FF247 Site Team Game-week 4 FPL Tips

Welcome to the FF247 Site Team Game-week 4 FPL Tips article. It seems a long time ago, but GW3 turned out ok for us, not spectacular, but ok. We scored 53 points vs an average of 42. That leaves us on 194 points so far with an overall rank of 22,450. As for the team itself last week we left McAuley points on the bench, for the 3rd week in a row! Lesson learnt? Clearly not and I think we can all predict what will happen this week, when/if we play him. At least we had Foster in goal and his clean sheet contributed – in fact only Souare let us down at the back as Valencia and Baines scored 16pts between them despite Baines missing a penalty. Hazard’s goal and maximum bonus points gave him 11pts while a Lamela assist was our only other scoring contribution to the team as all our strikers failed. We have issues to deal with this week – our naughty boys Aguero and Gray have caused us nearly a fortnight of sleepless nights!

TRANSFER DECISION THIS WEEK
We had £0.7m in the bank and 2FT’s to use. We also had the same Aguero issue as most people do and the same dilemma as a result. Just in case anyone missed it we posted an excellent piece earlier in the week which addressed the Aguero scenarios and how you may approach them and it alluded to some potential replacements too, which you can read here – FF247 Tips GW4 – Life without Aguero

We waited and waited on any Andre Gray news but with none forthcoming we can only assume his hearing will now be announced and take place next week which is a bit of a bonus all round really as it means he will be available to play against Hull at home this week!

So it was just the Aguero situation to address then. With the 2FT’s and the obvious temptations which they bring we suspected this may not be a cut and dry vote. And so it proved. We have two mavericks on our panel – one is just a maverick by nature, the other was simply born awkward! They made an early pitch to bring in Lukaku and Ozil and it’s difficult to argue with those transfers given the fixtures of both. However, we do also have three pragmatists to balance things out! Their take on the situation we had was that if we did those moves it would then present an issue in terms of actually being able to afford buying Kun back in without either taking some hits or in essence simply reversing the transfers we had just done, over the next two weeks.

As it transpired the one transfer policy was the one we subsequently decided on. Boring it may be, but also practical it is (thanks Yoda). So which one striker would we prefer to buy, given there were now no other considerations? Lukaku clearly has the fixtures but Costa has the form, and some decent fixtures too. We decided to go with form this time and so our one transfer this week is –

Sell Sergio Aguero, Buy Diego Costa

THE TEAM IN FULL FOR GW4 –

Our captain is Eden Hazard and our vice-captain is Andre Gray
Hazard is starting to look like the 2014/15 vintage again and they really liked playing Swansea in that particular season, scoring 9 against them in two games! It’s a bit tenuous and hardly something to base a captain pick on but he is starting to look the real deal again so he is getting our nod this week. The vice shouldn’t really matter and it would probably land on Costa only for our old habit / superstition of not putting it on a player in the same game as our captain. You know, just in case it snows or something. In September…

Hey folks, thinking of WCing! What do you reckon of this sorry lot:

    Heaton / Jakupovic (or Robinson)
    Valencia / Jagielka / Walker / Amat / Love
    Sterling / Hazard / Barkley / Antonio / Capoue
    Ibra / Costa / Lukaku

    0 itb.
No Arsenal worries me (but who to get; I could get an Arsenal defender instead of Jag/Walker) as well as Love. I could get Aguero back in two moves.
    Cheers!

(Nope, can’t do Arsenal defender budget-wise!)

I like the front 7 a lot but personally have issues with having 2 x 4.0 defenders and also a lack of Arsenal cover.

Perhaps LKK to Defoe and Sterling to Ozil? Can probably upgrade a defender with the spare funds also. I feel that Barkley is good enough cover for Everton until LKK proves himself

Afternoon all, would you pick Defoe or Gray to go with Ibra and Costa ?
