FF247 League Updates GW22 FPL Fantasy Premier League
Welcome to our FantasyFootball 247 mid-month Leagues round up for January!
Writing this from the side of a rooftop pool in southern central India, I am brought to mind the words of Mahatma Gandhi “Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth”. So hold fast to your convictions ladies and gents, and stay your course, as you fight your way up the league rankings.
The Season League
The festive season is now but a distant memory, though the dark winter nights remain – perhaps more for some managers than others… Wildcards have been played, some profitably, others with more than a few retrospective regrets, and even the occasional cry of “Why Always Me?!” So where has this merry dance left us?
Well, as reliable as Stevie G’s returns, Barntons Bashers hold on to their lead at the top of the league, with 1,486 points, moving a further 9 places forward in the main game to a fantastic number 53 in the overall rankings! What’s interesting is that B-Bash has just played his wildcard (active this week), so we are wondering what that will do to his position over the coming game weeks. In second spot, James101 continues to work his way up the global rankings, moving to 628 overall, up from the mid-900’s last time round. FF247 have recently published interviews with both these managers, to gain what insight we can from their differing approaches.
The knights of ni have moved up two to third spot, with a very impressive 1,435 points, pushing our own Cookie back one place to fourth – a mere 2 points separate these two now, so we will watch developments with interest. Herewegoagain move two places up to fifth spot, on 1,420, followed closely behind by Peps Packers, also up two. Catch me if you Kun are another riser, in at seventh, with all these risers pushing Robin Van Pricey down from fourth to eighth. New entrant Dhula United storm into the top ten with an excellent 70 points for the week, with JTFC moving up one spot from eleventh to tenth, edging out last month’s number 6, Shane-PAIN FC, by just 3 points. In short, it remains pretty close!
The Monthly League
A new month, and a new Monthly League leader, with The Expendables returning an excellent 209 points for the first 3 game weeks; 84 points in this game week alone, a score with a weekly global ranking of 4,000, well done! A single point behind (after hits are factored in), Bocadillo Allstars are in second spot on 208 points for the month and it looks like being a real tussle between those two over the next couple of game weeks. That said, our joint third placed teams, fc sanchez and fc tom tomsk are both easily within fighting distance, on 200 points. Serendipity United (last month’s 5th ranked team) and cola toure hold joint fifth at this stage, 3 points back on 197.
The wonderfully named (if you like your movies) White Boys Day move into seventh spot this week, sharing it ominously with Barntons Bashers, our winner last month. One point further back in ninth are inter ma’nan, who placed tenth last month. Making up our top ten are two teams; creative name team and underdogs, both on 193 points. So the spread between the top ten teams is a mere 16 points, nothing really over a game week, let alone more. Everything still to play for in our opinion!
Many thanks as always to elleffcee for verifying the monthly table – you may notice a slight difference in a couple of the rankings, this is because the monthly charts that are automatically generated do not take all hits into account – clearly these should be factored in to show who’s really performing best.

Nice one James cheers for that, great scoring from all!!
Yo everyone…
I believe TJ has it written in his contract that he’s off during FA Cup days. So here’s the lineups for the first match for anyone who’s interested.
Bournemouth team: Camp, Francis, Elphick, Ward, Daniels, Ritchie, O’Kane, Arter, Pugh, Surman, Grabban. Subs: Allsop, Cook, Pitman, Harte, MacDonald, Fraser, Rantie.
Liverpool team: Jones, Kelly, Toure, Skrtel, Cissokho, Moses, Gerrard, Henderson, Coutinho, Suarez, Sturridge. Subs: Alberto, Aspas, Mignolet, Sterling, Ibe, Flanagan, Sama.
Make you right…..as Jim White and associates start getting busy with transfer news, things will ramp up, no doubt.
Only real news this week has been Mata which is well documented. For me, he’s an immediate must have. I refuse to write off United, even tho they have the wrong manager in situ and are without carrying too much dead wood.
But Mata for will go straight into my side as soon as I accommodate him. He’s that good and a much better proposition than Ozil, for example, is slightly better than Silva and with less rotation issues, and without doubt better than the second tier quality midfielders (Cabaye, Lallana, Erikson et al).
Put him in a side with RVP and Rooney, a couple of fresh faces (defensively desperate now United, and its a whole different ball game. I rate him that highly. Nothing here but the obvious, but people have spent the last 20 years writing off United, and have been proved wrong every single season.
They will come back, and have a strong finish to the season……..
response to Ellefcee
I agree Drexl.
Mata has proven himself in EPL already so i dont think we should dare to doubt his abilities and potential.
He’ll enter my team next GW hopefully, if i dont have any injuries in the squad.
Any comment on 13
Moses Goal.
Suarez Assist.
Let the Sterling rotation begin!!!!
