Fixtures Game-week 38 – FPL Fantasy Football Premier League
And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I’ll say it clear
I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain
Regrets, I’ve had a few;
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course;
Each careful step along the byway
But more, much more than this
I did it my way
Yes, there were times, I’m sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall;
And did it my way

Well, whatever you did, however you did it, be proud. Be proud that you have seen it through, and come what may you have given it your best shot. Be proud that you have contributed and hopefully helped many fellow fantasy managers along the way. Be proud that they have helped you. But most of all be proud that you did it your way. The end is certainly nigh and with it we bring you our final Fixtures article of the season…
For once we can’t advise that you look ahead for your player selections. This is it and as such you can finally pick players based purely on this week and not worry that they may have a nightmare run ahead of them but a beauty of a fixture this week. As such we shall take a look at this weeks fixture list and tell you where we think you should be focusing your attentions and who to avoid.

Usually when we consider fixtures we look to form, strong against weak, who has a great home fixture etc. This week is probably the one exception though as unfortunately there is so little to play for with the exception of two teams. 4th and 5th places are decided, the relegation places may well all be done already so really it’s just the small matter of the the title itself that is left up for grabs and even that may be a foregone conclusion.
Usually GW38 produces some strange results because there is so little left at stake for so many. Remember Man Utd 5 – 5 West Brom. The big variable this season is that the majority of teams have nothing to play for but also have a lot of players who have a massive World Cup to look forward to. Now if that was me I imagine I would be taking the proverbial stroll in the park this week so as not to get injured ahead of the World Cup and who could blame them. Multiply that thought process out by how many World Cup candidates there are in the PL and that may tell you how many players will be paying lip service to GW38… Yes, lots of them…
So the only two teams that will likely have anything to play for will be Liverpool and Man City. Assuming Man City beat Villa tomorrow night then they have it all to lose on Sunday. Victory at home against West Ham will then see them lift the title. A feat that seemed unlikely a fortnight ago as Liverpool were steam- rollering all before them until they ran into the Chelsea bus. And then the Pulis one. Well ok that one wasn’t so much a bus as a comeback train but either way…

