A 23 man squad? Rules that contradict themselves? A site we can’t trust to load up properly come transfer time? Players we have never heard of? Players valued at £1.0m? This all looks a bit odd… Must be World Cup time, bring it on, we love it!!!…. Welcome to our first ever World Cup ‘Rate My Team’ and to kick proceedings off FF247 has it’s very own fantasy team that is entering the competition!

The site address to enter is Mcdonalds Fantasy World Cup, you can register here. The official site league is called FF247 – simply enter this in the search bar on the league section and press JOIN!

Here is the FF247 team as it stands. FF247 welcomes suggestions and criticism aplenty but don’t be offended if you get it back! We jest, of course. Sort of. He has been known to bite though! FF247 himself will be around to discuss the team itself on this article thread and will take on board your thoughts and suggestions for changes ahead of the deadline on Thursday and there will be updates throughout the tournament as to the teams progress and hopefully thoughts on selection and strategies as it progresses.

And the subs…

This is by no means the final squad that FF247 will go into the competition with but rather an initial attempt at building a squad. A lot will depend on the feedback tomorrow and what is learnt from your own submissions and findings. The final squad will be published later in the week.

We also welcome your own Rate My Team posts on here as you begin to finalise those squads and starting line ups. Thoughts on formations, players or teams to watch, bargains, strategies or just whatever you want to post are welcome as always.

Who is going to be making the most of this whole swapping-players-who’ve-played-for-those-who-haven’t dealio then?

Those who are, will you be playing a full 11 of early kick-off players or a combination of early and late kick-offs? Would you cut is so fine as to start Martinez (Honduras) over Messi when he plays only 3 hours beforehand? You’d have to be quick on the trigger swapping them when he inevitably blanks..

And finally, what will be your cut-off for swapping a player out?? If a Honduras defender gets 6 points, will you swap him for a Russian that plays later? Stick or twist, what amount of points tips the balance?

Calvin yes I intend to do that and yes I would do the Messi thing you have mentioned. As for cut off it depends entirely on who it is for but as a general rule somewhere along the lines of 5 points would be a stick.

      • +1.

Re late swap outs, i have a few where inhave someone on the bench playing directly after another player. If the cut off goes right up to kick off then i should be able to make it work. If the cut off is while the other game is still playing then some big decisions might be needed!

I’m most nervous as to whether itbwill let me swap out players in different positions.

        You all set?

Ive got 14 strong players Calvin (apart from keeper i have a good reserve in each position as its unclear yet whether ur allowed to change formation with transferred in players!!)That does sound a bit tight time wise!! For first group matches I’ve got a few days notice for any changes, not looked further than that! I was thinking of sticking with 4! I guess it depends who you’ve got coming on!! 😉

Still tinkering…having second thoughts about opting for Ozil over J-Rod (whom I currently have).

    Any thoughts?

Hello Cookie! ATF I agree with cookie, other than the Portugal game think the Germans could score nicely in the other games. I do hope he is wrong though about Colombia not performing 😉 I have gone with Lahm and Rodriguez
