league-codes-banner-002

Welcome to our mid-month FantasyFootball 247 Leagues round-up.
Most of us initially will have got into fantasy football through work or friends leagues. Nothing wrong with that, but to really challenge yourself, how about you test your mettle against other Fantasy Football 247 regulars?
Season and Monthly League winners will be awarded a place in our Hall Of Fame – more on that to follow!

The Overall Members League (full season)
With a solid 85 points, Barntons Bashers retain their top position in the main league after GW16. Holding a global ranking of 1,473 and with 1,078 points, they are having a great season, and we are glad to have them setting the bar in our league. Herewegoagain are close behind having moved up to second spot with 1,074 points, and only a further 2 points back, third spot is occupied by Shane-PAIN FC on 1,072 points. New entrant, Robin Van Pricey, are straight in at fourth spot with 1,068 pts, having delivered an impressive 97 points this game week – the highest score of this week’s top 10. James101 make up the top 5, with 1,062 points.

A mere 14 points behind are a 3 man chasing pack, containing second season wonder Michu’s Grassy Ass, and two very experienced managers, Powerful Potty Fc and Cookie’s Monsters, all on 1,048 points. Site regular, Milk and Busquets, follows 4 points off, on 1,044 points, with Norfulk-in-chance closing out our top ten on 1,039. Other notable movers this week include the perhaps misnamed duo, Not so SPECIAL ones and Real Morbid, who both managed to score 103 points, almost double the game-week average of 55 points, moving up to 24th and 31st spots respectively. And no, no Potty Prizes will be awarded for guessing who they captained!

The Monthly League
In top spot at the mid-month point is X Treme, on a very impressive 275 points for the month, including 91 for this game-week. The team’s overall ranking isn’t so high as yet, but with this kind of performance and a team value of £110m we feel that’s going to change fast. In second spot, on 268 points for the month are The Untouchables. Falling to third spot, but only 5 points behind, Killer instincts delivered 263 points in December to date. In fourth spot, on 261 points, are our season league leaders, Barntons Bashers, and Real Morbid rise to fifth on 254 points, lifted by their outstanding game-week.

The Greatest FC enter our rankings at 6, narrowly missing out on a ton, scoring 99 points (unlucky!). In 7th spot this month is James101, with Pimp my Side in eighth spot, at 247 points. Closing out our top ten are Inter ma’nan and Monkeys Nuts.

Many thanks to elleffcee for working out the monthly table – you may notice a slight difference in a couple of the rankings, this is because the monthly charts that are automatically generated do not take all hits into account – clearly these should be factored in to show who’s really performing best.

Can I have an opinion please:

    Mignolet (Marshall)
    Coleman, Distin, Ridgewell (Dawson, Rosenior)
    Ramsey, Hazard, Yaya, Lallana (Morrison)
    Negredo, Suarez, Lukaku

I had to use the FT for Aguero – Negredo

Worth a hit for Lallana – Silva or Walcott

If I go silva I will have 3 Man C Vs Fulham and then Yaya – Walcott next GW

    Other suggestions welcome

    Thanks

Rip-I dont feel Im qualified in my current state of mind. However, we ALL love hits I dont deny it. Im considering a hit hazard-walcott. City might not get that many against fulham away. If it was etihad then maybe. Why not just go walcott this week an silva next?
Ps. I am aware of the non advice bit….huff

      • Ripcurl82 says:

I will do Walcott and and Keep Yaya until Jan WC

Then I can spend the next couple of weeks working on the Defence.

    Demsie says:

Somehow managed to make myself a -12 hit last night on my iPhone app making 4 changes. I feel absolutely gutted. Have emailed FPL who did me the courtesy of replying, however they won’t cancel them.

So i’m stuck with an unwanted -12 hit and and 100k drop in ratings and even more ground lost in my mini league.. Now standing at 130 points behind.

Does anyone have anything nice to say to try to cheer me up ?

      James101 says:

Assuming you hit around 2400 for the season, your 12 pt hit is only around 0.5%.

      • Demsie says:

Cheers James, I don’t think I’ll get around that number though ? be lucky to break the 2k mark at this rate.

        My new team is this:

        Gazzaniga Davis
Dawson Ben Turner Ridgewell Vlaar Chico
        Walcott Mirallas Hazard Silva Ravel
        Negredo Suarez Rooney

Got rid of Ramsey & Fer (that I wanted to keep for now) & Lallana who I wanted gone anyway.

        What do you think ?

        • Demsie says:

Ha. Mito ! I’ve tried ! There’s no way I wanted these transfers this week. They weren’t even polite about the response either. Just said: Not on your nelly sunshine. All transfers are final once confirmed – Idiot.

Granted, I must have done it by falling asleep or scratching my arse with the phone but god, have some leniency ! This is important shit.

Honestly Mito. What do you think to my team.. ? I think it looks ok on paper (as it were but when you look at where some players have come from i don’t like my chances.. This is all before we start even thinking about the -12 implication.

        • Demsie, the team from an attacking point of view does look very good. The defence is a bit shaky, but just about all defences are shaky right now. It is hard to gauge where to invest your money in the back, since clean sheets have gotten very unpredictable again, unlike the start of the season where Everton, Saints and Spurs were easy points.

        • James101 says:

Ok. Still less than 1% so don’t fret it mate.

