Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GWX. No, this isn’t an April Fools Day joke, we are actually publishing a Site Team article! Why? Well, because we meant to do one two weeks ago, and then again last week also, but we didn’t, for reasons which we shall expand on later. Perhaps also it is because we are a bit bored, and simply not used to having a break. But also it is to remind you of a few key FPL related things, which may have slipped your mind, understandably.
We shall however begin with an update of our GW29 performance, at least for some semblence of normality, if nothing else. Looking back at it, into what seems like a lifetime ago now, we evidently got a bit shafted with the DGW postponment having brought in Saka and Aubameyang (as captain) specifically for it, and having held onto KDB too. We’ll spare you the horror story of the rest but other than Salah getting a goal we didn’t have a single other player score above 3 points. And we had some good players, with decent fixtures. When your luck is out and all that… It looks like it meant quite a fall in the rankings too, in fact we managed to double our rank from about 82k to 164,492nd.
Onto the two article titles then..
GWX
No, this wasn’t a typo. It’s more because we have no idea when the season will restart, of course, but also less of an idea how. The fact that FPL Towers decided that we could keep making transfers throughout this ‘hiatus’ seemed to be because they presumed it would restart at a later GW. Which now looks less than likely. What is perhaps now more probable is that (if anything) there will be some sort of crammed in mini-tournament style period of about 6 weeks where they will attempt to finish the season. Re-starting at the GW30 cut-off seems the most likely scenario. How FPL deals with that is another matter, given their above stance. Will they simply reset us and ask us to forget all the interim transfers? Anything is possible. But for now we have been asked to crack on regardless, and so we have…
‘Oh, bollocks’, etc
This is a reference to our lack of a recent article. The reality is that we did intend to do one prior to GW31 and we did indeed have a meeting to discuss our phantomtransfers. Only for someone to point out in the midst of said meeting that the deadline had already passed as it was a Friday night one, and not as we all assumed a normal Saturday one! So that was one transfer down the drain. Not that we feel this will matter particularly, as it looks like we will have more than we can possibly use before proceedings get back under way.
And so we sat down in the middle of last week for another meeting… only to discover half way through that one that it was indeed an International Break, as such, and that there was no planned deadline for another week! Pay more attention, we must. Reinstante the Countdown Timer, we have…
Our GW32 Transfer(s)
Crack on regardles, we do. And we have formulated something of a mini-plan. So we thought we would share this with you, for a lack of anything else to actually say at this moment in time!
Bruno Fernandes seems to be our main missing jigsaw piece right now and so we have decided to prioritise him, along with a whole other raft of minor surgeries which we hope shall put our squad in better shape, should this be required as and when To accommodate Bruno this week we have decided to do away with our double Liverpool defence, an idea that was beginning to be in vogue around about GW29…
Beyond this we are looking at something like Saka to Mount and possibly Ings to DCL, but we shall see.

I don’t think they have a place where to set the starting week. I have looked around and saw some of the mls guys who are playing it also wondering. I forgot to play it several times and then just gave it up, was doing well last season and this until my screw ups and then just got mad and ignored it.

**Fantasy Bundesliga GW Winner**

Heres my 1st effort.
Who is on your bench Elle? In this game it matters a hell of a lot as this is like UCL fantasy. You can replace players after you see their scores for players that haven’t, same goes for the captain.
Well, they all likely start so that’s good.
Davies plays left back so he is a reverse oop, he is on a really good team and relatively cheap so I might be inclined to keep him. Gunter is a nice attacking threat, plays wing back and is over corners and FKs. Lenz is a cheap option and considering your budget, I don’t disagree. Harit is a bit up and down and plays in a derby this weekend, although Dortmund is not exactly the toughest defence and they are missing several starting players this weekend.
That front line is stacked. No arguing against Timo or Haaland, I be tempted to work out a way to get a third big hitter at striker or midfield.
There are two 1 million keepers (Kastenmeier from Dusseldorf and Schubert from Schalke) set to start this weekend and considering that keepers don’t really matter as much, I be tempted to just live with whatever the cheap keepers give me and pump that cash into my attack or a high scoring defender.
One thing worth mentioning, your two Frankfurt players Kostic and Hinteregger are good players but their fixtures are not ideal, doesn’t mean they can’t produce just makes it less likely. They face M’Glad this week who is fourth, then Bayern away next Gw and then two stingy mid table teams in Freiburg and Wolfsburg.

Mito, as a matter of interest who are your 2 keepers ?
@Elle, I will likely go with the two options I mentioned. Schubert is the safer bet as Nubel the other keeper is moving away from the club at the end of the season and I believe the manager said something about playing Schubert the rest of the way before covid hit. Kastenmeier probably has 2-3 games in him before Dusseldorf’s starter gets back, but if Schubert is playing I won’t be bothered. Horn from Koln is a cheapish option if you want a little more safety. I am considering going Horn and Schubert just to be safer, but I am likely to stick with the two real cheap options if my past is anything to go by, I prefer to have the money to spend on the field players and have always been willing to sacrifice some points at the keeper position. Certainly can never see myself paying for a premium keeper.

Hi Matt. Yep, I realised that too and and it will need some reshuffling. After all, most of us are newbies to that, except our own Bundes Expert Mito who has been a great guide :yes:
I understand the fantasy game and have some good follows on twitter and sites that talk about expected line-ups and so on, but a Bundesliga expert I am not. To be honest, I for the most part only watch La Liga and Champions League, occasionally I sneak in some PL. Have played fantasy Bundesliga for parts of two seasons now, so have been accustomed to some of the teams and players via fantasy. Remember last season GW1 (my first time playing) I couldn’t keep the teams straight. Someone recommend a player and I could not for the life of me figure out the name they said and couldn’t find them on the site unless they specifically said the team/position and price. Even now I don’t understand certain names, but now I know to have expected line-ups as I listen so I can immediately pick out who they are talking about. :mosking:
@Ivan, Love that front line, thinking mine will be similar, just comes down to which striker I end up leaving out as I want Timo also.
Sancho will be in my side also and I suspect Gnabry. Dahmoud is not likely to start and Zaga is injured last I heard, so pretty sure he won’t, unless you read different. Jakobs is a 50/50 to start at best. Amiri is also iffy to start, he could, problem I have with him is that he plays in the last game so if he doesn’t start you just lost over 12 million. I probably leave him there as a placeholder and when the team sheets come out for the first five games, I look to pick someone up from one of those 10 teams instead just to be on the safe side.
Ivan this is a bit like UCL. You can change your captains and substitute out if you don’t like the result. And you can do it during the same day, don’t have to wait for the next day. So if you have a player playing at 10 you can substitute him or change the captaincy to a player playing at 12 on the same day.
I won’t say much about your bench as I haven’t even heard of two of them. 😀 but my guess is you got them in there to save money and considering your attacking side of the team, it could well payoff.

@Mito – Question for our resident Bundesliga expert. If I bench Havertz till he actually plays can I still change him to one of my ‘star players’? or do they have to be in the team at the start?
Yes. he can become your star player once you get him in the XI, doesn’t matter if he is not in the original XI.
