Fixtures Game-week 30 and planning for the Double… – FPL Fantasy Football Premier League

Photo 11-03-2014 00 56 02So while last week felt a bit like a game of 5-a-side, a knock around in the park if you will that produced an average score of just 29 points, we are thankfully back on this week with a full compliment of fixtures to go at. We appreciate that the massive double GW31 will still dictate many peoples transfers this week as they look to load up on those who have two games next week. Many will be looking to land a perfect treble for some of those teams and as such we are going to take a look at the ten DGW teams specifically but also try and shed some light on how they fare outside of GW31 as well. Let’s not forget that whoever you choose to transfer in also has to perform for you this week and for the few weeks after GW31 as well…

This is how the entire fixture list looks for the next four weeks.

We have highlighted in BLUE those ten teams who enjoy a double in GW31.

We have then graded their other fixtures outside of GW31 as a quick guide for you. GREEN being good, RED being bad and YELLOW being indifferent.

pngA quick glance at this suggests that apart from possibly Hull and maybe West Ham, you are fairly safe going into GW30 and transferring in any players that have a double as Hull host Man City and West Ham have to travel to Stoke. We have highlighted Everton, Man City, Sunderland and Swansea as all having good fixtures ahead of the double in GW30. Exiting GW31 as well should not really be an issue for any of them as GW32 looks ok for them all and even GW33 does with the possible exception of West Ham who face Liverpool at home. This is all something of a relief then and fairly straight forward as there is nothing worse than wanting to put in double players but being racked with doubt if they have a difficult fixture immediately after. This is not really the case for any of these teams.

The teams that have a GW31 double are  –

Arsenal
Everton
Hull
Liverpool
Man City
Man Utd
Newcastle
Sunderland
Swansea
West Ham

Let’s take a look at each week in isolation now along with a quick line on each about how we feel these double game-week teams look set to fare in…

Double game-week focus for GW30-

Arsenal go to arch rivals Spurs. This one could go either way. Maybe stay away from their defenders for now.
Everton host Cardiff. Romelu Lukaku looks an excellent proposition here. Baines and Coleman look good for the CS.
Hull host Man City which isn’t ideal ahead of the double. Hold any you have but wait on transferring in any until next week.
Liverpool. Traditionally Man Utd is a toughie. This season it may be a given. Don’t be afraid to transfer Pool players in.
Man City go to Hull and they may well have the league as their only focus by then. Buy them with confidence.
Man Utd. They will need to be at the races against S&S and may come up short here in that respect. Could still score though!
Newcastle are away at Fulham. Everyone wishes they could play Fulham every week at the moment. Expect goals!
Sunderland have Palace at home. This one will be tense and tight. The CS is a possibility but by no means guaranteed.
Swansea should have enough to see off West Brom in this one and Bony will be the target here as he likes a home game!
West Ham have a difficult trip to Stoke. Many will be looking at Nolan ahead of the double and he could still produce here.

Game-week 31

png

We will focus on GW31 itself properly next week of course but of those teams that play twice the ones that we feel have the best pair of fixtures in GW31 are –

Everton, Swansea at home and Newcastle away
Hull, West Brom at home, West Ham away.
Liverpool, Cardiff away, Sunderland at home.
Man City, Fulham at home, Man Utd away
Newcastle, Crystal Palace at home, Everton at home
West Ham, Man Utd at home, Hull at home

Don’t discount Arsenal, Man Utd, Sunderland or Swansea by any means but they all have at least one tricky tie whereas the above teams have either two easier ones or at least two home ones.

Game-week 32

There is life beyond GW31 you know! You do have to bear in mind what your team and squad will look like in relation to the fixtures that follow it as well. Let’s have a quick run down on each double team for the week following it then…

png

Arsenal host City which will be a massive crunch make or break game for their season. Just be wary of this one.
Everton exit the double with a very nice trip to The Cottage. Everyone likes a trip to The Cottage.
Hull have a bit of a tough away day at Stoke but don’t be too concerned about this one.
Liverpool have Spurs at home which you would still expect them to win. Its Liverpool at home and it’s Spurs…
Man City have that trip to Arsenal which will be no pushover but you need to keep your City players regardless.
Man Utd have a very nice looking exit from GW31 with a home game to Villa. If you go with Utd DGW’ers you are fine to hold.
Newcastle have a long trip South and this one’s tough to call. It’s not the worst but certainly not the best.
Sunderland have a home game here to West Ham which will be tough to call but at least it’s at home.
Swansea might not have the best double but they exit with a home game against Norwich who are poor on the road.
West Ham go to Sunderland so a bit like Newcastle it could be better but still isn’t like going to Anfield or the Etihad is it?

Double game-weeks to come.

The other consideration when choosing players now may also be that there are future double game-weeks on the horizon but we just don’t know when yet! The reality is though that we have only got nine weeks left. This will be down to seven once GW31 is out of the way and as we speak there are four definite fixtures that need rearranging and also the weekend of GW34 has been reduced down to just eight fixtures due to the involvement of Arsenal and Hull in the FA Cup semi-finals, although their fixtures could easily be pushed back to that midweek and we expect they probably will be and so remain in the same GW.

The point being that the following need to be rearranged and so having players from these teams will be no bad thing as you know that they will be involved in a double very soon.

The fixtures that currently still need to be re-arranged are –

Everton vs Crystal Palace
Man City vs Sunderland
Sunderland vs WBA
Man City vs Aston Villa

To Conclude…
Photo 11-03-2014 00 35 44We think that you should primarily be looking at getting in players from Everton, Hull, Lverpool, Man City, Newcastle and West Ham for the double in GW31 but stress that you should not shy away from the other four if it suits you better budget wise or for an exit strategy as the likes of Man Utd and Swansea still have a nice fixture to follow it up with. Ahead of it this week there are only really Hull and West Ham that have particularly difficult ones so you can plan with relative freedom around the rest. Good luck if you are hoping to land a couple of perfect trebles for the doubles week!

Fixture Fun
There are Champions League fixtures this week. Arsenal played last night and Man City play tonight so as ever just keep an eye on any injury news in the aftermath of these. Tottenham are in Europa League action on Thursday against Benfica so do likewise for them.

Great article Initt. One little suggestion though: it would be nice if green and yellow aren’t used in that chart. It makes it hard for us colorblind people smile A lot of good stuff in there though, thanks.

      What yellow and green? 😉

Good point though Josh, thank you. What would you suggest would work best please? (That’s a serious question)

Maybe take switch out either green or yellow for a light orange? Or even pink.

Josh, at the risk of answering my own question – if you go to the tab at the top and click on Fixtures, we have used a darker green on that one for that very reason as one of the team pointed it out also. Does that work for you? Not sure why I altered it for this version of it. Possibly just looked better. (to me!)

And here’s a fun stat: Aguero made only one successful pass in that first half. And that was from kickoff.
