Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GWX. No, this isn’t an April Fools Day joke, we are actually publishing a Site Team article! Why? Well, because we meant to do one two weeks ago, and then again last week also, but we didn’t, for reasons which we shall expand on later. Perhaps also it is because we are a bit bored, and simply not used to having a break. But also it is to remind you of a few key FPL related things, which may have slipped your mind, understandably.
We shall however begin with an update of our GW29 performance, at least for some semblence of normality, if nothing else. Looking back at it, into what seems like a lifetime ago now, we evidently got a bit shafted with the DGW postponment having brought in Saka and Aubameyang (as captain) specifically for it, and having held onto KDB too. We’ll spare you the horror story of the rest but other than Salah getting a goal we didn’t have a single other player score above 3 points. And we had some good players, with decent fixtures. When your luck is out and all that… It looks like it meant quite a fall in the rankings too, in fact we managed to double our rank from about 82k to 164,492nd.
Onto the two article titles then..
GWX
No, this wasn’t a typo. It’s more because we have no idea when the season will restart, of course, but also less of an idea how. The fact that FPL Towers decided that we could keep making transfers throughout this ‘hiatus’ seemed to be because they presumed it would restart at a later GW. Which now looks less than likely. What is perhaps now more probable is that (if anything) there will be some sort of crammed in mini-tournament style period of about 6 weeks where they will attempt to finish the season. Re-starting at the GW30 cut-off seems the most likely scenario. How FPL deals with that is another matter, given their above stance. Will they simply reset us and ask us to forget all the interim transfers? Anything is possible. But for now we have been asked to crack on regardless, and so we have…
‘Oh, bollocks’, etc
This is a reference to our lack of a recent article. The reality is that we did intend to do one prior to GW31 and we did indeed have a meeting to discuss our phantomtransfers. Only for someone to point out in the midst of said meeting that the deadline had already passed as it was a Friday night one, and not as we all assumed a normal Saturday one! So that was one transfer down the drain. Not that we feel this will matter particularly, as it looks like we will have more than we can possibly use before proceedings get back under way.
And so we sat down in the middle of last week for another meeting… only to discover half way through that one that it was indeed an International Break, as such, and that there was no planned deadline for another week! Pay more attention, we must. Reinstante the Countdown Timer, we have…
Our GW32 Transfer(s)
Crack on regardles, we do. And we have formulated something of a mini-plan. So we thought we would share this with you, for a lack of anything else to actually say at this moment in time!
Bruno Fernandes seems to be our main missing jigsaw piece right now and so we have decided to prioritise him, along with a whole other raft of minor surgeries which we hope shall put our squad in better shape, should this be required as and when To accommodate Bruno this week we have decided to do away with our double Liverpool defence, an idea that was beginning to be in vogue around about GW29…
Beyond this we are looking at something like Saka to Mount and possibly Ings to DCL, but we shall see.

I’ve been doing some changes for the last 3-4 weeks (just to keep myself entertained). Idk if the PL is coming back at all but still…this is my current team.
Have you been tinkering with your teams?
Did for the first few weeks, likewise with the Site Team, but not touched either since. Not sure if that’s just apathy or not knowing what FPL will decide to do with our game once it resumes.

I’ve gone in every second Friday night and used a transfer so that I didn’t lose it.
All I’ve done is trim the fat on my bench players and not much else. No real noteworthy moves.
I made a transfer the first week in which there were no games. I logged into my team a couple of weeks later and decided I just couldn’t be bothered!
In fairness, I have a love/hate relationship with FPL at the best of times.

I have just for the sake of it really. Thought I might need a decent 12th player for rotation reasons so got Cantwell back in. I’m looking for some differentials because of rank. So I have Abraham, looking at Martial and Kane as well. Considering Aguero and just sticking the armband on him for rest of season but not sure

Looks very interesting Constantine -but I see they haven’t included the new ‘Fishin’ Chip’, which allows you to go hunting for a replacement player mid-season, to replace an injured player (to take the ‘Plaice’ of someone else). Hmm, is it true, or is it just a load of ‘codswallop’???
Hope you are okay over there in India. I’ve withdrawn into myself a lot (self-protection!) whilst being locked down for over 7 weeks now – a bit like the national symbol over here (the snail or ‘escargot’ ) Nothing like retiring to a supposedly ‘crush-proof’ carapace and pretend that no-one can see you!

Although I did watch ‘The English Game’ on Nitflecks, while on the exercise machine at home (I feel like a ruddy hamster!). The Plague by Camus is well worth a look. A really great novel.
For those after something more demented, why not The Stand by Stephen King?
Yes Camus’ novel deals really well with the psychosis of such situations.

Bruno and KDB are the standout midfielders in the league.
Wouldn’t argue with Henderson in there even if Ndidi is better.
Not sure Soyuncu should be there – in all honesty Gomez is probably justified to be alongside VVD.
I’d agree that he (Bruno) is clearly one of the best mids in the league. Not sure he can make ‘team of the season’ though given his lack of actual games in said season.

I would have Evans over Soyuncu and Vardy instead of Aguero. Probably Ndidi over Bruno who really should not be there having played just 5 games. I’m a bit baffled by all this Henderson talk for player of the year. I guess it really has been a pretty poor year for quality
You’re doing Henderson a serious injustice. Liverpool struggle when he’s not in the team.
Not really he’s an important player in the Liverpool midfield for what he does and can do but being the best player in the premier league this season Is something very different. I think not.
Plus I did select him in team it’s just player of the year I’m not having
I’d have him as Liverpool’s player of the season.
I disagree I think VVD, Salah, Mane and probably TAA are more valuable. I get it he does the running and is the engine of the team and he’s had a good season but I believe another player could have potentially done that role.
I’m not the only Liverpool fan to hold that opinion. In fact, I’d go as far as saying that the majority do.
I’m far from a Liverpool fan I must admit. For me Alison is probably the best keeper in the world, TAA is one of the best right backs in the world, Robbo is maybe the best LB in the world with VVD being the best defender. the front three is right up there Salah and Mane would get in any team in the world. Could you replace Henderson yeah I’d say so and has Henderson won Liverpool the league not really. He supports the team and is a great player in and around the club but he don’t get in most of the elite clubs teams. If you asked a Madrid fan what Liverpool player would you take they would not say Henderson . I mean he’s loved by the fans for his attitude and work ethic I get it but that don’t win league titles for me
He’s been their best player this season. I’m not his biggest fan but he’s driven them on this year and he’s certainly winning me round.
If it wasn’t for the fact i’d want 3 different Liverpool players in my FPL team, at 5.3 with 3 goals,5 assists and 14 cs’s, i would quite happily have him as my 5th mid, i used Emre Can the same way a few years back and got some nice surprises from him every now and then. :good:
