FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GWX
Oh b*llocks, is it?!
Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GWX. No, this isn’t an April Fools Day joke, we are actually publishing a Site Team article! Why? Well, because we meant to do one two weeks ago, and then again last week also, but we didn’t, for reasons which we shall expand on later. Perhaps also it is because we are a bit bored, and simply not used to having a break. But also it is to remind you of a few key FPL related things, which may have slipped your mind, understandably.
We shall however begin with an update of our GW29 performance, at least for some semblence of normality, if nothing else. Looking back at it, into what seems like a lifetime ago now, we evidently got a bit shafted with the DGW postponment having brought in Saka and Aubameyang (as captain) specifically for it, and having held onto KDB too. We’ll spare you the horror story of the rest but other than Salah getting a goal we didn’t have a single other player score above 3 points. And we had some good players, with decent fixtures. When your luck is out and all that… It looks like it meant quite a fall in the rankings too, in fact we managed to double our rank from about 82k to 164,492nd.
Onto the two article titles then..
GWX
No, this wasn’t a typo. It’s more because we have no idea when the season will restart, of course, but also less of an idea how. The fact that FPL Towers decided that we could keep making transfers throughout this ‘hiatus’ seemed to be because they presumed it would restart at a later GW. Which now looks less than likely. What is perhaps now more probable is that (if anything) there will be some sort of crammed in mini-tournament style period of about 6 weeks where they will attempt to finish the season. Re-starting at the GW30 cut-off seems the most likely scenario. How FPL deals with that is another matter, given their above stance. Will they simply reset us and ask us to forget all the interim transfers? Anything is possible. But for now we have been asked to crack on regardless, and so we have…
‘Oh, bollocks’, etc
This is a reference to our lack of a recent article. The reality is that we did intend to do one prior to GW31 and we did indeed have a meeting to discuss our phantomtransfers. Only for someone to point out in the midst of said meeting that the deadline had already passed as it was a Friday night one, and not as we all assumed a normal Saturday one! So that was one transfer down the drain. Not that we feel this will matter particularly, as it looks like we will have more than we can possibly use before proceedings get back under way.
And so we sat down in the middle of last week for another meeting… only to discover half way through that one that it was indeed an International Break, as such, and that there was no planned deadline for another week! Pay more attention, we must. Reinstante the Countdown Timer, we have…
Our GW32 Transfer(s)
Crack on regardles, we do. And we have formulated something of a mini-plan. So we thought we would share this with you, for a lack of anything else to actually say at this moment in time!
Bruno Fernandes seems to be our main missing jigsaw piece right now and so we have decided to prioritise him, along with a whole other raft of minor surgeries which we hope shall put our squad in better shape, should this be required as and when To accommodate Bruno this week we have decided to do away with our double Liverpool defence, an idea that was beginning to be in vogue around about GW29…
Beyond this we are looking at something like Saka to Mount and possibly Ings to DCL, but we shall see.
To confirm then we have SOLD Andy Robertson & James Maddison and BOUGHT Aaron Wan-Bissaka & Bruno Fernandes
Captain – Boris Johnson
Our GWX team in full…

Hi Kralin,
Leicester City have four difficult fixtures to complete so I would be transferring out two players and possibly all three.
Jamie
Is there possibly a new factor to consider here; which players will rise to the (non-) occasion? The one wth no crowd. No idea why but I think Vardy will, and again no idea why but I think Salah may not.
Form is also a lottery. However at the end of the season I would focus on teams with something to play for and dial back on mid table teams.
Stone Frog, do you mean the mid table teams that are trying to avoid relegation and pushing for a Europa place’ i think every team is wanting to win their games,, picking out a player in the team that can realisitaclly give that little extra is the art
Init you touched on something I was trying to get my head around earlier….and that is which teams need an atmosphere to get them going.
I guess Man City are not really one. Everton I would argue need the crowd, would you agree as a Toffeman?
