FF247 League Updates GW22 FPL Fantasy Premier League
Welcome to our FantasyFootball 247 mid-month Leagues round up for January!
Writing this from the side of a rooftop pool in southern central India, I am brought to mind the words of Mahatma Gandhi “Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth”. So hold fast to your convictions ladies and gents, and stay your course, as you fight your way up the league rankings.
The Season League
The festive season is now but a distant memory, though the dark winter nights remain – perhaps more for some managers than others… Wildcards have been played, some profitably, others with more than a few retrospective regrets, and even the occasional cry of “Why Always Me?!” So where has this merry dance left us?
Well, as reliable as Stevie G’s returns, Barntons Bashers hold on to their lead at the top of the league, with 1,486 points, moving a further 9 places forward in the main game to a fantastic number 53 in the overall rankings! What’s interesting is that B-Bash has just played his wildcard (active this week), so we are wondering what that will do to his position over the coming game weeks. In second spot, James101 continues to work his way up the global rankings, moving to 628 overall, up from the mid-900’s last time round. FF247 have recently published interviews with both these managers, to gain what insight we can from their differing approaches.
The knights of ni have moved up two to third spot, with a very impressive 1,435 points, pushing our own Cookie back one place to fourth – a mere 2 points separate these two now, so we will watch developments with interest. Herewegoagain move two places up to fifth spot, on 1,420, followed closely behind by Peps Packers, also up two. Catch me if you Kun are another riser, in at seventh, with all these risers pushing Robin Van Pricey down from fourth to eighth. New entrant Dhula United storm into the top ten with an excellent 70 points for the week, with JTFC moving up one spot from eleventh to tenth, edging out last month’s number 6, Shane-PAIN FC, by just 3 points. In short, it remains pretty close!
The Monthly League
A new month, and a new Monthly League leader, with The Expendables returning an excellent 209 points for the first 3 game weeks; 84 points in this game week alone, a score with a weekly global ranking of 4,000, well done! A single point behind (after hits are factored in), Bocadillo Allstars are in second spot on 208 points for the month and it looks like being a real tussle between those two over the next couple of game weeks. That said, our joint third placed teams, fc sanchez and fc tom tomsk are both easily within fighting distance, on 200 points. Serendipity United (last month’s 5th ranked team) and cola toure hold joint fifth at this stage, 3 points back on 197.
The wonderfully named (if you like your movies) White Boys Day move into seventh spot this week, sharing it ominously with Barntons Bashers, our winner last month. One point further back in ninth are inter ma’nan, who placed tenth last month. Making up our top ten are two teams; creative name team and underdogs, both on 193 points. So the spread between the top ten teams is a mere 16 points, nothing really over a game week, let alone more. Everything still to play for in our opinion!
Many thanks as always to elleffcee for verifying the monthly table – you may notice a slight difference in a couple of the rankings, this is because the monthly charts that are automatically generated do not take all hits into account – clearly these should be factored in to show who’s really performing best.

Nice write ups James and Cookie. Great interview. Interesting contrasting views to hits.
Anyone care to rate my squad and suggest transfers over the next few weeks?
Marshall (Mannone)
Dawson, Merte, Clyne,(Chester,Ward)
Silva, Lallana, Cabaye, Hazard, (Canas)
Aguero, Suarez, Lukaku
0FT, 2.9 in bank
thanks
Wow, you have so much money in the bank.
See how Clyne vs Chambers rivalry works out for the RB spot, and consider it your priority.
Also, Cabaye faces Chelsea and Spurs after 2GWs, so keep an eye on the fixtures.
thanks The B – I sold Ozil for Cabaye – that’s where the money is coming from.
I was thinking Evans in for Clyne if he doesn’t start the next day.
whats your thoughts on that one? Also looking at Mata for Lallana potentially also.
Evans is a good shout.
Dont fancy Lallana and Mata swap to be honest, Lallana has been doing great recently, and is consistent. With upcoming SOTON’s fixtures, dont think dropping Lallana is wise. After Arsenal, Lallana has 4 tasty fixtures where we can expect goals/assists from him.
The B – who would you swap out for Mata so if anyone
Silva or Cabaye.
If you bring in Mata in place of Lallana, you will have 4 players in GW28 who wont play (Aguero, Silva, Mata, Mannone.)
whats goin on in GW 28?
Blank GW28 for WB, Sunderland, City and ManUtd.
Thats what im hearing.
