McDonald's Fantasy Football

A 23 man squad? Rules that contradict themselves? A site we can’t trust to load up properly come transfer time? Players we have never heard of? Players valued at £1.0m? This all looks a bit odd… Must be World Cup time, bring it on, we love it!!!…. Welcome to our first ever World Cup ‘Rate My Team’ and to kick proceedings off FF247 has it’s very own fantasy team that is entering the competition!

The site address to enter is Mcdonalds Fantasy World Cup, you can register here. The official site league is called FF247 – simply enter this in the search bar on the league section and press JOIN!

Here is the FF247 team as it stands. FF247 welcomes suggestions and criticism aplenty but don’t be offended if you get it back! We jest, of course. Sort of. He has been known to bite though! FF247 himself will be around to discuss the team itself on this article thread and will take on board your thoughts and suggestions for changes ahead of the deadline on Thursday and there will be updates throughout the tournament as to the teams progress and hopefully thoughts on selection and strategies as it progresses.

And the subs…

This is by no means the final squad that FF247 will go into the competition with but rather an initial attempt at building a squad. A lot will depend on the feedback tomorrow and what is learnt from your own submissions and findings. The final squad will be published later in the week.

We also welcome your own Rate My Team posts on here as you begin to finalise those squads and starting line ups. Thoughts on formations, players or teams to watch, bargains, strategies or just whatever you want to post are welcome as always.

Anyone know if Suarez is likely to start the first game?

Alright, think I’m getting happier now: only question is whether Stevie G might be better replaced by anyone else? I have 1.0m to spend, so it could be Oscar/Vidal/Iniesta/whoever. Or is Pjanic a weak link?

    Cillessen (Karnezis)
    Zabaleta, Zapata, Alderweireld (Blind, Manolas)
Di Maria, Pjanic, Gerrard, Valbuena/De Bruyne
Neymar, Messi, Benzema (Costly – what a name!)

      NIN says:

I prefer any of those three to Gerrard. Pjanic is iffy i think, how about Rakitic instead?

      • Pippin says:

Hi NIN, thanks mate. Basically I have 14.5m to spend on two top midfielders. Pjanic basically allows of them to be a superstar, e.g. those I suggested – he is easily for me the best option at 6m (except Cabaye and I have Valbuena already). If Vidal is fit, or even J-Rod they would be great options. Pjanic also plays first each week, and I have a decent bench.

Instead I could get a 7.5 and 7, so it’d be 2 from Lahm, Schweini, Gerrard, Shaqiri, Fabregas, Rakitic, Xabi/Xavi – which I’m not too inspired by. Thoughts?

        • Pippin says:

Or else do Messi/Neymar to Aguero/Fred and use that money to afford Vidal/J-Rod and Oscar/Iniesta… Oh man, this is going in circles. The decision of the superstars vs the second-tier is a tough one, and could determine the winners of the group stages

        • NIN says:

Yaya and Marchisio maybe? Of the mid’s you mentioned i’d favor Schweinsteiger and Rakitic, maybe Shaqiri. Cesc would be a gem if he was guaranteed a start but Spain have endless options so he’s likely to be in and out of the team.

        • NIN says:

          De Rossi?

        • Pippin says:

Interesting…not seen many people opting for the Italians. I’m not sure how much I rate them this time around? Their recent form is shocking- we’ll see on Saturday I suppose!

Phew team done!!! Decided against none of the big 3 (NRM) but a strong squad of 14 outfielders! Have people gone for the squad theory or for the big guns!?!?!? smile

Lahm and Grosskreutz or Boating an De Bryune?

I acually can’t affored even Lahm and Grosskreutz so id have to downgrade elsewhere – I even doubt now that any of my bench will start!!!

      Dhev, all is good!!
How are you mate? Busy with corporate life? smile

      • dhevesh says:

Sort of mate…that and a shocker of an FPL season meant I was less tempted to look at how well everyone was doing here? 😉

So what’s the consensus, star studded 11 or deep squads with 15-18 average players? I’m favouring the latter!

        • Kop Warrior says:

Not everyone did well mate, my own season was a disappoinment!

          I’ve gone for a relatively deep squad, I think I’ve got 21 or 22 players who’ll start.

        • dhevesh says:

Yup, feel like that’s essential since it’s all through the group stage and there’s likelihood of injuries, suspension and rotation.

          My team is :
          Cesar ; (Cillessen ; Zemmamouche)
          Manolas ; Blind ; Ramos ; Evra (Rojo ; Mahini ; Medjani)
          Endo ; Shaqiri ; Valbuena (Dzagoev ; Ayew ; Bedoya ; Bentaleb ; Haghighi)
Alexis ; Immobile ; Honda (Mueller ; Lukaku).

Subs based purely on time of matches so i can bring them on for my rubbish performers.
          What do you think??
