi ?
Nice GP!
I’d stick on 22 i think. Both teams tomorrow are surely going to focus on tight defence after watching the Brazil game!
Chins,
I have Zabaleta, de Vrij, Sneijder and Messi tomorrow. Think I will keep my Neuer points.
Thanks for the back-up.
A comparatively crap 66!!
chins…
85 so far..
twist mate
71pts with Oscar as Captain, but have Robben, Messi, Mascherano, Sneijder, De Vrij & Rojo potentially tomorrow, Whose going to get the most points then and will they beat 9 ?
Cheers Bigpoopz,
I don’t have messi though, so would have to put my money on Robben or Schneider and other destruction of a south american giant.
It’s actually going to be hard to play everyone on the bench after that crazy german pointsfest.
Who Should I’ve Start SNEIJDER or MASCHERANO ..?
Lol Jeet, basically same question below! No idea!
Soooo…. Pick 3 out of 4 to play –
Mascherano
S(ch)neijder
Messi
Robben
Or rather which 1 sits. Tough aint it?
Mascherano and Robben should play, as neither is dependent upon goals/assists to get points. Hard to choose between Messi and Sneijder though.
Yep agreed on that Tekno, gotta play Messi then surely on potential of goals? He has set plays just as Schnj does so it’s fairly equal apart from his capacity to score at any given moment. Feel sad leaving SJ out though having deliberately selected him!
Sit Sneijder, for me.
Hello NIN, yeah that’s where I’m at too unfortunately.
It depends if your leading or chashing Innit?
If you’re leading Mascherano should get solid block / recovery points, if you’re chasing i might be tempted to take a punt on Sneijder, he hit the wood work twice in the last game and was unlucky in my view not to score a brace.
just my 2 cents
Thanks Photek, I think I have a small lead in the region of about 12 points with 6 to play so still not sure!
Mascherano might be your boy then innit. Tough one, as i think Sneijder on set peices could be dangerous. GL either way mate
Anyway where’s my 2nd Lahm assist gone? Neither pass hit anyone. The 1st was close but didn’t touch Muller. I want my 6 points back, it could be crucial.
There it is! Happy now