No need to take a hit this week, but in coming GWs you should sell Lukaku and Canas, and maybe find a way to bring in Mata (as you have no other Man Utd coverage)
Thanks Veer. Whats your thoughts on going SAS up front?
Ya looking at the Mata move. Canas is just cheap non playing at the moment
Dreamers…
Nice team….what you got planned with all that cash in the bank..?
Can’t find any holes in your team..!
But with all dat cash you could go upmarket a bit on Lallana & or Cabaye….maybe Ozil / Cazorla / Mata / Gerrard..etc
Or drop Lukaku ..who’s not on form at the mo’…poss… Eto / Sturridge / Giroud /
Bigpopz – pretty undecided at the moment – just Ozil was doing my head in and Cabaye was rising.
could switch out Marshall for a keeper towards the top of league as the top teams should tighten up at the back. Could go Baines (haven’t studied the fixtures).
Could go Mata
Could try mad thought to go SAR – Suarez, Aguero, RVP
RMT?
0 FT and 0.5M in the bank.
Mannone
Kosc – *Coleman* – Olsson
Lallana – *Silva* – Hazard – Cabaye
Giroud – Aguero – Suarez
Bench: Marshall – Noone – Clyne – Chester
Hi The B
Im guessing you don’t want to take a hit so in terms of the first team I think you have it right.
Olsson is prob not ideal but Villa away from home might actually be more threatening.
Do you plan to hold Giroud long term? he frustrates me. Great hold up play but doesn’t score enough.
nice team
Olsson is the one from Norwich He plays Newcastle at home and Norwich has been decent at home lately, so minor chances of CS.
Im holing Giroud for only a couple of GWs after which ill probably bring in Adebayor/Bony/Carrol (undecided yet, havent seen fixtures of those three)
Thanks
benteke in the reckoning at all?
Yes! Actually open to all strikers for the third spot, have 2GWs to decide which one will fill my third spot based on coming fixtures and form.
And Villa has a good run of fixtures.
Olsson Clean Sheet 6 + Cabaye 2 PTS = 8 PTS !!
Id prefer a Cabaye hattrick and a 0 from Olsson.
B….
What’s wiv the new Grav..?
Dosent feel like the same “B” without that trademark Grav…!
Anyway to be honest your side is good…safe…no real suprises in there..?
Your gunna have a high percentage of your rivals with much the same team..?
My team has the same feel….so personally I’m looking for some differentials…..like Azpil / Navas / probley Eto ….?
Don’t get me wrong you got a great team…only thing it’s the same as everyone else’s…
Do something crazy ..like drop Giroud for Eto..?
The Aguero transfer didnt allow me to get Bony this GW
Going from Silva>Mata probably next GW after i see how Mata does. And cant really drop Giroud after his “bench goal” last night. He’ll stay for 2GWs in my team max.
Bigpopz i dont feel like myself with this new grav. I feel like a wise chap recently, its actually Berbs if you notice.
I need to change it soon!!!!
Can I please get a RMT 1FT 1.9 Bank
Mannone (Szczesny)
Mertesacker-Terry-Ward (Coleman-Chester)
Wiltshire-Silva-Hazard-Lallana (Colback)
Ade-Aguero-Suarez
I am thinking Silva – Cabaye until the Chelsea game and then get Yaya or Mata
Adebayor – Bony Swansea have some good fixtures
Some good differentials and I am 20 points ahead in my mini league so don’t mind points hits or taking decent risks.
Thanks
If you bring in Mata for Cabaye after the Chelsea game, you will have Mata who will face Arsenal, CPL and a blank GW in a row.
Doesnt look like a wise decision to play Mata against a strong Arsenal defence, then play him against CPL and then bench him (possible blank GW for ManUtd i think).
I like the Bony move.
B, you will get 5 games from mata before a blank week.
Silva>Cabaye until Chelsea game = Cabaye played against Norwich and Sunderland.
Cabaye>Mata = Mata played against Fulham, Arsenal, CPL and blank GW28.
I think thats what Ripcurl is planning.
B, oakeydoakey.
B, don’t forget, the 4 teams not playing in gw 28 at the moment may still play in that gw if the games are moved to the midweek.
Or Yaya Toure
Is it just me or has Everyone Got these 5 players I’ve think I need some Differentials !
Lallana – Hazard – Silva
Aguero – Suarez
Silva only at 6% ownership.
They All Probably Got THE BEAST Yaya Toure !!!
When do double game weeks start appearing?.
Nothing confirmed yet.
