Oh b*llocks, is it?!
Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GWX. No, this isn’t an April Fools Day joke, we are actually publishing a Site Team article! Why? Well, because we meant to do one two weeks ago, and then again last week also, but we didn’t, for reasons which we shall expand on later. Perhaps also it is because we are a bit bored, and simply not used to having a break. But also it is to remind you of a few key FPL related things, which may have slipped your mind, understandably.
We shall however begin with an update of our GW29 performance, at least for some semblence of normality, if nothing else. Looking back at it, into what seems like a lifetime ago now, we evidently got a bit shafted with the DGW postponment having brought in Saka and Aubameyang (as captain) specifically for it, and having held onto KDB too. We’ll spare you the horror story of the rest but other than Salah getting a goal we didn’t have a single other player score above 3 points. And we had some good players, with decent fixtures. When your luck is out and all that… It looks like it meant quite a fall in the rankings too, in fact we managed to double our rank from about 82k to 164,492nd.
Onto the two article titles then..
GWX
No, this wasn’t a typo. It’s more because we have no idea when the season will restart, of course, but also less of an idea how. The fact that FPL Towers decided that we could keep making transfers throughout this ‘hiatus’ seemed to be because they presumed it would restart at a later GW. Which now looks less than likely. What is perhaps now more probable is that (if anything) there will be some sort of crammed in mini-tournament style period of about 6 weeks where they will attempt to finish the season. Re-starting at the GW30 cut-off seems the most likely scenario. How FPL deals with that is another matter, given their above stance. Will they simply reset us and ask us to forget all the interim transfers? Anything is possible. But for now we have been asked to crack on regardless, and so we have…
‘Oh, bollocks’, etc
This is a reference to our lack of a recent article. The reality is that we did intend to do one prior to GW31 and we did indeed have a meeting to discuss our phantomtransfers. Only for someone to point out in the midst of said meeting that the deadline had already passed as it was a Friday night one, and not as we all assumed a normal Saturday one! So that was one transfer down the drain. Not that we feel this will matter particularly, as it looks like we will have more than we can possibly use before proceedings get back under way.
And so we sat down in the middle of last week for another meeting… only to discover half way through that one that it was indeed an International Break, as such, and that there was no planned deadline for another week! Pay more attention, we must. Reinstante the Countdown Timer, we have…
Our GW32 Transfer(s)
Crack on regardles, we do. And we have formulated something of a mini-plan. So we thought we would share this with you, for a lack of anything else to actually say at this moment in time!
Bruno Fernandes seems to be our main missing jigsaw piece right now and so we have decided to prioritise him, along with a whole other raft of minor surgeries which we hope shall put our squad in better shape, should this be required as and when To accommodate Bruno this week we have decided to do away with our double Liverpool defence, an idea that was beginning to be in vogue around about GW29…
Beyond this we are looking at something like Saka to Mount and possibly Ings to DCL, but we shall see.

Think it was Goretzka that was brought down, not sure that is scored an assist, Perhaps a penalty earned?
Do you think that German football returning before other countries will give Bayern an advantage in Europe? That’s obviously assuming that the CL returns later this year.
@Kop, you would think so, but not sure. They should be in better rhythm but assuming the others are a month in or so, they should be ok by then. Could be that they have the Bundesliga sewn up by then and can target CL, but some of the others like City might not need their starters in their respective leagues as their spots might be secured by then also. So not sure it is a big advantage, perhaps over La Liga teams it would be as Barca and Madrid (unlikely anyway)are fighting for the league while Atletico is one point out of 4th.
That last sentence is a big assumption. Can you see it, because I can’t right now.
No, I can’t see it happening either. I read something yesterday which outlined how UEFA want to complete their competitions in August. Hence my original comment.

Looks like a little contract trouble although the manager tries to deflect a bit. Based on the performance they gave yesterday I would think he is not jumping right back in next game.

First week, so we kind of struggled with the picks. I somehow quickly made a team, still do not know all the starters of teams except the big ones.
Just behind you with 101 points. If I kept the stars on Haaland and Kainz would have had 10 more but hey ho, happy as a newbie :yes:

Not at all, I’m all out on 100. Took some chances with the Capos which didn’t work out but lessons have been learned and I’ve seen a good deal of the players and teams play live now for the first time which helps inform future decisions.

I’m way down at 12 on 79 points but that’s having used only 1 star player so 36 from Wendell and Havertz is not impossible

It’s possible, Havertz in particular can drop a 20. Thing is if anyone else has a Leverkusen player though, will be tough.
Btw, why did you not use STAR players in earlier matches? You can change them for later matches if you want.
E.g. I chose Kainz at 2:30pm match (got 18), then changed to Gnabry at 5pm match (got 15). Effectively, I lost 3 pts., but sometimes you will also gain.

I have Havertz, but I’m not in the running I wound think, not enough pts.
I made a mistake of not noticing the timing of Bayern Match and missed to pick a Bayern defender. This shows the lack of conditioning of my brain to play fantasy game. I need a pre-season in isolation.
Overall it has been fun. As they say, beggars can’t be choosers . I am considering playing it next season alongside FPL

Of course you will survive mosc. It’s not a bad game. Have a look and join. It’s all like a bit of experiment and exercise for most of us. Kind of practise to get the hang of it. Give it a go.
I set up a team & it netted 83 pts, so far, with Havertz still to go as a Star. It plays a bit different than FPL, but I imagine I adapt to it with the rules.
Oh OK, quite a few have gone with new team names and didn’t recognise you. Let’s see how it goes with this trial

Mosc, got you. You were doing very badly on the first day but pulled quite well on the second. Oh well, it will take a while to perfect it but it’s a good fun for now. Who knows, this time next year we could be doing better than the Fritz 😀
Yes, the Bayern big hitter pulled me up the ranks. Just have to get used to the differences in formats.
