FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 1
Welcome to FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 1
And we go again…
Saturday afternoons will never be the same without Jeff, but we shall plough on regardless. The selfish b@stard will no doubt be sunning himself in some far flung destination with a cocktail in his hand. If this was North Korea he’d have died in that chair. Maybe they do get some things right, after all..
And so, with potential death threat no.1 of the season out of the way, down to the action…
We begin on Friday with Man City going to Burnley at 8pm. Get used to Friday’s as it looks like it is a thing again, at least for the opening month.
Saturday begins with Arsenal already chasing, most likely, as they host Forest in the early game.
Simon (Thomas) is our new Jeff at 3pm, he’s a nice bloke, and he gets under way with 4 games – Bournemouth v West Ham, Luton at Brighton, Everton welcoming Fulham and Palace going to The Blades. Clearly they don’t want him to get too overexcited on day 1… The late one should be a good game though as Newcastle host Villa.
That leaves us with 2 on Sunday – Brentford v Spurs at 2pm and Chelsea v Liverpool at 4.30pm. And then the final one is on Monday as Man United welcome Wolves at 8pm.
The games in full…

Also, it’s time like this I’m reminded how awesome being 6 hours behind UK time is.
3 games back to back and done by lunchtime. Still have the entire afternoon to get my chores done and make the wife happy.
Same. 3 matches and I still have the entire afternoon. Heading out to catch a cover band play at a local Pub outdoors.
Sounds good, ODT. What band and where are you?
I went the other way and enjoyed a 2 hour nap while the wife took the youngest to a birthday party. Quality start to the weekend!
I am in Orange County CA. I went out to see a Grateful Dead cover band that’s been playing around these parts since 88ish. I’ve been seeing them since 93 or so. 430 here and I just arrived home. Now I may take a nap after I eat a couple of tamales. Maybe too much information. Anyways. What’s your local?
Lol. That sounds awesome. I was out in LA with the family a few weeks ago for the Arsenal vs Barcelona game. Man your traffic SUCKS!!! Beautiful weather and beaches though.
I’m a hour north of Dallas, in Frisco Texas. Got to see Messi last week, do his thing against FC Dallas. Was amazing to see him live.
Our traffic is the stuff of nightmares and it’s not even back to pre pandemic levels. I’ve driven through Frisco Texas before. Good luck this season.
For me it’s other way. 4.5 hours ahead of uk. But I am anyways not a morning person. Matches happen 5pm to midnight for me.
Nice. Still clears the daytime for other activities. Where are you at?
India
Diaby looking pretty sharp…
Agree. Good to see him as a clear OOP player too. Him and Watkins look like they were linking up fairly well too.
With Gabriel over 33% ownership could he drop in price considering he didn’t start ?
Yeah i’m a little concerned about this. Might well happen this week through knee-jerking. Annoying really.
I’d say that’s a real possibility. Easy switch to Saliba would probably be the move, but it’s annoying to have to use a FT on that.
No idea if that’s going to be the standard starting formation this season or not. I hope not. I think they look a lot better with White at right back.
Tommy might be a good pick up until Zinchenko gets back at LB. Clearly arteta doesn’t like Tierney.
I do like Barnes…hope he is a regular going forward. Easy swap with Mbeumo.
Will consider from gw4. Let’s see if he gets some starts too
Agree. Looked good, but the Newcastle front three getting entirely swapped out each week will get annoying for predicting who is going to get minutes. Noticed that Howe seems happy to make his changes early too. Poor Isak was on a hatrick too. Although he did have enough chances to have scored 4+ today.
Newcastle have so many good options in all positions, which is a shame for FPL. Would love Isak and Barnes if they played most games but i fear rotation too much to risk it, at least for now. Guess you never know though.
Kane will have to wait for his 1st trophy atleast till May. Bayern getting thrashed 0-3 by Leipzig in supercup