I never picked up fer, not convinced as yet, so no issue there IMO.

Ramsey is pretty awesome and I’m holding him still. That said, them is a stud too, and could score big numbers for you, so it’s totally defendable switch – points hit aside.

I may grab the oat some point soon, but wanted to switch out kun first. Priorities

The rest of your team contains solid attacking options.

I’d look at my keepers if I were you when I got a min. But again, not for a hit.

…and how’s Dawson working our for you?

        • James101 says:

Ok. I should probably read as I type.

Them / the oat = theo!

        • Demsie says:

Ok James, cheers for the input.

Dawson is utter turd for me lately tbh.. Had him from the start when Spurs were defensively excellent but just haven’t got round to shipping him out. I had originally planned to swap him for Coleman this week but then Kun got injured and that took priority.

There’s always something that turns up, right ? Nature of the game.

Keepers i’m sorting with my Jan WC and i’ll do the rest of my defence then too.. If needed. Got to get over this little set back first !

        • James101 says:

          No worries.

Problems to popular players are good news.

They create trouble for all teams, we have data and insight to allow us to react better.

Honestly, a red card to Suarez could help me more than hurt me in terms of ranking.

      • Eddy says:

James, if Demsie hits 2400 there’s a good chance he’ll be in the top 100 managers. Unfortunately Demsie with cup qualification in gw 17 you are giving your oppo a possible 12 point headstart. I hope it doesnt effect your chances.

    Raziel says:

    Rate my team pretty please?

    Guzan – McGregor
    Clyne – Terry – Turner – Vlaar – Coleman
    Silva – Ramsey – Ravel – Brady – Hazard
Rooney (wanted to write Kun) – Suarez – Lukaku

Had to take a hit, replaced Kos with Coleman and Kun with Rooney. Could’ve taken a double hit and replaced Ramsey with Wally and Kun with Negredo. Will get Wally after the Chelsea clash.

    NIN says:

Anyone mind taking a look at this squad,it’s not my current one,i’m toying with the idea of moving to a 3-5-2 in the new year, while JWC is active,i haven’t tried too much to balance this squad,it’s just to get a general idea of what is possible..here we go..i’m interested in any opinions from anyone yeah.

    Szczesny
    Coleman-Walker-Shaw
    Walcott-Mirallas-Silva-Hazard-Ramsey
    Suarez-Negredo

    McGregor-Chamakh-Debuchy-Ward

Again this is just a rough draft, personally i think that with a bit more tweaking it would be very nice indeedio..cheers folks.

      NIN says:

      Suarez(c) forever obviously.

      • Done my transfer Nin Aguero out and Negredo in now to sit back a hope he isn’t on the bench.lol

      • NIN says:

Eddy/flingy – Any input on this formation change i’m considering?? The squad i have there would be changed for sure,i just threw a the likes of Walker in there to see what’s possible..interested to hear thoughts on this..i’m strongly considering it,cheers.

        • flingy says:

Midfielders score an extra point for a goal, and get a point for a clean sheet (not that attacking mids really contribute). I was looking at doing some statistics on formations, and the potential if you get it right, but I just haven’t had the time.
How about swapping Ramsey to Cabaye, then look if you can do something like Walker to Dawson (if you want Spurs defence) and you could possibly upgrade Negredo. I’m not sure of the prices of other forwards though.

        • NIN says:

flingy – That would be great if you could do that, very time consuming though so it’s understandable if it doesn’t happen.I actually don’t want a Spurs defender,i just threw Walker in there to spread funds a bit to see what can be done, final squad would look something similar to the above, but with Walker as a budget and Negredo > Rooney, there would be a few bob left to change the defence a tad and avoid doubling up on Palace.I couldn’t bring myself to lose Ramsey though haha,to be honest flingy..i want both him and Walcott which is where i started thinking about 3-5-2,i’m thinking Suarez&Rooney will be enough up top and have a monster midfield, without having accurate stats do you think that this would be better than the standard 3-4-3 with the usual suspects up top? Cheers flingy.

      chopper2540 says:

      Walker?Can you get Zab?

      • NIN says:

chopper2540 – Yeah i could,i just threw Walker in there as a guide to price range possibilities, Walker could be downgraded to release funds for other upgrades,it’s just a rough idea of a squad,i haven’t even taken the fixture list into account…

      • Agreed Zabs is a good shout with current form.

      • NIN says:

Walker&Negredo could become Rooney&4.5m defender…looks better to be fair, this is very tempting, anyone think it’s a better system than 3-4-3?? Even running a similar squad to this for a month,if it doesn’t work then a simple 2FT move will revert it back to 3-4-3 with 3 powerhouse forwards..very interesting.

      Albertini says:

NIN – Looks interesting as an alternative to the striker force of SAR. Don’t know if in terms of fpl points would be better or worse, it could be interesting to see until now how both options would have score.

      • NIN says:

Albertini – Cheers mate, yeah it would be very interesting to see a comparison,i’ve done a bit of tinkering and improved the squad i posted,i’m really thinking this could be my new year plan,is there really a need for another forward when you have say Suarez and Rooney?? Wally is cheaper than Negredo and only slightly dearer than Lukaku, and is much better in FPL than both of those, also keeping Ramsey is great i think,as many will sell for Wally,i actually think my defence would be better this way too..and my keepers, sigh…….why do i get these ideas haha.