So putting aside the importance or otherwise of fixtures the obvious candidates this week are the following –
Man City
At home in a must win game. Need we say more? They have been strong all season, especially at the Etihad and we expect this will be no different. In fact should they get an early goal or two then the floodgates may open.
Liverpool
Their only hope now is a City slip-up of Gerrard-esque proportions. They may as well go out on a high regardless and as such we expect they will tonk the hapless Newcastle this week. Load up on Liverpool players this week and share in their glorious failure!
Chelsea
Mourinho et al travel to a relegated Cardiff and the least you would expect would be a clean sheet but perhaps also they will throw off the shackles finally and unleash Hazard upon the doomed Welsh outfit. Perhaps.
Arsenal
The Gunners put on a very typical end of season show last time out with a laboured 1-0 win over West Brom. In fact it was perhaps a lesson in what to expect this weekend – a load of talented players doing just enough to get the win, satisfy the fans and ensure they get on the plane to Rio unscathed.
Sunderland
At the time of writing Sunderland actually come in to the category of a team who has something to play for. They need 1 point out of their 2 remaining fixtures to secure their place in the Premier League next season. The fact is that they may well have done so already come Sunday and as such their game against Swansea will be much like the rest – a dead rubber.
Tottenham
Again a team with nothing to play for but any home game against a team called Villa should be 3 points in the bag you would imagine. That’s the theory anyway but with so little to play for in both camps we could as easily see a 0-0 as a 5-5.
Fixture Fun
There are of course still three games left in GW37 so watch those closely for any injury news, both tonight and tomorrow, but other than that there are no European games left with all of our clubs having exited stage left already.
We sincerely hope that we have been of some assistance this season in helping you to navigate the fixtures and all of their nuances such as the double game-weeks. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read Fixtures this season and commenting on it also. We shall have our usual line-up of articles this week with Tips, Team Talk and Captains Picks to follow but from Fixtures this is the final one and we bid you farewell until GW1 of 2014/15!
Thanks for reading Fixtures Game-week 38, this article was written by Inittowinit
apologies if similar question has been asked but as ramsay is subbed out does first sub defender replace him or second sub midfielder ? btw never mind sturridge and dzeko it’s baines and ozil for this weekend !!
sid it’s in the order of your bench but that has to make a valid formation. Sounds like it’ll be a defender for you as that fits.
cheers bud . and baines and ozil ???
Zabaleta assist, lovely.
Well, that was a gameweek and a half eh? Or just a half in many cases. Now its over and we look forward to the final GW of our season……can’t believe its nearly all over for another season.
Cookie,
After my moping around since the weekend, I actually scored 101 ! (-16 from that though for transfers) but Zabaleta, Vergini, Alonso and Yaya (C) worked for me.
Have Aguero, Suarez and Rooney up top – thinking of Rooney ditched (don’t trust Giggs at all) for Sturridge as I can see City winning easy but Liverpool running riot as well.
Keeping the armband on Yaya though.
GP sounds like a good plan & well done on your score this week I don’t have a scooby what to do this week …… Maybe get Gerrard in …..or maybe sturridge ……. Or maybe sterling. Def not hits though!
GP, it was the weirdest gameweek ever eh? Last night paid off massively and those of us who capo’d Yaya or Dzeko defo had it off. Good time to see some green arrows, especially with a 16pt hit! Funny old game.
I’m struggling to get that armband off Yaya for Sunday, but Goofy home to Newcastle? I’ll be pondering this right up to deadline and still be unconvinced either way after I have decided!!
seren/Cookie/Chins
Thanks. I couldn’t believe I reached the century but happy to take it.
Scored 49 last night in MLS so a solid start.
Looking forward to the summer. Already got my WC picks jotted down but doubt I would be able to afford them all. As usual, finding the gems is the key!
Well done this week Cookie, back to your rightful place of #2 in the FF247 league
Seren, no-one remembers #2 do they?!! Gonna hunt that Basher down and I fully expect you to do likewise!!!
Not sure about hunting Basher down but it seems anything could happen this week! Would like to finish with a seasons best though.
You can do that for sure, couple of cheeky transfers and cross those fingers!
Morning Cookie, great scoring again pal, you and migs fighting over the Banterbury Prem Title, should be a great gw.
Morning Eddy, yeah it’ll be a cracking last day…all to play for. Whatever happens, Migs is a great guy and would be a deserving winner.
I agree Cookie, you playing Gallow in the Cup as well this weekend?
yeah mate, the Shield final. Already told the mrs to bugger off for the afternoon!!!
Golf for me Sunday and then the 19th mate so ill say best of luck now Cookie and i think were heading to catch the Giro on Saturday (weather permitting!)
cheers mate. The Giro will be cool. You back on the course properly now ?
yes Cookie, back to playing a full round though my handicap has slipped to 16, i intend to remedy that in the next few months………………. just have to tell the Mrs
sure she’ll be chuffed with that Ed!!!
of course, gets me out of the house for 4 hours and she doesnt have to listen to me winging about being robbed in the FPL…..
when i say robbed………….. i mean being sh**e!
Awe Cookie you making me blush pal! haha well just like Liverpool seems I have “slipped” up here but you deserve the title mate been a great season for you! Just like Pool ill happily take second spot. Do we qualify for the Champions League as well?
Great scores GP and Cookie.
70 minus hits for me. A bit meh, and knocked out of 1 cup semi and lost another one in the final. Oh well. Happy with the season overall. Highest ranking ever by some distance.
Brilliant work on the articles all season Init, Cookie, Mito, Migs and B’s Favourite, Kop.
Looking forward to a summer of MLS and WC action.
Oh, and the final gameweek next week! Bring it on.
Thanks Chins – this season has been an absolute pleasure for us all – its been manic getting things going and getting the weekly agenda sorted and working relatively well, but we’ve all enjoyed it and what makes it even more worthwhile is the lovely comments over the last few days.
Hopefully we’ll be bigger and better next season – will be a tough few months of planning etc, but it’ll be worth the effort, I’m sure.
Glad you’ve enjoyed it and with MLS, World Cup and no doubt some fantasy cricket thrown in for the classy ones amongst us, there is no respite!!
Morning cookie, classy mmmmmmm ! ! ! Got your e-mail by the way, will reply tonight mate, got a busy day, cheers.
Cheers Elle
Thanks Chins appreciate it! Don’t forget my partner in crime Eddy
So this should be my team for the next GW with 1FT.
Seems like taking a hit would be ideal.
Mannone
Zabs – Azpi/Olsson – Ward
YYT – Mata – Eriksen – Amalfitano
Suarez (C) – Aguero – Rooney
Need to finish in Top 5K, and currently 1K short of that position.
The best moves seem to be:
Aguero > Dzeko and Rooney > Sturridge for a (-4).
Could also do Mata > Gerrard for (-8), but i think that would be too much to recover.
Could even do Ramsey>Gerrard after replacing strikers, and play Mata, and bench Amalfitano.
Solid moves but I doubt Gerrard is questionable in my opinion..
I can currently just about do:
Agüero —–> Dzeko
Wickham —–> Sturridge
Ramsey —–> Hazard
But I’d have to do it tonight, and I wanted to wait for any injury updates on a Friday, so maybe it’s too risky this early… what do you think?
So I’m thinking of going balls-to-the-wall and going for the strongest last GW team everrrr. I mean, what’s to lose? I won my mini-league and am so far behind in the Regulars that I’ve made Bristol Rovers look like BPL winners.
M&B that sounds a good idea, if you did, what would your perfect XI be?
Jimbo:
Current squad:
Mannone, Boruc
Vidic, Zabaleta, Cahll, Chester, Collins
Eriksen, Nasri, Ramsey, Mutch, Johnson
Suarez, Rooney, Aguero
Perfect XI:
Would include Baines/Coleman? Yaya Toure for sure. Giroud and Dzeko also! Not sure what else yet 😛
Interesting. How about Hazard? Sturridge perhaps?
Hazard I don’t know, Sturridge was poor against Palace..
Haha have to laugh at Bristol Rovers joke , well ok just laugh at Bristol Rovers hahahaha