Be interested in people’s thoughts. West Ham at their old ground is a great example, though irrelevant now
Definitely agree on Everton being one of those. We saw that with Big Dunc, I could have put my house on us winning that Chelsea game as I know first hand how they rise to such an atmosphere.
Trying to think of others, Newcastle perhaps, although their atmosphere has been dead in the water for a while! For understandable reasons.
Liverpool is slightly different, it tends to be the other way round there. The players ignite the crowd. Which I guess is symptomatic of having a successful team.
Not sure about Man U, it’s been too long since I visited to comment.
Bournemouth and to a lesser extent Burnley may fall into the Everton category.
Nice barb against City!
I actually thought I may have been losing my marbles when I posted that initially but perhaps not…!
I think another reason why I’m not paying the usual attention to my side is that I don’t believe we will get going again. My side seems a relic from another world.
I really hope we do see it all play out, as unlikely as that seems to me. I imagine though for it to be a success players are going to need to be tested with great frequency – and then what happens if a player is infected? I’m not confident things have been thought through.
My worry is if we were to have a couple of games. When Liverpool clinch the title, the fans will flood to Anfield to celebrate. I can’t see the government risking that.
That’s a good point. And at the very least we will see people watching the games in non-lockdown mode e.g. with a few mates around. And so on. Resuming the league will probably see the first wave of the virus perk up.
France is confirmed off now and Germany seems not far behind. There will be a lot of pressure for EFA to follow suit
To much money involved to cancel the Prem. If cancelled the TV companies want more that £750 million back and the clubs have probably spent their allocation of the TV rights. Only Karen Brady wanted the league to be null and void, thats because WHU could be relegated, she doesn’t want that.
I have to admit to being appalled when the possible return of the Premier League made the news last evening.
Its just wrong on every level, to me.
Fair play to France. Nothing until September.
But as Elle says, its all about money, sadly.
They’ll just have to take the financial hit, like everyone else. I could see the whole thing (resuming the league) becoming hugely divisive.
I can’t see any football being played this side of September.
That’s when the lawsuits will begin.
However not sure what the difference is between BT & Sky paying to televise games and the likes of British Airways & EasyJet paying to use slots at airports.
Agreed Kralin, it would be nice to see Sky etc take the hit. Just not sure its going to be as straightforward as that.
There’s a whisper going around that Sky is planning to sue the virus.
Afternoon all, i’ve got 2fts and 1.4 itb with this lot. I think i’ll not complicate things and do Ings to DCL. Agree ?
Elleffcee,
Would you consider upgrading Button to a playing keeper, against the prospect games get jammed in a few actual gws, and one of them may have to be BB?
Good idea KI. Think i’ll do the DCL move and get a playing keeper at a later date.
Hey Thanks mate. That is actually a very good point. I was wondering what to do with my FT this week. Insightful.
Hi guys any thoughts? 0.4 ITB
A few options. SHU have 1 extra game, so Kiko to Egan or Cantwell to Fleck? Villa also have an extra game, so could do Cantwell to Douglas Luiz and upgrade Button to a 2nd playing keeper?
Thanks Stone Frog! Very wise suggestions.
Been looking at Egan over the last few days on FPL statistics.Weird pricing going on.In the morning he is 12k plus before a price rise and then in the evening he is now 4th place to rise with 779 to go. What is the real position.?
The mayor is right
I’ll be amazed if we get going – as in starting 20/21 – this year.
To our cricketers…
This is really, really good….
Looks great but I don’t have Amazon Prime
Nor me
I meant for the
winnersreal cricketers like Mito notthe losers, you two :fuck:
Cricket would seem a proffesional sport that lends itself naturally to distancing in the workplace. There’s no real need for any of the players to come within 2m of each other. It makes more sense than football if you are going to play anything, although nothing at all would seem wisest.
May not be so good for the bowler’s end umpire. Or silly mid-on and off. Or a tight slip cordon.
The ball has sweat and saliva rubbed into it.
Not so bad for the third umpire.
Already watched. Awesome stuff. Esp. Smith
